SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 28th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 28, 2016 4:35 am

Good Morning,

They days just keep rolling by, don't they. My oldest DB, Gene, in Alaska said he had snow falling in his yard yesterday. Didn't get the ground white, but it did come down. Even by Fairbanks standards, this is a bit early.

Jim has been pretty lucid since his surgery. But that also means he's more aware of his prognosis, which is grim. He will probably be transferred to a nursing home today, perhaps tomorrow. I suspect it will be permanent, though I imagine he is hoping it's just to get his strength back so he can come home. Miracles do happen though . .

BECCA - thinking of you today! You have all my extra prayers!

TINA - I know you have an important dr appt today, too. And you get all my extra extra prayers.

CHICKIE - Glad your sis is back! Your Hooligans are - well - HOOLIGANS! lol! They must make you laugh a dozen times a day, at least. I know they make ME laugh! Good dogs!! I love 'em all!

CAROL - happy that you had nice A/C to work in yesterday. Do you have A/C in your house? Seems pretty warm when you got home for A/C. . . Thanks for your prayers.

IRISH - you're busy and we understand. Hope you are getting in some good Kathy time, not eating too many cookies, and enjoying this joyous family occasion.

JANA - Yoo Hoo!! Hope things are good at your house.

I have a massage appointment this morning. In 1/2 hour. My massage therapist loves brother Jim a lot so I have to let him know what's going on. He has been in Rio at Para Olympics for 2 weeks. His DD is in wheelchair and plays basketball and was on the team.

Supper here? Never sure these days. I think I will stop and get some buns so we can toss burgers on the grill tonite. I can make beans and we always have salad. And there are a few cookies left for dessert.

Bon Appetit`!

Good morning,

Mary - yes, miracles do happen, in fact all the time!

Yesterday went shopping with Sarah at Costco. Saw the premade smoked pulled pork. It was yummy. All you do at home is heat it and add your own sauce. Great for a sandwich or a salad. It was the Kirkland brand. My store sold the package of three pounds for 10 dollars. Very reasonable.

Dinner - still on the back burner.

Enjoy!

Good morning from sunny but chilly, Sw. Pa....AND I'm not ashamed to say, I kicked up the furnace a bit....I always remember my friend, Virginia in Florida, saying, she didn't more to Florida to be cold and I swear her heat would be on if it got below 70, lol....Not that I live in Florida, but I am not going to be cold!

Mary, very happy to hear about DB, Jim but then again, sad that he might need to stay away from home...And I think, if you, as you say, are lucid it makes it harder...AND please tell that brother to keep his snow up north where it belongs.....

Becca, sure am thinking and sending some prayers along for you today....But, am sure, you'll be back at the table before you know it......Take care, dear friend.....

Chickie, thank you, you really know how to make me smile.....

Tina, what's with the infection in your heart????My heavens girl, what next!

Today will be more baking...It's tough to bake with Kathy's DH around....But, I did tell him, everything that didn't look "perfect" he could have, lol....I have 3 more kinds I'd like to do between today and tomorrow...Kathy was treating DH to a couple days at a spa/resort in W. Virginia and then onto Cari's on Friday...From what I'm hearing, everything is ready for the big day....
Not sure if I had mentioned it but I did have a call from the VA and Jim will be staying in one of the homes near Kevin's for the weekend...It is a nursing home but they also do respite care and we will be telling Jim, the VA wants to do testing and make sure his meds are OK, not that it's a nursing home...I'm trying not to think about it but this sure is hard.....

As for our dinner, I have some left over swiss steak and extras...Jim actually sat at the table and ate, which we were thrilled about...He's also been into the cookies and I told Kathy, he can eat as many as he wants, they go good with the Ensure.....

Happy eating................

Good afternoon! We are loving the weather! Hooligans and I walked down to see Ava--she was full of kisses for Odie... so cute! Last evening we took a long UTV ride around the trails to wear out the Hooligans before bed time. It worked! We didn't get up until 8:30 a.m.!!! The night before was a barkapalooza every half hour.

Mary--I was afraid Jim's prognosis might not be great. HUGS!!! Best wishes to all of you!!!

Irish--you're welcome! HUGS to you, too!!!

Becca--wishing you a successful surgery and complete and swift recovery!!! HUGS to you as well!!!

Tina--you need hugs, too!!! HUGS!!!

Jana--you and I seem to be the "sturdy kids"... I'm still sending you HUGS--we can always use an extra to keep and pass on...

Dinner tonight... someone will have leftover baked potato soup, and someone will have nachos made with the leftover taco salad meat/beans. If it's me... SALAD! I dread winter and the end to my cherry tomatoes. That Alaska snow can stay up there!!!

Happy eating!
