SUPPER CLUB - Monday, Sept 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon Sep 12, 2016 3:20 am

Good Morning!

We are headed into a week of nice weather - 73-80 and sunny. We'll be cooler at the ocean but still nice. That's 2-1/2 hours away. We leave in an hour. Got all our fur-campers corralled in the house, sleeping in their baskets in the sewing room. If they go outside, they may be gone for hours so we've learned to bar the doors while they have breakfast. Just a few more things to pack this morning, showers, and we will be ready to roll. DH says, though, one tire in the new trailer keeps slowly losing air. So I guess we'll be heading to Discount Tire on the way which is about 8 miles from here.

Our dinner at our friend's last night was SOOOO goood!! But no big name stars. I think she kept her guests to the "A-list". No "B-list" folks allowed. haha!! But we did meet another very nice couple and we hit it off very well. They also RV and just came back from a long trip so she had to have brain surgery for a tumor. But she is doing well - so far.

BECCA - I suspect your DS is in the air right now if he's going to go by my house at noon-ish. We are off St. Hwy 16, about 4 miles past the 1-1/4-mile long Narrow's Bridge at the Wollochet Dr Exit. I won't be here but he can wave to me anyway! We are pulling out our best fall weather for him! congrats on another new baby!! You have an exciting family!

IRISH - Bill asks me with some regularity, "Tell me again why it is we have to have cats . ." and sometimes it's hard to come up with an answer!! lol!! I hope you get your pizza tonite. If not, grilled cheese works for me!

JANA - I LOVE to be asked to make something special by anyone, but especially by one of the kids or grands. Whether it's food or quilt or anything in between. I bet your Batman cake turned out purrfectly! Happy Birthday to Logan!

CHICKIE - I know some kind of cooking is going on at your house. You have Mr. Doyal!

TINA - you are probably napping so I'll type quietly here.

Yesterday I made some homemade chili but I didnt' simmer it long. When we get to camp, I'll put it into the crockpot for the afternoon. I already have all the dry ingredients mixed together for cornbread so I can whip that up quickly to go with. and lots of fresh veggies and dip. In case you are interested, here's how I make my dip:

1 small container plain yogurt
a glop of low fat Miracle Whip
a small glop of Dijon mustard
(the original recipe didn't call for it, but I add a glop of low-fat sour cream)
a small glop of horseradish (you control the 'zip' with the amount)
dill
chopped chives or green onion
pepper (recipe calls for white, but I just use freshly ground black)

It's a great low-fat veggie dip, potato-topper, sandwich spread. and you can make it fat-free if you use fat-free ingredients. I usually get about 2 cups.
To me, a 'glop' is usually a heaped up serving spoon and a small glop is a heaping teaspoon.

We aren't taking computers camping, so I probably won't be here this week. But please, by all means, eat without me!

Good morning :)
No napping for me Mary LOL I was so busy yesterday that you would've thought I would've slept very good but nope. I vacuumed, mopped, did all the clothes including bed clothes, both bathrooms and kept the kitchen cleaned up as we ate. I was really tired and could've fallen asleep about 5 but Holly kept texting me and sending me pictures of what she wants to dress the kids as for Halloween and wanted to know if I could help her make costumes, well I'll help where I can LOL. Jazmyne is going to be Alice in wonderland, Easton is going to be the Mad Hatter and Preston is going to be the Rabbit LOL Holly said if she has time then she'll be the Queen of Hearts and Adam will be the Cheshire Cat, all sounded really cool to me!
I've started on my Cheerios for breakfast this weekend and really trying to load up with raw veggies. I'm not sure what supper will be yet, kinda depends on the weather but I'm leaning towards banned food and veggies.

Hello everyone,Nice day here.

Tina All those outfits sound cute but lots of work if you make them.I know it's hard to say no to DD or DGrands.I never have.Always said they thought I could do anything.

Maryz You should be on the way your time.DS is in the air.He even picked up acorns to bring to them.DGS wanted a few.Think it is to remember his roots.Know you have no oak trees.

Irish Know you & Jim are up to something. Not much going on here as DH is having a really bad day.I did get my walk in which helps.

Chickie We are all still rooting for you to somehow get a quilt of Moms.Know you do beautiful work but that isn't Moms.My Mom did us all quilts for when we got married.Of course then they were used for cover but I kept mine so I could pass them on.

Jana Hope Logan had a great Birthday.

DH only wants soup. Will be banned s----n for me With a salad & peaches. Becca

DGD said Tallulah is in love with Wren. And Sawyer loves being the big brother We were happy to hear that. Will see her this wk if Papa is up to it.

Good afternoon from sunny, gorgeous, Sw. Pa...It was cool (my opinion) this morning but what a heavenly nice day, we're having now....

Mary, by now, you are either getting that new tire or half way to the ocean....Would you believe, when my sister and I went to visit Kathy and she ran us all over, we couldn't find the ocean....There would be signs but Kathy told us they moved it...Of course this was after our wine tasting in Napa...Some day, I'm going to find where they moved it and hopefully stick my toes in that ocean....Happy, safe trails my friend.....

Becca, hate to hear your DH is having a bad day...Your DH has a lot of pain and I think maybe that is worse than what we're going through...I had to laugh at you saying, yesterday, we were up to something...OH yea, most of the afternoon, Jim wanted to "go home" so we got in the car and rode...After miles and miles (with a Library stop in between) we came back, pulled in the garage and he was fine....
Today, he decided to visit the neighbor, who lives in our old house....Put on his hat and was out the door and there was no stopping him..Thank heavens, they know all about him and Bruce is wonderful with Jim...After about 45 min. he convinced Jim to come back home and have a cup of coffee...I had called our oldest DS and he came down to corral the wonderer...Since then, he's been fine and even helped vacuum the bedrooms...There again, not sure what brought that on.....

Tina, there you go again, wearing me out....You are supposed to be taking it easy, aren't you??? But, so many times, when the little ones need or want something, that "easy" is out the window....And I hope you're not like me and wait until the last minute to get the costumes done...When the kids were in grade school, they would come home for lunch, get dressed and then have a Halloween parade in the afternoon and I'd be sewing snaps or tassels on as they were going out the door......

Well, time to get the kitchen cleaned and then Jim and I are taking a walk...He used to be able to go to the PO by himself but now, even though the PO gal put a big X on our box, he has a hard time..Besides, I really should get out there and walk.....

As for our dinner, once again, I have no idea.....I do have a bunch of frozen meals (left overs from other meals) and I might just check and see what might tempt Jim.....Never thought I'd say it, but I really do miss cooking.....
And girls, I did notice, since the Queen is away, the banned food is coming out......

Happy eating.....................

Good afternoon,

No banned here, the chicken and dumplings got bumped to tonight. I will start them in a little bit.

Irish - when you were in Napa, the closest ocean, was about 90 minute drive. Just beware, the ocean up on that end of the state is very cold. Runs about 50 degrees in the summer. Your toes may come out as ice cubes after a dip. That ocean is one of the few things i miss from California.

Enjoy,
Jana

Oh my you all are busy. Irish my daddy doesnt wander yet--although he does have sundowners at times and gets up at 1 am for supper LOL:) Poor momma could string him up on those nights but its far and few between right now. They started him on the second alzheimers med a lil help but not much. He still ahs no idea what day it is or if day or night some times.

Tina halloween costumes already oh my lol. minions is my vote:)

Becca i truly understand a DH in pain. poor dh back has been awful past week. He wore his estim to church sunday and had it on while he preached. thank goodness for his jacket so no one could see the white cord coming from his back to his pocket. poor thing is just struggling with the pain. Cant take anything but tylenol with codine and that just knocks him out. all pain meds are corticosteroids so no go for him. dr told him to take up yoga. good thing dh a preacher otherwise I am afraid a yoga tree would be where dr didnt want it LOL:)

Well supper tonight HUMM think it is egg rolls and chinese. I forgot to go to grocery so no milk or bread in house lOL;will pick it up tomorrow. getting groceries for p/u at kroger online. keeps me from having to go in and buy stuff dont need :)

I guess we are on the mary diet this week LOL she is not here to cook for us so its junk food craziness LOL:)

Good late afternoon! Our day started with a text from DH’s sister and a call from his brother… Wichita had 7” of rain last night, and her basement was flooded. She needed her brothers to come and get her cleaned out. So, BIL stopped by and picked up DH and off they headed. They will be back this evening. We haven’t had anything like that with rain… nothing here at all last night. Anyway, no cooking for me tonight as they are having dinner out. I just had some raw cauliflower with chipotle ranch dip. No DH home, no cooking!!!

Mary—Ha, ha! DH is always asking me why we have to have dogs. I just tell him they needed us and adopted us. How nice to meet another RV couple! Wellllllll…. So you will be gone this week without computers… I think I’ll be breaking out the human “cat” food!!! Heh, heh, heh!!!

Izzy—yum! I can always go for Chinese! That’s so cool to have groceries ready for pick up! I remember the neighborhood grocery stores delivered to your home, but that was a long time ago! There aren’t any neighborhood grocery stores any more.

Jana—I miss the ocean, too! I saw pictures of me on the beach in SF. We were so bundled up, but shoes off wading in the waves that rolled in on the sand. As I remember, the water was warmer than the air. It was also foggy. I still loved it!

Irish—It’s funny how things move after wine tasting!!! Oh, it’s so great that the neighbors know and look out for Jim. It’s amazing how the mind wanders… not just the ocean!

Becca—I appreciate your rooting for me, but it just isn’t gonna happen. A number of years ago for my birthday, Mom gave me a wall hanging she made from some blocks she had made in high school out of feed sacks and her dress fabrics. I loved it and had it hanging in my sewing room. Well… I had it for a couple of months, then Mom and my sister in town both called me and wanted that wall hanging back so mom could give it to my middle sister. I hung on to it for a couple of weeks or more, but they were relentless and ignored my pleadings that Mom gave it to ME for MY birthday. So… my sister got the wall hanging, and I got nothing. That’s just how it is.

Tina, Tina, Tina—you need to try to say “No.” I know you want to “help”, but I know you will end up doing it all. HUGS to you!!! It really does sound cute. Maybe you can do the Cheshire Cat from p.j.s or fleece and it might not be too hard. I make oatmeal in a mug for breakfast fairly often to help my cholesterol. Just heat the water in the microwave, add the oats, cover with a saucer and let it “steep” for a couple of minutes.

Guess I better get busy… a few chores to complete before DH returns. I sewed this afternoon and finished a UFO wall hanging. I also sat in the middle of the road and talked to DS3 after I’d been to the mail box and met him on the road. Since it’s a dead end road, the only travelers are us and the neighbors. We sat and visited for almost 2 hours! It’s his dogs I take care of while he is at work (paramedic on 24-hour or longer shifts).

Sorry I’m late, but not for dinner!
