SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Sept 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 24, 2016 11:36 pm

Good morning!

It's 0200 and I'm not sleeping. Not suprising. My back is scowling at me from working it so hard yesterday, plus my poor brother fell AGAIN! He landed on his broken arm. It is now displaced badly where it wasn't before. My SIL found him on the floor. She called 911 to help get him up in his chair. They were almost ready to leave when I arrived. I took one look at Jim's arm and ran after them and caught them just before they drove out. I could tell his arm was much worse than it had been. Off to the ER everyone went! It was overflowing with patients and Jim laid on a gurney in the hallway for 3 hours before getting an ER room. He stayed there for 7 more hours before getting a room in the hospital where he was put in traction. It's one adventure after another with him. And still, he's smiling and cracking an occasional joke. He's always been very funny.

IRISH - a good thing to try to remember - everything has a purpose. Didn't the Byrds sing a song about that? How exciting that Kathy and her hubby are flying in! I won't tell if it's a secret! I would love to see you give the bride and groom that Irish blessing!

CHICKIE - so you think by saying you are eating "Catholic" you can get catfood past me??? Not buying it, girlie!! Not at all! But I AM happy you had a nice visit with your DD and Tasha. Did she see her quilt? Is it done?

BECCA - you had a happy housefull, too! All those sweet little faces. i wouldn't mind a turn with that little Wren! After 20 years of working NICU I thought I'd had my fill of holding newborns, and for a while I had, but I'm sure missing them now. What National Park did you go walking in? Do you live close to the Blue Ridge Parkway? I guess I could look at a map . . . But asking you is more fun.

JANA - I hope we'll still be friends after my HAWKS beat your NINERS this afternoon!

With all the excitement yesterday we never got around to supper, but snacked on a few bites of the pizza that got lost in the shuffle of fractured arms, firemen, and ER's. And who knows what will happen today, but I'm still hanging on to my ravioli plan. What kind of plan do you have going on?

BECCA - black beans over rice sound delish to me! I love beans and I love rice. We drove the Blue Ridge Parkway back in 2002. So beautiful! I want to do it again and hopefully we can next fall. Keep an eye out for a red pick-up and a goofy black dog!

Good morning!

Mary - we will always be friends! I of course am rooting for my Niners, albeit except one. I have the game set to record, as we will be in church when it starts. Seems as if there are now two against my team now, you and Sue! GO NINERS! Lots of prayers for Jim. Your sister that is coming, didn't she fall not long ago too?

Dinner is a kind of fend for yourself. Not knowing if the kids will be here or not. If they are, i have my polska, broccoli and tortellini, and if it is just Michael and I, well do up a chicken breast with sliced tomatoes on the side.

Becca - you are a busy bee, getting things ready. Prayers for success in uour eye surgery. I understand macular as my mom had it too. Has the gas situation eased any yet?

Well need to scoot,
Enjoy,
Jana

Oh Mary poor Jim! That has got to be rough going for him and everyone else who loves him. Sorry you couldn't sleep, I've been having a little trouble in that department but I know what it's from. .. the news. ... some horrible women here in NM... Just breaks my heart and haunts my thoughts.
Jana, we maybe having chicken too :) I'm very upset at that one 49er too. ..I think he should be fired personally.
Becca, that drive sounds so pretty! I'm hoping someday! :)
Chickie, I got a kick out of your Catholic food post LOL how's the quilting going, finished?
Irish, going all is going good at your house.
Well Jaz came over yesterday and helped with the back yard, between all 3 of us we got it in really nice shape. ...3 hours of weed eating, mowing, raking and cleaning. .. not as good as I like to keep it but so much better and a very noticeable difference. We have an easterncool wind this morning :) feels like fall.
Frankie mowed the front yard yesterday so outside looks good :) I'm working on the inside as much as I can today. Mom and Dad will be here Thursday for their closing, Frankie is taking the day off to help me with the boys plus visit with them and we all have to sign papers.
We may have chicken our if I get to the store to get burgers may just have burgers on the grill. ... we haven't had them at home for awhile.

Good early afternoon from a sunny but still chilly to me, SW. Pa...But, we are going into the mid 70s so I shouldn't complain.....Don't tell anyone, but I did turn on the furnace, just to warm up a little...What is funny, it's probably warmer outside than it is inside......

Oh my Mary, so sorry to hear about DB, Jim...Now, enough is enough, he's had his share! As Becca said, his attitude has to be a big boost....Let's hope the upcoming days are much, much better....I have a feeling, there might be a nap going on sometime today in your household.....

Becca, As many times as we've been to N. Carolina, we've never been on the Blue Ridge Parkway....Have passed by so many times, and I've always said, next time.....Next fall, when you see that red truck and goofy dog, you might see this old lady hanging onto the back bumper....As Mary said, you really do have a happy house with all those little ones....Think about you often during the day....Hang in there......

Jana, I think I might be an ex "Niner" fan...I've followed them since Joe Montana was with them but sorry no more...It was the same when the Steelers signed on Vick, just makes my BP go up quite a few points....I always love to hear what's happening in your kitchen.....

Our breakfast was special this morning and Jim was surprised...He kept asking who was coming and finally I told him Santa Claus, lol.....I know he enjoyed their company...Kathy's very sweet, DH, even hand carried a box of home grown tomatoes....Almost too pretty to eat, almost.....He used a lot of fish heads when he treated the soil and Kathy is hoping next year, he cuts down a bit....Every weekend, she's canning something...They just left for Pittsburgh and see the Pirates, (hopefully win) and then back to Dan's...We decided, tomorrow will be cookie baking day....I can't believe this wedding is less than a week away..And guess who still needs to loose about 20 pounds?????

Our day is going to be very quiet, we'll probably both be in front of the TV, watching the game through closed eyes....Jim did watch some of the Notre Dame game yesterday and once again, they lost...Just a bad day for all our favorite teams but hopefully the Steelers will get it right.....
As far as dinner, I have some super good lunch meat and cheese, so I'm thinking, just soup and sandwiches...Also have left over breakfast donuts for afters..................

Happy eating....................

Good afternoon!

Mary—I am SO SORRY about your DB’s latest travails… poor guy, and he can still smile—amazing!!! So wonderful he is able to keep his sense of humor and not take it out on his loved ones! What a guy!!!

Aaaah… I thought if you thought I was eating “Catholic” you would be impressed and not hold it against me. LOL!!! This was some more of the bounty from the Florida guys, and it was awesome! Sorry!!! We did have a nice visit yesterday. Tasha saw her quilt and likes it. Actually for a teenager, I got a pretty good response although she tried to be restrained and act “cool”.

The Byrds’ song was “Turn, Turn, Turn” from Ecclesiastes.

Irish—that wedding is QUICK!!! I hear you with the 20 pounds to lose only I have many more than that! I wish I could get away with using the discarded fish heads in my garden, but even buried, the would soon be dug up and I’d have no tomatoes at all! Sigh!—I miss Joe Montana, too!

Becca—I always am up for beans and rice!

Tonight I have beef tips left from last evening. I also have some rice pilaf and can fix some broccoli and a salad… I also have baked potatoes and can make a potato soup… maybe tomorrow night.

Just had a text from one of the DGDs and she wants me to sew her patches on her letter jacket… sewing/mending grandma… She’s a sweetie, I can’t refuse although that means no quilting today probably.
