SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Sept 27

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Sep 27, 2016 4:15 am

Good Morning!

I am happy to report that, while it took a while to clear out the previous patient from the OR for my brother's surgery, everything went well and we finally got to see him last night about 8:30pm. And he looked great! Alert, funny, and teasing my sister and me. Almost like he was before he got sick. I think he'll spend at least one more night in the hospital and then go to a rehab facility for a week or two. Thank you everyone!

IRISH - scary about the screen/window/cats. Glad all ended well! And fun to watch the eagles and their circle of life. We'll be looking for reports from you. I don't log on to the cam because I prefer hearing them from you! Does Kathy arrive today or did she roll in yesterday. I've kind of lost track. sorry. Have fun baking! Is the wedding this Saturday?

CHICKIE - would love to see you get a 'gentle rain falleth-ing from heaven upon your earth below'. Isn't that a bad take on the beginning of a Shakespeare soliloquy? Merchant of Venice? Can't believe that just popped up from the depths of my brain where I keep all my high school stuff stored. It got out!! Can't believe I spelled 'soliloquy'! lol! Glad you and the H's got in a nice walk to Ava's, too.

BECCA - I'm happy your massage was able to help relax you. Most times I come away renewed but sometimes, even the massage can't relax my muscles if my brain won't slow down. Will be sending you prayers, thoughts, good karma, and all I can tomorrow. Sounds like you have everything in order so you can go into princess mode tomorrow night.

TINA - are your folks closing today on their property? Hope that, and all the things you have to do to get them moved go smoothly.

Last night I had salad and BBQ'd pork sandwich makings all ready so when Jim went into surgery, Bill and I raced home (3 miles) and made hot sandwiches and cold salads and took them back to my DS and SIL at the hospital. Tasted like a feast. No leftovers! And tonite I think my DS is going to spend the night with my SIL (they were besties in high school which is how Terry met Jim) and we are going to friends' for supper. Going early so Bill can install some computer gear for them. So no cooking for me!

Wish I could take you all with me so none of us have to cook!

Tina Hope you are hanging in.

Good afternoon!

Ha, ha! Mary—I read “Merchant of Venice” in 9th grade. We had to memorize Portia’s mercy soliloquy as well as other portions of “The Merchant”. We are getting to walk in a few minutes… well after the mailman makes his rounds in his huge white truck that seems to be a dog magnet.

Mary—so very happy to hear that all went well yesterday/last evening! Best wishes to Jim!!! What an amazing attitude. He will be home very soon knowing his ability to bounce back.

Becca—all that accomplished so early! Ummmm… ice cream!!!

Tonight… Taco (salad) Tuesday sounds good to me! I pulled some ground beef from the freezer and will cook later…

I finished the quilting on the quilt and am getting ready to bind it. As soon as I finish I’ll be quilting and binding Mom’s quilt for my sister’s dog. (Eye roll!) (Sigh!) I’d really like to keep it, but I’d be in deep doo doo. My sister and BIL came home a day early (yesterday). Now I’m off the Mom Duty and can relax. It’s my worst nightmare that something happens to her while they are gone.

Today is a BEAUTIFUL day! We are at 78 degrees, sunny and breezy… pretty nearly perfect! DH and I sat out on the porch glider for too long, but it was so enjoyable… these days don’t happen often. There are only a few hummers stopping by now; the majority have migrated. I'll keep my feeders up for a couple more weeks with fresh nectar for any late travelers. Boomer explored the perimeter of the pond as we watched. When he barked, the other two ran to see what interesting critter he found. Tinker Bell just found the water and came back soaked. DH ran and shut the doggie door. Odie and Boomer came back satisfied with the scents across the pond. DH is off fixing fence now, and the Hooligans are more than ready for their walk. Hope your day is delightful!

Good Evening Everyone!
I sewed with the Guild doing a charity quilt project all day today. The room was air conditioned so I was nice and cool today. The temperature outside was in the 90's. Our house was 92* when I got home. Tonight's dinner was chicken Piccata. DH had rice pilaf and green peas, I ate a dinner roll. (I couldn't have the almonds in the pilaf, and there were too many to remove.)

Becca - You may not see this post, but hope you know my prayers will be with you tomorrow.

Maryz - Glad the surgery for your brother went well. The new diagnosis doesn't sound good. Prayers for him, his wife and all of your family.

Irish - Hope the cookie baking has been going well! I know you are enjoying your time with Kathy.

Chickie - Are you younger than your sister? You are such a great daughter and caregiver to your Mom, I don't think you should be worried about something happening on your watch. Your Mom has had an amazingly long and active life.

Take care everyone!
Carol
