SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Sept 20th
Good Morning!
no rain today! Yay! That means I should probably give the yard an hour or two of my time. and the house is crying for time, too. Guess I'll be busy today!
CHICKIE - congrats on the quilting! And this is only the beginning. After more practice, you'll breeze through it. My sewing table is a farm table and Bill cut a hole in it, making a well to drop my machine into. We happened to have that extra table, but I see farm tables all the time in thrift shops. Lots of sewing space on them. Just for fun, I later watched El's video (here on this site) of her son's making her table and she used the exact same table we did. But I have to say, when I did my quilting on my Bernie, I opened up the dining room table as far as it would go and sat the machine on the end. I rolled the quilt up diagonally (because I was stitching in the ditch and that's how the ditch went) and Bill fed the roll over my shoulder onto the machine and it went out onto the table. Then we turned it around and fed it through from the other end of the roll. I think it was this experience that caused Bill to suggest we buy the machine. lol!
JANA - nice to know you were missed! You know, if they can treat your leather and your paint, I think they should just include that in the price of your car. Same with undercoating. Funny joke! thanks for the chuckle this morning!
BECCA - wow! what an ordeal! but I guess you didn't have to worry about what to do with your morning! Glad you got a filled tank. how long does a tank last you with your normal running? I don't do a lot of driving in our car except for local running - and everything is less than four miles from our house so I can go about 3 weeks on a tank. I have a 12 yr old Camry.
TINA - I like your chicken fajitas idea from yesterday and think that's what I'll do for tonite. I have a lot of veggies to eat, and some chicken and some tortillas. Thanks! Glad you got your Christmas geese 'in the pen'!
IRISH - how's it going at your house?
CAROL - we can all meet at BECCA'S for a knit-knot, and I will be the one who chases down the Schwann's/UPS/Fed Ex guys for the rest of you. I, for sure, won't be the one wielding the needles! My friend who tried to teach me will attest to that! lol!
So, it's fajitas tonite for us. and some more sliced tomatoes on the side. Enjoy your supper!

Hello everyone.Nice sunny day here.
Maryz Today was much better.A tank will last us usually 2 21/2 wks.We live 8 miles out so We make our trips count.But next wk is surgery & its 85 miles one way.That is my only concern.Plus DD has to drive 31/2 hrs one way to get here.Then we have to drive to Asheville.Maybe it will be better by then.
Oh Maryz I am sure I could get you going with the needles.lol You could be our waiter.lol
Jana Nice to be loved.Our DGS that used to live here beside us always had to spend the nite when we got home from a trip.
Irish a Hoping you are having a peaceful day & Jim is staying inside.
Tina Glad you whizzed by yesterday.
Chickie Know Moms quilt turned out pretty.And you get all your quilt quilted.Will be pretty however you do.More courageous than me.I have never tried on my machine as I know it would be a mess.Just hand quilt them.
DH started yesterday wanting to go with me for surgery.And saying he didn't need a sitter.He is getting upset & antsy the closer it gets.I have to be a physriatrist sp DD cannot deal with both of us & it's hard for him to understand he can't make the trip.Prayers are needed.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Sept 20th
Good afternoon! I'm plugging away at quilting Tasha's quilt on my machine. I'm actually fairly pleased with most of it, and I'm refraining from being too critical and using my seam ripper. I had a table upstairs (before fire) that had been my dining room table with a homemade wooden top on a treadle sewing machine base. DH cut it and made a shelf so that my machine dropped into it flush. I loved it. I have several farm tables I've found around here, but unfortunately they have granite tops on them... the old fashioned granite like canners and dishpans. I'm not going to cut them. I don't want to cut my library tables, either. That's what I sew at now. I'm getting used to the process. My machine has a larger throat area which is a huge help. I upgraded to another used Pfaff a couple of years ago, and, except for not having a stitch regulator, I love it. I'm getting close to being half way through the quilting on this quilt.
The other day I saw a tutorial on quilt as you go with Leah Day, and I like her method better than any I've seen so far. I want to try it, but I have three tops together after this one. I definitely plan to use her method before long.
We are HOT again. Going for 95 with an index of 105! Aaaak!!! Other than going to see Ava, I plan to be inside... floors and quilting! For last night's dinner I found a lasagna in the freezer, and we had it. I have leftovers, but tonight we will have f--h that the young men brought, rice pilaf, maybe sweet potato fries and cherry tomatoes.
Becca--I used to do a lot of hand quilting, then I started sending quilts out to be quilted. I should spend more time hand quilting, but then I couldn't spend time piecing... So many quilts, so much fabric, so little time...
I agree--I think undercoating and paint & fabric/leather protection should be in the price of a vehicle. The prices always swell when you get the add-ons... tires, engine, wheels, seats, windows... The ads show a vehicle and a "base" price, but the "as pictured" price is always about $20,000 higher than the base price. I always wonder what the "base" covers... just sayin'...
I'm off to sew for a bit before we go see Ava... Enjoy!

Good morning!
Yes, there were some add ons with the car, but not too bad in price. The car came loaded with everything I wanted. We added the spa, with the salt on the roads, the under carriage definitely needs the protection and we added the extended warranty that covers everything, including the kitchen sink! Still looking for the sink -LOL
The kids are glad we are home, as I cook. Tonight I am making pot roast. Their favorite.
We are bracing for some heavy monsoon rains fueled by the hurricane off the Baja coast this week.
We too get a lot of time vetween fill ups on the cars. My Solara goes about 3 weeks, the truck is several months and the Highlander, we will see.
Enjoy!

Mary, what a busy day you had planned, I hope sewing and relaxing was somewhere in there. How is your brother doing?
Becca, I hope your DH is ok with you having your surgery.
Chickie, Yay for your quilting! I know it's good
)
Jana, I think we're supposed to have rains this week too.
I have another chicken breast so I'm making something with that, even if it's grilled and sliced over salad.
)
Not much going on here. I had to overhaul the baby swing, it was sounding awful and I don't want to be without it so I took it apart and it sounds so much better now, hopefully it will work as good as it sounds
