SUPPER CLUB - Fri, October 7th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Oct 07, 2016 4:29 am

Good Morning!

I didn't think I'd have to add anything to our list - that I can deal with y'all eating liver as long as I couldn't smell it from here. But here I am, adding one more item - BEAVER! Or let's just say rodents of any kind! Gaaackkk!!!

BECCA - welcome back! Happy to hear you are doing well. And what a blessing your DD is!! Sorry you had to come in the middle of a discussion on eating beaver. That probably set your recovery back three days!

TINA - sounds like your Project Parents is moving right along. Exciting! And a bummer that you had to wait so long for your appointment. I think she can't claim traffic as an excuse in Deming. When do you get the results of your U/S?

IRISH - yes, you would have a zoo if you took my fur-crowd. Especially at feeding time when you have to keep everyone out of everyone else's food! And you are right - no one is going to convert me to liver and seafood now. I ate it all for the first 14 years of my life until I finally rebelled. And the few bites I've had since have assured me that I made the right decision!!

CHICKIE - vegetarian stew sounds good to me! Besides growing up on the farm and finding many "pets" on the table, I went through "body lab" in nursing school. I couldn't even eat turkey for years after that! I'm just not much of a meat of any kind fan. Poor Tink! Glad she has an understanding mama!

CAROLE - Let me repeat - not a chance in heck that I'll turn to the dark side of the culinary world. And I have to say that I did go into our bedroom yesterday, looked around at the pet spiders and dust bunnies, and said, "you know, it really doesn't look that bad", and walked out again. Problem solved!! But I did give it a thought! lol!

JANA - you must have gotten to go out for a surprise supper last night!

Rainy, windy day here, though not nearly as big a deal as on the east coast. So I guess it's an indoor day and you know what that means! I'll be working on my Delectable Mountains. Though Bill did mention he wanted to go to a movie - "Sully". I don't care to go to movies, but will probably tag along to keep him company.

Supper here tonite will be that baked potato soup I mentioned earlier in the week. I have all the ingredients and I found ELEVEN recipes in my recipe box for potato soup. So I have plenty of direction for this first time dish for me. I narrowed it down to 3 and will probably mix them and come up with my own. I can be a rebel, too, when I want!

Be a rebel! have something wild and crazy for supper tonite. Just not beaver!!

MaryZ, you need to loosen up....although I have never eaten beaver, I do not eat gray. No way, if it is gray it does not pass these lips. Why you ask. I do not know, I like gray slacks, gray tops, but not food. So you see we all have our limitations.

I have a jacuzzi in my master bathroom and I still have to clean that today and then I will be back to working on my late sister's projects.

Poor Ken has to go get 6 batteries for one of our golf carts. Heavy job there.

Last night we ended up finishing the hamburger soup. So tonight is this pork tenderloin on the grill.

Well off to work on that jacuzzi.

Good afternoon from warm, partly sunny, SW. Pa...We are to get rain starting later this afternoon but I don't think it's part of the nasty storm....I did talk to Terry last night and he said, he will probably just get rain and some wind but nothing too bad, thank goodness....But, I just can't imagine being in a hurricane and I'm the one who wants to live in Florida, lol.....If and when I get that chance and a storm headed my way, I'd be on my way to California....

Mary, We used to have little problems in our zoo when Clancy thought he should be allowed to eat everyone's dinner but these 2 are good...Maybe we do need a little more excitement...And, beaver was on my list a long time ago, along with most hunted animals....I have a simple potato soup recipe where, after cooking the potatoes, you mash half to make it thick....Now you have me wanting potato soup and I'm out of spuds....Hope you enjoy the movie, I've heard it's one of the best.....

Becca, So happy to see you back at the table....I sure have been thinking of you and really missing you....Sounds like you really are blessed with family....

Carole with an e, I go along with anything gray and/or sometimes shades of brown, lol.....How in the world did we get onto this weird menu, yuck! Would love to have your jacuzzi at my house... The last couple of nights I could have really used it.....

Chickie, I'm like Mary when it came to finding pets on the dinner table....But, the one thing I didn't mind too much was chicken, I really disliked taking care of chickens and when one went into the pot, I didn't shed any tears.....Guess that sounds terrible to a "chickie" person, sorry.......I still have nightmares about feeding those chickens, lol.....Poor Tinker, feel bad when a pet is frightened...Yesterday, Babygirl tried to practically crawl into my jacket with me while we were at the vets....Of course this was after sitting in the waiting room for 10 minutes with 5 dogs, 1 was a rottie.....

Well, sheets are just about dry on the line, Jim has been sweeping the porches and I still need to clean up the kitchen....I might visit (as Mary put it) the pet spiders and dust bunnies tomorrow....

Dinner tonight will be very simple, either burgers on the grill (if it doesn't rain) or maybe just hot ham and cheese sandwiches and a salad...........Still haven't made that apple pie...In fact, posted on Tina's FB page was a recipe for apple pie cookies and they looked so darn good....Maybe if I can find it again, I'll try those......

Happy eating....................

Good afternoon! I have to make it quick so we can go see Ava. Then I’m going to town to see Mom and get groceries today. My friend is still out of town, so no Saturday shopping!

Let me set the record straight: I DO NOT EAT RODENTS or much meat. I have fixed things for DH then thoroughly washed everything. Aaak!!! He will eat anything that doesn’t eat him first, I think. I don’t eat any of MY pets—cows or chickens!!! I don’t want to have a personal relationship with my food—that’s cannibalism as far as I’m concerned!

Irish—to thicken soups, I keep a box of instant potato flakes in the cabinet. I like to add them to potato soup and keep the “real” chunks. I love potato soup.

Mary—the only wild and crazy thing I’m fixing tonight is the leftovers from last night’s red beans and brown rice with sausage. I’d added quinoa (the colored varieties) to the rice for extra protein. Not too wild and rebellious today.

I need to check outside and see if I need to put on long pants. After more rain last night, a cold front came through along with north winds. It will be warmer tomorrow and back to upper 70s and a day or two of 80s next week. Crazy weather! I’m loving looking out and seeing the pond full and overflowing the overflow pipe! I had two straggler hummers today—one at the front feeder and one at the back feeders a few hours later. They sure seem late!

Carole—gray food… that’s interesting. I like gray clothes because the dog hair doesn’t show up as much. I sold my late DH’s golf cart and got my Bernina after he passed. No more batteries!

I’ll be leaving now… Enjoy your evening fare!
