daily devotion 9/21

What a verse to hold true. As a child, I would never have thought I would be in the role of caregiver for my parents. I always told them that I would never let them go to a nursing home. My cultural background as German, where we care for our elders, not institutionalize them. I have a goo friend who is also taking care of her dad, she is from the Hispanic culture, and she too has the same ethical and family beliefs.

Now I know as a therapist there are some illnesses that need more direct medical care and you cannot always abide by what you at first decided. Life throws us some major curve balls throughout the game.

But, one way you can always hit a homerun is to follow the WORD. God gave us instructions for a reason. If we follow them life is so much easier.

May you all have a blessed day! If you are able, call mom and dad and say Thnx and I love you!

God bless
Izzy

Love that verse! If we honor our parents, we learn from them and take the teachings they gave us and improve on that. Raise our children better than we were raised. What a blessing it is to see my grandchildren learning and living the gospel. My children do honor their parents.

We had the same problem in taking care of DH's father. But in the end, we knew that his medical condition was beyond what we could handle. And for his safety, we placed him in a assisted luving center with staff that wss trained. None the less, Michael went over and visited his dad every day for several hours.
