SUPPER CLUB - Sat. Sept 17th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Sep 17, 2016 3:45 am

Good Morning!

We got home from camping just in time. Rain moved in during the night. It it's wet here, you can bet it's WET at the ocean where we were camping! I got the laundry all done by suppertime, so today will just be wiping out the trailer fridge and shower, vacuuming the carpet and sweeping the floor. And it will be all clean for the next trip. Whenever that happens. We'd like to get in a few more days at a state park first week of October. We bought our Senior off season pass for WA state parks so we can camp for $10/night. So if all is going well with preparations for our Texas trip, then we might skip out for another few days

IRISH, IRISH, IRISH - I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! I think we all wish we were there to help you - but no one more than I! I hope you aren't in too much pain. I guess everyone is correct - cleaning is bad for your health! I'm so happy to hear that the VA is going to help out for Cari's wedding weekend. I know it's October, but I've forgotten what day, exactly. My Autumn was married Oct 19 - 13 years ago. Our friend's son is getting married Oct 29th and all the guests are supposed to wear costumes to the wedding.

BECCA - Stew over rice sounds good to me. I like almost anything over rice. In fact, I love rice! When we were little and Mom had leftover rice, she would warm it for breakfast and serve it with milk, cinnamon, and sugar, like hot cereal. My oldest brother, Gene, had me convinced though, that the rice in tomato rice soup was really ant eggs, so I wouldn't eat that! Gotta love big brothers!

CHICKIE - well, if you had some young men keeping you busy, I can see why you forgot all about us!!! lol! Your hooligans are funny! I guess Boomer is well-named if the thunder doesn't bother him. Scottie doesn't seem to mind it either, though hard to tell. We get very little thunder here. Enjoy your lunch with Mom! Our friend gets very good care from VA (the same friend I mentioned to Irish who's son is having a costume-themed wedding). But they wouldn't even talk to my brother.

JANA - well if it weren't for the reason for your trip, you could really be enjoying your little mini-vacation - new car, motel, restaurant food!

Today I have a luncheon to go to at high noon, in Tacoma. Really divides the day in half so I can't do much with either end of the day. Jim & Terry want Bill to fetch more wood rounds from the church for them. No other parishioners want it so they get it all. But the rounds that are left are so big, Bill will have to chainsaw them in half to get them into the tractor bucket, then haul them about 1500 feet and load them onto their flatbed trailer. It's a slow-going job. And it's pouring rain right now so I think that job will be put off. It can only be done on Saturdays because the tractor route runs right through the school playground. And Sundays there are Masses all morning long.

As to supper - I have leftover jambalaya and a little leftover chili. And lots of fresh veggies, so I think we'll make a meal out of that. And you know what I like? Scrambled eggs with a bit of chili over the top. You never know until you try it!

Good evening! This was a CRAZY day! I met my friend for coffee, and while there I got a text to come by my sister’s before going to see Mom. Cha had been doing some neat things with her glass and wanted to show. Also had another cup of coffee with her. Then I went to Mom’s. We visited for a bit, then I went to get the grilled chicken salads at Braum’s for our lunch. They are now the fall salads—chicken, walnuts, dried cranberries and apple slices with a Romaine based lettuce salad. So good!!! We were about halfway finished eating when I had a call from Doyal. He wanted me to go to Napa Auto Parts and get brake lines, etc., for his truck and bring them right out home as DS1 was working on his truck. I packed up my lunch, said bye to Mom and went to Napa. I was about 3 miles out of town when DH called again. I COULD go get groceries first, DS1 was going to work on the truck tomorrow… GRRRRR!!! I knew if I went back to Mom’s that she would be down for her nap, so I went on to the store. As I was filling my cart, my phone rang. It was Sharon at the Quilters Patch with the news that Mom’s quilt was finished being quilted. I told her I’d be there soon. So, after checking out and putting my cold things in my cool sack, I went by my sister’s and got her, then we went down to Edna and go the quilt. It’s beautiful!!! Just a simple largish meander—Mom does not like tight quilting—with the pretty lilac backing we picked out. Then we came back and gave Mom her quilt. I took my sister home and finally arrived back at my place at 5:00 p.m. I’d left at 8:30! Odie was running down the lane to meet me. He is vigil as he sits in the yard and listens for my truck to come down the road. I open my truck door, and he leaps up into my lap and smothers me with kisses and excited wiggles… all is good with him when “Mom” comes home!

DH was hungry, so I made him a hamburger with trimmings, and I ate the rest of my salad that had been cooling with the ice packs I added at my sister’s house before we went to Edna. I drove at least 100 miles today… maybe a little more by the time we went all over the area. I’m ready to be home!!!

Becca—I have had my pet cow step on my toes… OUCH!!! I try to remember to wear my boots when I’m in the pasture, but I’ve gotten stepped on in tennis shoes, too. Matt and Mike were a lot of fun. If anyone ever gets to Ft. Myers, FL, Matt owns Fancy’s Restaurant… it’s southern comfort food with seafood only on weekly specials or whenever the guys catch enough. He said their chicken and waffles is famous as is his mom’s red velvet cake.

I need to finish putting a few groceries away, then I think I’ll relax for a bit. Have a super evening!

Good Evening Everyone!
I have been having so much fun lately on the computer, however as you know it is not on this site. A few weeks ago I got the results of my DNA test and I joined Ancestry. I have discovered my Grandparents on both sides had brothers. (Funny thing is these recently discovered brothers first names were both Patrick!) On my Dad's side The Patrick married late in life and a woman 19 years younger. His children were at least 10 years younger than my Dad, but were my Grandfather's first cousins. I think one of them is still alive. I am trying to compose a letter to her.

I also have been taking knitting lessons. I think I am finally mastering it and becoming a beginner.

Tonight's dinner will be roasted chicken, mashed potatoes and a vegetable.

Maryz - I think you must feel about rice the way I do about spaghetti. I ate so much as a little girl my Dad convinced me I had a hollow leg. lol

Irish - I need to go back and read what happened to you, but you are supposed to be more careful. I wish I were there to help you. (((HUGS)))

Becca - Beef stew over rice sounds interesting. Hope you had lots of porch sitting today.

Jana - Hope you enjoy the drive in our new car. My sympathies to family and friends.

Chickie - Your day sounds busy. Glad the quilting is to your liking.

Carol
