SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 2nd
Good Morning,
Another rainy day here. My older sis and BIL arrived in their RV last night. DB#1 is staying at Jim's and DB#2 went home yesterday because he has his own doctoring to do today. now we're starting to resemble an RV park as much as a B&B!
Jim was a little more alert yesterday than he has been for 3 days. But he has had at least 3 conversations with folks who weren't there. One of them was our Mom - who died in 1989. I'm not sure how long he can survive in this shape. He hasn't eaten anything but two bites of sherbet for 4 days and only a few sips here and there. But I suspect when everyone starts to fly home - starting Friday, then Saturday - maybe he will let go. The poor guy.
IRISH - I'm so praying for you. Do you think any new meds or adjustment of meds will help Jim. I wish there was a magic wand. We really need a magic wand here. Hugs!! So happy you have Harriet and her young man to keep your eye on - and report back to us!
JANA - 200 TOTer's and you have candy left? We had ZERO TOTers and we are out of candy - after buying it three times! Hmmm . . . What's wrong with this picture? How's the thumb?
VELDA - I hope you shake your virus before Fest Friday! Mary Q is so excited. She will be boarding her plain in about 6 hours. She was at my house when she opened her beautifully wrapped Mother's Day gift on a stop-over on her way to Alaska. She was SUPPOSED to wait until she got to her DD's. But she'd bought some fabric here and then couldn't fit the gift box into her suitcase any longer so was trying to 'downsize' and opened the gift early to find a note from her sons telling her they were sending her to Houston this year (and her birthday is while in Houston, too!). She came running into our house from our 'guest cottage', crying and calling for me to come see. In her jammies. We both started crying and jumping up in down. By the way - don't forget to mail her autograph block to her as soon after Nov 1st as possible. As a thank-you for 10 years of Secret Santa. The hope is that she comes home Nov 6th to a pile of blocks! I even got Eleanor to sign one and mail it back to me with a nice note.
CHICKIE - how was the Audobon meeting? you learned - and shared - some interesting things last time. And I know that Halloween party was a blast! Doyal wore his usual scary costume, I assume. ;o) kidding!
BECCA - some days I feel I have a cleaning disorder, too. but if I lay down with a cool cloth, it passes. Sometimes a glass of wine helps . . maybe a Dove chocolate. Dark.
No cooking tonite! We are all invited to my DD's for supper - chicken fettuccini alfredo I believe. We'll leave Terry with her three kids and Jim for the evening. Unless, of course, we don't go . . . .
Now I am going to backtrack a few days and print off Jana's recipe. Didn't get a chance to do that yet.
What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good morning! Mary, I was thinking you were running a B&B and RV park… so glad everyone is getting together. It’s just such a sad thing to have to go through.
Irish—Ava is just such a sweetie. No wonder the Hooligans and I go see her every day, right! She’s always so happy to see all of us, and especially DH if he goes with us for some reason.
The Houston gals are going to have such a great time!!!
My block going out in tomorrow’s mail…
We had a nice meeting last night. A professor from one of the community colleges in the area showed a lot of the mammals that lived in the area and are now extinct. He had teeth from a mastodon and another animal that were many, many, many times the size of our cow teeth! It was real interesting. He had done a lot of research/digging not far from here and showed things he’d discovered. I also signed up for May refreshments. I can’t believe my hand did that!!!
Sorry this is quick… dinner tonite… there’s a serving of fajita for DH, and I’ll come up with something for myself… not sure yet just what.
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 2nd
Good morning from a warm, sunny, almost summerlike, SW. Pa...But, we all know, it's not going to last but we sure are loving it while it's here......
Mary, just to show you how much I'm thinking about you, you have even invaded my dreams, lol...You were here, practically in my back yard, parked a street away, on your way back from Ocean City...Really strange because we were living in the big house and you got a tour and even met my Mother (who has been gone sine 1999)....Then we went to your camper, which was the size of my house and how come you never told us about the mirrors on your bedroom ceiling and the bed that moves like ocean waves?????We wanted to do some running but couldn't get your truck out of the street...Not sure how you got it in there and why we didn't take my car but that's my dreams, weird, right????(It could have been that snowball I ate before I went to bed)
The last doctor Jim saw is sending a new med but to tell you the truth, I've given up hope on meds...No one knows for sure if anything is helping and they are just drawing straws....Jim never, ever took meds in his life and now he's up to 5 and really doesn't want to take them....I sure don't want them to give him something that puts him in a stupor and I think that's the way most dementia doctors tend to do....
You know, it does seem, some like your DB, Jim, will hang on until everyone has had a chance to say goodbye...My biggest regret and I will never forgive myself for not being with Chris on that last day...Jim had just had surgery and I didn't think I could leave him...But, the kids were all there....But, I still thought, deep down, we were going to get that 1 more miracle and he was going to bounce back....
I do like your cure for the "cleaning disorder" and will be sure to keep a bottle or 2 around, just for medicinal purposes, of course.....
Becca, hope you're enjoying this weather as much as we are....Also, hope your day is a good one.....
Chickie, isn't it funny how fur kids react to people...The other night, DS, Kevin stopped down and Baby Girl was all over him...He's a dog person, has 2 English Bulldogs, but she must have known he had a soft spot for 4 legged beings....He couldn't get over how, she would roll over and want her belly rubbed....And what would we do if we didn't have them......
Well, I'd better decide what we're doing for the day before it gets away from me....I did tell Jim we might go for a ride today and I'm sure he'll be glad to get out....I'd like to go to the farm and get some goodies and then who knows where else.....
As for dinner, we're still doing the "must goes"... A little of this, a little of that and of course a snow ball for afters............
Happy eating..............

Hello everyone,What a day we have had.More like a whirlwind & stressful.
DH is one of those worry warts overtime. We had a 1:00 hair appt & he gets all in a tizzy.I made lunch for DS &dGS too. Then we go to salon. Then on to Furniture store for sofa hunting. We got it down to 2. Will decide maybe.
Maryz My DMIL lasted 6 Wish on nothing but water. When they put apple juice in with a syringe she would not swallow it.But she hung on.It was incredible.
Prayers to all of you.Know its very tiring.
Irish DH doesn't do well with meds.He said if they try anything else he isn't taking it.He has discarded so much they give him he won't take.I don't blame him bec a pill isn't the answer.Hope you got your Ride in & stop at the Farm.
Chickie I didn't see Ava.Is she on Facebook?
I grilled chicken tenders ,steamed rice ,& had mixed veggies.Brownies too....Becca

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Nov 2nd
Just about to put in dinner - a roast, rice, gravy, broccoli and for afters, blackberry cobbler with vanilla ice cream. I am in the mood to cook.
Sarah's other car just died on the road, not far ftom here. Sounds like a clutch went out. She is also taking the truck up to Ogden to look at a piano. She sold the grand piano, just too big for the house. This one is a Upright grand, so it won't take up so much space. Then the biggest incident is that Stu will be home in about 2 weeks. The hand needs to have the surgery done. A bone graft and a plate. We found a specialist for him, just need to get him home and the surgery done ASAP. His room, that they are finishing in the basement is no where even started, so that is getting started too. When it rains it pours! Not like what some of you have in your lives, but this will keep us busy for awhile. There is a very good chance that after he has healed, he will go back to Riverside, where he is serving his mission and complete the time left.
My thumb is very much better and i can do things with it now.
Enjoy!
