Good Morning,
Chilly mornings are here! Olympia is down in the 30's this morning - 40 miles south of us. We were 42*. brrr!! But I sure feel refreshed and invigorated after my morning walk!
Mick is even better today than yesterday. Walked 1-1/2 miles and he was in the lead, pulling on his leash. Still has five days of meds to go, but he's feeling fine! We take him and Scottie to the care facility every evening from 6-7pm. And he charged in the door last night and started barking! Of course, that set Scot off, too. Mick was on the hunt for his parents but Scot had no idea what they were barking about, just barking back-up I think. I bet that place will be glad when Jim goes home! lol! Which may be Oct 20th.
BECCA - I wish I was there to help with a few of the uglies - and the laundry. And you are having TWINS!! What wonderful fun!! I'm so excited for you! Can't wait to find out if you're getting boys or girls - or one of each! Two of my brothers have twin grandchildren - one had boy/girl, now grown. My oldest brother has boys who are actually his great-grandkids. Only a year or so old.
TINA, TINA, TINA - what are we going to do with you?? On my way to Becca's, I'm bringing you some homemade chicken soup and a case of fluids and a pillow - so you can get all you need to fight your cold.
IRISH - happy birthday to your Snowball friend! I'm with her in spirit and I get the white one!! Also in spirit. So happy you've found someone to help you out a bit. It will be so good for you to get out with your friends now and then to rejuvenate yourself! and how is your foot doing?
VELDA - your Elf will love your beaded gift. I've seen photos of your work and I'm hoping I'm your Elf!! Glad Willie came back to you last night. Everyone recovers better in their own home, I believe. Even dog-people.
CHICKIE - I'm sorry, but I'm laughing picturing "little" Tinkerbell grinning as she made herself comfy in the special blankie you put out for her in your flowerbeds. So much more comfortable than those pokey plants! lol!
JANA - how is your team doing? Sad to say, I haven't been paying much attention.
I made a plan to make a quiche for supper tonite and then read that turns out I'm stealing Chickie's idea! But we have a lot of eggs, cheese, and bacon bits. I might toss in some diced peppers and mushrooms, too. I think we'll have some saute'd zucchini and a salad on the side. My walking buddy gave me two large zucchinis this morning.
Bon appetit`!

Good early afternoon from sunny, pleasant, SW.Pa....We were chilly and now it's up to a whopping, 65 but lots and lots of sun.....
Mary, so glad to hear Mick is really on the mend....You might think the home will be glad when Jim goes home but I'm thinking otherwise..I have a feeling, they all look forward to the fur kids visiting...When my Jim was on his "weekend" he was visited by the resident cat, a huge black furbaby who makes her way to all the rooms...When my DM was in a home, they also had a cat who would lay on Mom's bed during the night...Think that didn't help bring the spirits way up, Mom loved it, couldn't wait to tell me....
And, the foot is still there, lol....I kicked the boot and if I'm going to be out and about, I do wrap it but other wise, I keep a laced shoe on and most of the time, it feels pretty good....Not running any races yet.....
I was also thinking about a quiche but not sure...I had seen a recipe in 1 of my magazines and then Kathy must have had the same mag and made it and said it was wonderful...But, now, not sure what I did with the magazine, gosh darn....You getting zucchinis, neighbor Ted gave me a huge bag of green peppers...If I had green tomatoes, I might have made some relish but will just cut these in half and freeze them......
Becca, TWINS! Can it get any better???Now I have to go back and read and find how who and when...You do have your knitting and sewing cut out for you, don't you? Plus all those new baby kisses and snuggles, double, oh my......Now if we could just do something about DH's pain, life would be almost perfect, right?
And maybe I can hitch a ride with Mary and help with the laundry or just sit on your porch and keep you company.....
Tina, On our way!
Chickie, I thought of you as I was hanging the bed stuff today....I completely stripped the bed and it's all hanging neatly, just the way I want them, lol....Do you ever think how boring your life would be if you didn't have your fur kids to keep you entertained? They certainly keep us going.....
Velda, so glad to hear Willie is home...I can't imagine leaving a fur baby...They'd have to find an empty cage for me....But, I'm sure Momma will take very good care of him.....
Well, gotta get a move on...If I sit too long, that get up and go leaves and I have too much to get done...Besides taking care of the peppers, I have a huge bag of apples to take care of and I just have a small freezer....Might be time to rearrange.....
For our dinner, I'm thinking burgers on the grill if I don't find that quiche recipe...Yesterday, we did pick up a frozen pizza and I only baked 1/2 so we could have a pizza rerun if nothing else.....
Happy eating............
Eagle Update: The eagle that was stuck in the car grill was in Florida but it wasn't our eagles...I believe it was in St. Petersburg...They got him out and he's fine...There was another one in Bethleham, Pa, who was in the middle of a highway...They shut down traffic until the rescue people could gather her up...She had injured her wing and had surgery and is expected to recover..We did have a near miss with Harriet in Ft. Myers...She was trying to go after road kill and almost got hit..There are people who carry shovels in their cars just to remove road kill so make it safer for eagles and other birds who are looking for dinner....

Good afternoon!
Break out the black arm bands - we blew a lead in the ninth and lost. We are out of the playoffs. First even years since the beginning of this decade. Oh well......
We did corned beef last night, so i am thinking spaghetti for today.
It is cold, gray and cloudy. The temps are definitely dropping. A storm is due in tomorrow with rain. The proverbial they say that we will have snow on the valley floor shortly.
Enjoy,
Jana

IRISH, good news about your foot. I bet you WILL be running those races soon! Also glad to hear about "Matthew" surviving OK. I knew you'd be on it! Also Harriet. About a month ago, we had a bald eagle swoop down in front of our car just 1/4 mile from our house. Almost got him! I don't know who he was though.
JANA - so sorry about your Giants. I was rooting for them!
Just got back from Costco and Bill was looking at the pork chops we bought quite longingly. I said he could have them instead of quiche. He almost wavered until I told him that Chickie's Doyal eats quiche. Then I added that Doyal also eats beavers, squirrels, and whatever else he runs over. ;o) Bill said, "so quiche ranks with beavers and squirrels?" But he decided to stick with the plan. And he'll get his chops tomorrow night.

Mary - Michael would not dispute that beaver, squirrels, and what else is roadkill ranks right up there with quiche! We had a good laugh at that one!

Here I am… who left the freezer door open??? We are 56 degrees at 3:00 in the afternoon!!! Yesterday at this time, we were 80 degrees!!! That’s hard on the system. We had thunderstorms most of the night and drizzle off and on all day… not much rain—0.7”.
Mary—so glad to hear Mick is bouncing back! Too funny about the barking (well, maybe not at the care facility)… but, with three Hooligans, we get the back-up barkapalooza all the time—day and NIGHT!!! Some nights there is not a lot of sleep and much grouching… blaming me for some reason…
I was going to do quiche this evening, but I decided to do it for brunch tomorrow… it will have ham, but I’m throwing in some broccoli anyway—know that’s not typically brunch for SOME people who reside here. I’ll be glad to eat any of it that migrates off his plate…
That said, tonight is CHILI! It was so cool and blustery all day, when I came back I defrosted some burger and browned it. Now I have a pot simmering on the stove. I think I’ll make mine spaghetti red and fix some udon noodles to go under mine with dill pickles, chopped onions and parmesan on top. It’s served at the drive-in diner with spaghetti noodles and crackers as well as the onions, pickles and parmesan. I just love it!!!
Mary—don’t forget Tina’s calabacitas from the zucchini (basically, usually stuffed zucchini boats). YUM!!! Yes, I can see Tinker Bell thinking she really showed me when she slept on the blanket over my begonias rather than getting to come inside. Ha! It wasn’t long before she figured out the doggy door…
Jana—really quiche equates to roadkill? I do agree that my DH will eat just about anything—at least so far I haven’t had to fix roadkill. LOL!!! I’ve seen some that already looked like pizza on the pavement. I’ll wear the black with you.
Irish—that’s nice that people do look after the eagles and remove the roadkill. You’re right, sometimes the Hooligans are more entertaining than the TV or anything we can make up. When I had the one dog and 2 kitties, Dusty (dog) used to get a rope and run all over the house and furniture with the cats chasing and pouncing on the rope. It was so much fun to watch… like she was a little person playing with the cats. She and Brutus used to sit on their haunches and box each other… just playing… no growling. They looked like those Weebles that had the weighted bottoms and would pop back upright when they went down.
Vel—glad Willie is back where he belongs!!!
I’m trying to do a little Christmas sewing. I’m going to make canvass totes for the two DDILs and Ava’s mom. I’m lining them with their favorite fabrics… chickens, dogs and John Deere. Just got started piecing John Deere scraps to make “fabric”.
Enjoy!
