SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Sept 9th
Good morning!
Definitely fall here! 49* outside. But we are going to mid to upper 70's next week. Of course, we'll be at the ocean, camping, so we'll be 5-10 degrees cooler. But that's OK because we'll be camping!
We fetched our friends from the airport last night and they will be off this morning. But I get one more morning walk with Chili before they go. Then it will be time to clean the trailer, wash sheets, and start packing some things for camping. We also need the oil changed in our Camry but that's 15 miles east of us in Tacoma and DH also needs to go pick up some steel 30 miles west of us in Bremerton. So we have lots of options to keep us out of trouble today.
BECCA & IRISH - when we're young brides standing at the altar, it's hard to take in what those vows REALLY mean - in sickness and in health. I so admire you both and also my SIL who cares for my DB. When my second late husband, Roy, was married to his first wife and he received his diagnosis of cardiomyapathy while only in his 30's and was given just 3 years to live his wife said, "I'm not sticking around for this", and she left! Roy lived 8 more years and I had him for the last 5! And I'd do it all over again! So blessings on your girls!
CHICKIE - you are probably off walking your hooligans and cleaning your floors. Hope you cool down soon!
TINA - You have a lot going on! Oats and cheerios on the cholesterol. It worked for me. Though it's back up again. I need to get back on my regimen. And I walk a lot. Your mom! She frustrates even me!
JANA - I thought of you and Ethan yesterday as DH's brother and SIL were visiting and they were telling us what their 13 y/o DGS will eat. Pizza is about it. And no one seems to care! Absolutely NO veggies, no pasta, no potatoes, and no meat. No beans, no dairy products. Just pizza. I thought, "Jana's Ethan really has it going on over this kid!" But for once I kept my mouth shut!
Supper tonite will be the veggie beef soup I made yesterday. It turned out pretty good for what it was. I prefer chicken soups, bean soups, split pea, and almost any other soup but I managed to gag it down! lol! I hope you're all able to 'gag down' your supper tonite, too!

Good morning! I think I forgot to get here yesterdayā¦
We had RAIN!!! The total here was 1.9ā⦠not a lot, but it settled the dust and gave everything a much-needed drink.
I decided to go to town yesterday between drizzles and stopped at Avaās to let her out before going on to town. Imagine my surprise when Ava and I came out and Boomer was begging at the gate!!! What a little cutie pill! He played with Ava, then went in with me to put her back in her kennel and give treats. I left him in the yard there and told him to go home. Then I drove to town. He was home when I got back. I know itās only half a mile from our house, but I was still surprised.
On the way to the store, I stopped to visit Mom. She was making a quilt for my sisterās dog using scraps from her 4-patch and strips quilt. Thatās a lucky dog!!! Wonder if I got down on all fours and begged⦠Iām just glad she is keeping busy and doing well.
Irishāsuch funny stories of new vehicles! So far, none of mine have talked to me⦠I guess if I get a new vehicle some day it will happen. Oh, mixed emotions for the move! I understand Nickās wanting to finish with his class. I hope it all works out for YOUR best!!!
MaryāI had to laugh about the flannel blankets!!! We are so steamy here! We are still around 90 with higher āfeels likeā indexes.
Beccaāit is usually walking the Hooligans or cleaning floors⦠both need it again today!
I think Iām going to turn some beef into a stew for dinner tonight. Itās not my favorite, but⦠We cleaned up all the tacos with taco salad and nachos. I also have a watermelon for aftersā¦

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, Sept 9th
Good late morning from a semi sunny sometimes dreary but warm, SW. Pa...We did have a little rain over night and was kind of hoping it would stay all day but who knows what it's going to do, lol....We know, if I had wanted to hang out sheets today, we'd have rain.....
Mary, thank you! Boy, you are so right in not knowing what the future holds when you're just a young lass but I hoping there are many of us who, like you, would do it all over again....I had always joked, Jim was the one that would be taking care of me and I sure hope he would feel the same way....
You mentioning the ocean has me dreaming but as I've told you before, I live through your adventures, so keep them coming.....Veggie beef is my all time favorite soup and mine very seldom turns out right and so many times, I ordered it for breakfast when we used to get together......
Izzy, that recipe sure does look good but I would be the only one eating...But, I did save the site to my favorites.....Would you believe, I have never had egg plant? Weird, right? There again, one of these days.....
Becca, was wondering about you this morning...Isn't your eye procedure coming up soon? If you're like us, the calendar is filled with those kind of things....I just had a call from the "Slice & Dicer's" office confirming Jim's appointment for next Tuesday. Here we go again.....
We're having an interesting day, today....Jim was up early but he has yet to really come downstairs and stay....He comes down, gets some Ensure and goes back up....Told me, he didn't want his friends to think he left them...Darn, he's having another party and didn't invite me! But, having him upstairs, at least I know where he is and not worried about him going out the door.....So, today, I'm going to try to do some mending, hate to mend or hem but it has to be done.....
For our dinner, I'm thinking maybe a scrambler, something easy and hopefully, agreeable with Jim......Might bake some cookies, maybe....And speaking of cookies, you all know, I have a wedding coming up and have had requests for cookies...I know, this has to be a SW. Pa. tradition but we have tons of cookies at our weddings...Kathy said, out West, people never heard of this so her mission in life is to enlighten wedding planners, lol....But, I have enlisted my sister and DDIL, Cindy, to get out their recipes and start thinking...At our last wedding, a dear old neighbor made hundreds and hundreds of cookies as her gift...She has since passed away and I'm hoping to get a peek at her recipes...
Happy eating..................

Mary LOL just imagine how frustrated I get, most days I think I would get more accomplished if I banged my head on the wall or talked to it than trying to get things through to my parents. But I love them and will be lost and heartbroken when they're not around anymore. LOL my favorite soup is veggie beef
LOL gag it down.
Chickie, naughty Boomer, glad he didn't get hurt either way on his little trips. My Mom made us a quilt 32 years ago, I sent it home with Rosebud to restore, it's hand quilted not by Mom but she had the Rebecca Lodge ladies quilt it, it's the one I made a new back for and she's putting another layer of batting, that should help it last for many more years
Maybe your mom hasn't made you a quilt because she knows you make them, I think you should ask her....She's probably just overlooked making a new one for you. Hugs
Izzy, I'll go look at that recipe
I made chicken and dumplings with lots of veggies lady night, I think we'll clean those up tonight

Hello everyone,Bit cooler here today.Feels nice.I thought when Maryz mentioned the sheets.Sure don't need them here.
Maryz We may not know what lies ahead at our Wedding vows but I took them very seriously. And like Irish would do it all over again. We had a good life before all his strokes & health issues. His pain now is controlling him.Sad to see.Thank you for your thoughts.I too don't like beef veg soup.
Irish My eye surgery is September 28. My DBs cancer has taken it off my mind. And I have peace about it where I didn't before.Makes a difference.I cracked up at you & your car.I would do the same thing.I hate the gadgets & computers.
I too would worry about Jim wandering off.My MI L would go out in her yard & get lost.
Sure hope it all works out for Nick & DS.To get moved near you.Hugs to you for a brighter day.
Chickie Sure Mom thinks you don't care for a quilt.Maybe you could drop a hint.Know you're happy she is busy.I think it's wonderful she still sews.
Izzy Your meal sounds great to me.I love veggies.
Tina I too would be frustrated over your Mom.Sometimes they get stuck on thinking only of their problems.Sad to say.Prayers for you to have the health to deal with them.
We had ribs in freezer already BBQ from a big bunch I made .Got those out. Will add fries for DH.For me salad.Cake for DH & ice cream. Becca
DS puts out feed for deer here up in our woods. He leaves a camara up to check the activity .The black bear we saw has been on it 4 times.Guess he found food & wont leave. We haven't seen it anymore.

Good afternoon!
Lunch was wonderful meeting Lori and Beverly. I had already met Vinae before. They are great! Now when do I get to meet the rest of you? They went off to a couple of LQS's and with my bad hip, I came home, so they could have a ton of fun.
Dinner last night was tacos, so I think I will do the famous chicken sonething.
Irish - you must not have attended a Mormon wedding reception. There are tons of cookies, and milk too. What's a cookie without milk? I love finding new cookie recipes. As you know, there are quite a few cookie monsters around this house.
Well, the laundry is singing at me - everything here sings or beeps.
Enjoy,
Jana

Mom doesn't make me quilts or my DD and DGKs... because she says I can make them just as well. I've tried to tell her it's from HER, but we don't get them. It's just a fact of life here. I'm used to it.
