Good stormy morning!

We are in the middle of the first of three big storms coming in off the Pacific. Lots of high winds and pouring rain. I slept through most of it but it's still going on this morning. The most intense storm, remnants of a Pacific Typhoon, is coming in Saturday with winds up to 70 mph. The third storm lands Tuesday. We are planning to go to OR for a couple of days so I guess we better leave on Monday, in between the storms. we will be back Thursday. With this weather, our family brunch may get cancelled. I want to see my kids, but not willing to risk one of them on the roadways if weather is bad that day.

TINA - I hope you can get that permit today. Here, it can take weeks to get a permit from the County. I also hope you are feeling better today. Did your parents stop by yesterday?

CHICKIE - I would have loved some of that fritata! Onions, broccoli, and all! I think I'll run to the store today to check out the health food aisle and see what I can find in the way of "acceptable food". Everyone will eat eggs IN food, just not eggs as eggs. That makes things easier.

BECCA - glad to give you a laugh yesterday with my quiche mistake. I laughed, too, but I was telling my oldest brother, Gene, about it so he could share with his wife, a former Taste of Home field editor, and he and I agreed that this wasn't a story to tell the kids! They are watching for things like this! lol!

IRISH - your Dan's girlfriend really has it rough in the gluten diet! My DDIL recently found out she is allergic. She thought if she just cut back she would be OK. But she wasn't and her doctor scolded her. So now she has to be very careful, too. But I don't think she has to have separate pans! And isn't it the truth - the one day you let yourself slide, go to the store in old clothes or take out the trash, you meet the world! When my hair is the worst - that's most days! - I always meet my hairdresser.

JANA - I always enjoy cleaning/organizing/fluffing my sewing nest. I have my rulers all in an old record rack that sits on top of a low bookshelf next to my cutting table. The smallest rulers are in a picnic dispenser thing that is meant to hold napkins & silverware. Instead I have cutters, pens, markers, scissors, Best Press, and the rulers in it. Of course, I have to make room for two cat baskets in my tiny sewing room, too!

VELDA - did you get Willie's labs back? Mick's came back 'negative'. Still have no idea what made him sick. But he's back to normal now. We will take him to Oregon with us.

CAROL without an E - I made your pork chop skillet last night, only I browned the chops and put them in the crockpot with everything else. Smelled so good all day long! And the end result was delicious!

I took some pre-seasoned chicken out of the freezer for tonite. Thai flavor. From Costco. I think I'll also make some rice and a salad to go with. I have a recipe for zucchini cupcakes that I might bake today, too.

What's happening in your kitchen tonite?

Good morning! I’m a little early today… wonder of wonders! I’m swilling a second cup of coffee. We had some rain in the night… I heard it coming across the pond, then on our roof… lullaby… that’s all I remember. I love to fall asleep listening to the rain or thunder rumbles… as long as they aren’t accompanied by striking lightning.

Mary—I found mixes from Bob’s Red Mill for gluten free baking and made biscuits for Carli… She drinks almond milk… they aren’t “real” biscuits, but are passable. I made GF cookie for her birthday and decorated it with frosting without milk. There are a lot of GF recipes. Good luck!!! She ate scrambled eggs, so I did them without milk and just water. Sounds like you may not have to worry… better safe than driving in storms!!! The frittata didn’t have the broccoli and onions.

Irish and Mary—that’s one of Murphy’s Laws… the worse we look, the more people we see/see us! Never fails!!!

Jana—I have my big rulers hanging on a hanger my DH made using antique door knobs. They hang on hooks on the knobs next to my cutting table. I love those glass and ceramic knobs and wanted to use them.

Mary—I love Thai food… your chicken sounds delicious! I wish Costco wasn’t three hours away!!!

Well, I have to cook tonight. The chili went last night as nachos, so … I’m thinking some banned food. I know… sorry. I won’t mention the delicacy… salad, maybe rice, a veggie and banana bread. I’ll make the banana bread from some “must go” bananas on the counter.

Hello everyone,sunny now & mild.

Maryz Our DGS FaceTimed last nite.He said they are calling it the Storm of the Century.Sure pray all stay safe.I would leave too to be safe.My DDIL can't have gluten either. She gets really ill.If she ventures off her diet.

Chickie You are an early bird today.Hope the bread turns out good.

Ladies it is amazing all I have learned to do with my grabber.i can sweep ,use dust pan by letting it slide to floor between my legs.Use foot to position it in place .Then use grabber to dump in trash. And I can retrieve items out of cabinet.I may continue as it saves the back.

Guess I'll go to visitation tonite.Know there will be lots of people.Big family & she has lived here all her life. They used to visit us so much & great memories I have of her.She fought a long fight. That leaves one friend still fighting it & my DB.

It will be burgers for DH & fries.Salad, grapes for me. Appple cake for dessert. Becca

Good early afternoon from sunny but still chilly, SW. Pa...We did have a frost last night but not hard enough to kill everything so we still have flowers.....I keep saying, next year, I'm just throwing flower seeds in the garden, that's the only thing that grew this year.....

Mary, We've had the weather channel on and they were telling about those nasty storms headed your way...1st the east coast, now the west....Mother Nature really is in a snit....It's terrible to have this allergy but thank goodness they were able to find out the problem...Our DLF, Shirley, from Sunday breakfast, suffered for a few years before they really pin pointed it..And at that time, there were very few products on the market and what there was pricey and not too tasty...I really do feel bad for Dan's DGF but she's a real trooper and takes it in stride....

Chickie, probably told this story before but Kathy convinced me to go shopping the day after Thanksgiving, years ago..."We'll go very early, no one will see you"! No make up, coffee spilled on my sweat shirt on the way and everyone and their brother was out shopping...We filled our buggies, came around the corner of an aisle and there was a photographer...Yep, you guessed it, our picture was on the front page of the local paper...I've never gone shopping on that day since.....
I had gotten that Bob's Red Mill flour to make a pumpkin pie for Dan's DGF and I couldn't take the smell of the flour...And I have noticed, both Aldi and Walmart are getting more and more gluten free foods, thank goodness....And I think I'm with you in the banned food corner but don't tell Mary......

Today is a little laundry and later this afternoon, I'm taking Jim for a ride...He's been a bit antsy so I think he needs to get out of the house......
For our dinner, I'm thinking maybe a "mac n cheese"/noodle casserole....At this point, I'll make just about anything (within limits) just to get Jim to eat.......

Happy eating..................

Good morning,

Well, we are getting the first of Mary's storms. Windy as all get out right now. Rain later today, so Michael is getting the lawns mowed. Hopefully for the last time.

Lots of leftovers in the refrig, so we will eat through them.

Went to Costco last night after dinner with Ethan in tow. First thing he wanted was to find the samples to taste. I told him it was probably too late, but he found some, and was a happy camper. Already learned to eat his way through Costco. I had Scrooge with me as well, but he did buy me some more Christmas decorations. Like I needed more - always need more! LOL

Time to change the finsl load of laundry - nice to be done for another week.

Enjoy,
Jana

I am trying to get in here to read the menu and post before it gets too late.

We had a busy day today. DH and I are getting the pontoon ready for storage. He took all the reels off the rods. He takes them with us to Texas and it is his winter project to clean reels and then in the spring he loads them with fresh line before we head back to Illinois.

We both cleaned up all the scattered baits and got them back into the right boxes. Then I swept the floor and cleaned all the fly and spider doo doo off everything. We got the cover snapped on and DH and Willy are off for a little nap. By the way, don't know about Willy's results yet, but he is doing so great. He isn't scratching or licking the stitches, so it is all healing nicely.

We are having left over noodles and chicken and broth. Not chicken soup, this is more hearty and simply yummy.

Tomorrow night is our annual year end supper at the marina. All is furnished (free meal). Then Sunday night we are going to TGI Friday's with friends one more time before we close up our camp sites.

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we will be at our son's house.

Maryz, you be safe in that horrible storm.
Hugs to all the rest. Hope you have a great weekend. I may not be back in here until next week. Time is so busy here right now.
