SUPPER CLUB - Friday, sept 16
Good morning! Our last morning here. Heading home in a few hours. But first breakfast and one last walk on the beach. Been a very nice campout but home is calling. Yesterday we took a short drive and had a late lunch at a nice restaurant overlooking the water. Talked to manager and her sister manages a restaurant in gig harbor that we go to and we have met her. Small world.
Home is only 2-1/2 hrs away so we should be there by noonish. I will empty trailer of things that go into house, clean it, and toss in a load of wash. Then ?? I have choices- start fall cleaning, yard work, sew something, nap. Hmmmm. Wonder what it will be.
Supper is going to be homemade chili over baked potatoes. With some fresh veggies for pre-dinner snacking. Any supper ideas starting to percolate at your house?

Good afternoon from a warm but slightly overcast, SW. Pa....As long as it stays warm, I'm happy.....
Mary, it seems you were just starting out on your beach trip and by now, you're back home.....And of course, I'd vote for the nap, silly girl!
Becca, you're wishing for cooler temps and I'm happy to have it stay warm...For me, today, temps in the upper 70s and that's darn near perfect....But, you can feel Fall in the air....I'm hoping we have a good "leaf peeper" year.....
I had read in the paper about the new book out by Jennifer Chiaverini, "Fates and Traitors"....She tackles the life of John Wilkes Booth through the women who knew him best...Sounds like it will be very good reading...And I didn't know about a couple of her other books so picked them up today along with putting this new one on reserve.....
I can only say, I think I'm glad this week is ending....It's been a very bad week for Jim, with his not sleeping, wondering during the day and sometimes at night and trying to understand how to handle his way of living and I think I'm loosing that battle...We did have another appointment this morning for a memory test and of course he failed, big time...But, these dear people at the VA are really, really trying to help...Right now, they are making arrangements for him to have respite care for the weekend of the wedding...In talking to the family that is close, we have decided, he'd never be able to make the trip and would really be confused and this would be best....Even though it would just be for the weekend, this has been the toughest decision I've had to every make.....But, who knows, he might actually enjoy being away from me, lol....
And just to prove, cleaning is hazardous to your health, I'm limping proof....I was cleaning the basement, rounded the corner too fast and hit the side of my left foot on the bottom step...Well, there were lots of stars but very proud of myself because I didn't say any of those bad words...After hopping and moaning for awhile, we went to MedExpress and after xrays, sure enough, there's a broken bone. So, I'm now in a cast/shoe/boot thingie and the Irish jig has been put on hold.......So just a warning, don't do something stupid, like cleaning!
Thank goodness this is my left foot because of all Jim's appointments....We stopped at Kevin's on the way home and had a nice visit....Both of us are worn out so it's going to be a very lazy rest of the day.....
As for dinner, I'm hoping for grilled cheese and a salad.....That's about all the strength I can muster up......
Happy eating............
Eagle update....The happy couple in Ft. Myers has been working on their nest and getting a little frisky...At the end of last season, the nest had fallen so the new one is being constructed from bottom up....It is amazing how they fly in with branches and twigs and twist and weave them just so..What's funny, is watching Harriet "tell" her mate how to do it....Hoping for a successful eaglet season......

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Friday, sept 16
Guess who! I keep forgetting to get to the table. The young men who were setting up hunting blinds, cameras, feeders, etc. left early this morning. They said goodbye to us last evening. They were really fun… like more kids and around the ages of some of our sons.
Last night I fixed two lobster tails. They were awesome! Tonight it will be some leftovers or maybe burgers. It’s 4:00, and I have no idea. Guess I’ll take orders later. I had a snack of raw cauliflower earlier, so I’m good for awhile. I’m going to sandwich Tasha’s “Paris” quilt and get it ready to go on my machine.
We have had rain and or drizzle all day. When the thunder was happening I had 70# of trembling dogs on my lap… Tinker Bell and Odie. Boomer seemed content to sleep in the chair and not wake up. What silly Hooligans!
Irish—I’m so glad to hear that the VA people are giving you first rate treatment! We only hear about the bad ones, but I know several people who have nothing but good things to say about the VA. You are an amazing woman!!! Oh, I always think that housework can be hazardous for my health! You poor thing!!! I wish I was there to help you!!! Good to hear it’s not your driving foot and you don’t have a standard shift vehicle! Dinner sounds perfect. You can always call for pizza or Chinese delivery…
Mary—that IS a small world story! Sounds like a lovely vacation.
Becca—enjoy! Beach walking is the perfect walk! We are still warm here although today has been pleasant and WET. I saw where we are getting hot again Monday. Funny, I though 85 with 75% humidity was HOT yesterday… I haven’t dared to look at Monday’s numbers.
Tomorrow I go in for groceries, coffee with my friend and lunch with Mom.
