SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Sept 24th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 24, 2016 4:07 am

Good Morning,

Well, my half-birthday was half-happy. I did a little sewing, a little laundry, and he rest was just plain Sh---y. Jim & Terry stopped by on their way home from his appointment where he got the results from a full body scan. His painful arm is broken and surgery is scheduled now for Monday at 5:00 pm. His third fracture in 11 months and the reason is because he has bone cancer. On top of all his other problems. All the health problems have piled on Jim. And he's the nicest one of the 6 of us! There is no way he deserves this. My sister, maybe, but not Jim. (that was black humor. It runs rampant in my warped family, but we is what we is.) So, we WERE going back to the church today to bring home the last of those wood rounds, but now we're not sure. . . Terry will tell us what they want to do. Jim asked me for paper and pencil and he wrote out: "I bequeath my wood splitter to Bill". That statement said a lot more than anything about the splitter.

JANA - Prayers going out to Kate's dad for his surgery. There's always enough prayers to go around!

IRISH - cats! The things we put up with because we can't live without cats. (we can't, can we?) I sleep cat-locked many nights, one tight up against me on each side! You're right - I got more sleep when I had my people babies!

BECCA - no, Bill's family isn't too close, though they'd do anything for each other if asked. Happy Half-birthday late for you!! Yes, I celebrate all I can! and a 'birthday' where you don't have to add a year is a gift all by itself!

TINA - yard work! Ouch! You brought twinges to my back! Hope the sale went off without a hitch for your parents. Will be so much easier for you to have them close by, and also close to your brother.

CHICKIE - are you cooling down yet? And I'm hoping when you ride to Ava's on the ATV's that the hooligans also get to ride!!

I'm not sure about supper - again. I think since we never got around to eating dinner last night - just had chips and queso - we might have raviolis in marinara sauce. I need to clean the fridge and plan some meals since my sis is coming for 9 days to be moral support for my brother. I also need to get the trailer back to guest room status. Bill has been working out there, making shelves, moving towel hooks, etc. It's a mess. Though a good mess!

I hope your plan is a little more solid than mine!

Good early afternoon from a dreary, cold (by my standards), SW. Pa...Darn, our summer has deserted us and I'm not ready for this......

Mary, I feel so bad for your DB, Jim...And don't you wonder why this happens to good people...When Chris was 1st diagnosed way back when he was 17, I was so bitter....How could the Good Lord do this with all the bad people around, which was a terrible way to feel...But, then being around Chris and seeing how he handled it and how strong he was, helped make us all better people...So, as terrible as it is, there is a reason....Just know, he has so many people praying for him and your family......AND those cats, now that it's getting cooler, BabyGirl has to be under the covers, not just plopped on top of me...

Becca, glad to hear you had some cuddle time with the new baby...We haven't had a new baby in the house for so long, I mean, one of our's....I did get to share my sister's new GGS for a little while....Jim loves his Ensure, the VA sends both chocolate and strawberry...Of course, I'd have to add ice cream and/or strawberries if I drank it, lol....But, I'm just thankful, he has it....
Will be sending extra prayers your way in the upcoming days....Take care my friend......

Well, have to cut this short....I mentioned to Jim that we have to pick up a few groceries and now, he's ready....He doesn't know it but Kathy and her DH will be here for breakfast in the AM...They are flying into night, staying with Dan and then we'll be baking this week....
Maybe I had mentioned this before but Cari asked if I would "do something" at the reception...I said, sure, as long as it wasn't doing the jig....Well, she wants me to give the blessing and she sent me the long version of the Irish blessing....Now, I'm thinking, doing the jig might have been easier............

Not sure what our dinner will be....I might clean out the fridge or it might be soup and grilled cheese.......

Happy eating......................

I think I saw and I'm hoping this is right, but during the playing of the Anthem at the Eagle/Steeler game tomorrow night, Challenger, the eagle will be flying......
AND I'll bet you won't see anyone sitting!

Good afternoon…

Mary—I’m so sorry about your brother’s news. We found out my late DH had metastatic cancer when he broke his arm swatting at a bee. He died on my half birthday also Mother’s Day that year, so I try not to recognize either event any more. My heart goes out to you!

As for the Hooligans and the UTV… Odie rides. Boomer won’t. Tinker Bell sometimes gets on, but she then manages to step on my feet or the gas pedal or both… She is not encouraged to ride most of the time.

Last night we had a “Catholic” dinner… the kind before the “new” rules… Tonight we are meeting friends for dinnerat one of the steakhouses. It’s our 11th anniversary. It’s amazing it’s been that long! Seems like only a couple of years…

The cool front should come in tonight and bring a day or maybe a couple of rain.

My DD and DGD came over and had lunch with Mom and me today, then they came out to the farm.

We’re leaving now, so need to run…
