SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Sept 21

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Sep 21, 2016 3:44 am

Good morning!

The day got busy yesterday - but busy at a leisurely pace. I decided to make cookies so that, with cleaning the kitchen and the pantry ate up a lot of my morning. I got a bunch of things packed up to take to Autumn and ready to put into the trailer when we start packing for Texas. I gave the yard a few of my best hours and helped DH who was making some improvements in our trailer - moving towel bars, building some shelves, etc. In between times I started cleaning up the contact list in my cell phone. I added addresses, birthdays, photos, and deleted info no longer needed. It's a big job! And it's not done yet, but hope to finish up today. Today, more of the same except for the cookies.

IRiSH - you haven't posted in a few days and that always worries me, as I fear you are having a rough 'go' at home. Prayers, girlfriend!

TINA - I never had a swing until my third baby and I wondered how I got along without it! Glad you got yours fixed. And yay! your Christmas swap is complete!

BECCA - that's a lot of miles to cover with little gas. Prayers for your dilemma with your DH. Will you have a friend stay with him? We've learned we can't leave my DB alone any more. He won't stay put and then falls.

CHICKIE - I bet your quilt is beautiful! Tasha will love it! You're still hot, but at least you're a few degrees cooler today.

JANA - glad things are back to your normal! And glad your car will be purrfect soon!

I have a large cooked chicken breast to work with tonite. Maybe sliced chicken sandwiches and potato salad and sliced tomatoes. We can pretend it's still summer - which it's definitely not, here! We are lucky to reach 70* only on some days.

Happy today!

Perfect Lady: Good morning. Only 13 weeks until Christmas, I can't believe this. I was wondering when you had a hole cut into your table for machine, what did you use, or how did you make a platform for it?

Thanks.

Mary, yesterday at your house sounded busy, what kind of cookies did you make? When my kids were little I had the crank up kind of swing, they don't make those anymore sadly and if you find one they are considered antique and are $300! Crazy! I hope I get till the end of this school year out of mine, fingers crossed. These new battery operated ones sure eat up the batteries, wish I still had my crank one.
I gotta go look in the freezer and find out what's for supper.

Good afternoon from warm, sunny, summerly, SW. Pa...We are indeed back to summer, at least until the weekend and then only in the 70s.....

Mary, sorry to get you worried but we're doing OK, just slow, lol....You know how I used to say we were Frick and Frack, well, it's more like "Poke'along and Gimpy".....You really did have a busy day yesterday, didn't you? AND what kind of cookies did you bake?....I've finally gotten my cookie list made up for the wedding and hopefully, will get most of them done next week....Kathy will be here for a couple of days and promised to help....I feel bad for your SIL, not being able to leave your DB alone...Does she have someone to come in or is there an agency that will help out?

Becca, And, dear friend, I sure know what you're going through...Was your DH a veteran? If so, maybe they could be of help.....Has the gas situation improved at all down there? I talked to Terry last night and he was going out looking for a place that still had gas...

Tina, The swing came out after my babies were too big but I did have a canvas thingie with a seat that you hung in the doorway, some sort of bouncy thing and they loved it....But, whatever it takes to keep them entertained....How's things with your Mom and Dad?

Yesterday was our day to run errands (very slowly)...I finally got a haircut and then had to get cat food...Both of us were good and tired and didn't do much moving when we got back....This morning, Jim was up bright and early and by the time, I got my robe on and downstairs, he had the back door open and "was going swimming"....We filled in the pool way back in 1992 but I think he heard the neighbors saying they were taking their little ones to the Y and it just stuck in his head....I don't normally have to worry about him falling (although he did yesterday) but I worry about him wandering off...Oh well, we do what we have to do.....
Today, we did sheets and put them on the line...I'll bet anything, my neighbor, will be coming to take them down after they dry....Not much else is planned for our day, which is OK......

As for our dinner, when I see everyone is thinking of chicken, maybe I should do the same....Not sure what I'll do with it but something will pop in the old noggin.....

You all have a great day,
Happy eating...................

TV update: All you Survivor fans (I might be the only one) but, it starts tonight.....8:00 my time and I can't wait.....Not quite as good as watching the eagles but I look forward to it, lol.....

Good afternoon! Still hot here, but the index is a little lower. It’s still melting down weather!

Irish—I had a bouncy swing on eye screws in a doorway, too, for my “baby”. Great entertainment when I was busy in the kitchen and she could watch. When I had friends and family in VietNam, I made tons of cookies for mailing. I would make up all the dough ahead of time and freeze the individual cookies in balls ready to pop in the oven. I had marathon mix days and later marathon bake days followed by packing and sending. I started with the lightest colored dough then progressed through the darkest without washing bowls or utensils in between on mixing day. It was a pretty efficient operation.

Tina—that’s a crazy price for the “antique” swing! I never had the stand alone kind.

Mary—Tasha picked out all the fabrics when they were on vacation… mainly pink, black and gray. Eifel tower, antique sewing notions, map of Paris, etc. I think I will call it Paris Couture. I’m using a pale pink thread for quilting. I think I’m on my 7th bobbin… maybe more. Need to get busy on it again today.

The Hooligans and I will be walking down to see Ava unless I decide it’s too hot and take the UTV like we did yesterday. There wasn’t a breath of air stirring yesterday, and the heat index was 105. I wish when I melted that I could lose weight…

Tonight… rerun of lasagna, salad and cookies. I’ll be on Mom Duty starting this afternoon for a week. So, runs to town almost daily…

Enjoy!

Good afternoon!

Got laundry going and I cut up the pieces for my Christmas sew along - I am only 6 weeks behind! LOL I will get caught up - I tell myself, just one block a day, that is all we ask! LOL

Irish - I know when Aaron was doing search and rescue in California, they had a program that would attach one of those ankle monitoring bracelets on patients that would wander. It made it so much easier for the Search and rescue teams to locate the person before there was too much danger for them. You may have such a program in your area and that may help when Jim opens the door before you get there. So happy that someone is getting good help from the VA.

Mary - I get worn out even before my day starts with all that you get done! Autumn will love seeing you again in Texas for the Winter.

Chickie - you and the Hooligans are too much! Don't be afraid of feathers - just take a piece of paper and a pencil and practice drawing them on the paper. That helps your brain remember the movements to create the feathers. Also think about your pennmanship letters - handwritten "L's"(lower case) makes a great fill in border, as do any other letters. Just practice doodling.

Tina - your house is like mine - running after the grands! take care.

Oh yes, I think that jumper you hung in the doorway was called a Johnny Jump Up - I always wanted to use one, but the mouldings in the house in Concord would not work safely. My kids played in the walker that had springs so they could jump. Now, you have to have a truck to move all the gear that the little ones have!

Oh - dinner - humm - I think we will starve! LOL Nothing comes to mind and the kids all work late tonight.

As the old Columbo TV character would say - just one more thing - they are spliting the Ward on Sunday - we got the official notice - we do the Sunday bulletin each week, so we know what is going on for that day. It will be quite a change adding another Ward here. Our buildings each have three Wards in them and each Ward holds Sunday services for 3 hours. We overlap somewhat, one Ward starts at 9 am., the next at 11 am, and the third at 1 pm, so now that will add a Ward starting at 3 pm and ending at 6! It will be quite a change if we get that late Ward time. But you do what you are supposed to do!

OK, enough book today,
Enjoy,
Jana
