SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Sept 6th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Sep 06, 2016 3:49 am

Good Rainy morning!

We have the remnants of a big storm that passed by Hawaii hitting us now. poured all night long and I see no let-up in sight until maybe this afternoon. I'm loving the rain! We needed it. And so do all our wildfire fighters.

BECCA - sorry your DH has trouble sleeping. My DB, too, keeps my SIL up at night a lot. They have separate beds now because he thrashes so much at night and has clocked her a few times. His Parkinson's meds cause hallucinations.

IRISH - I had never heard that before - about dogs flea meds not being good for folks going through chemo. Happily, I know no one at the moment who needs that info, but I hope I can retain it in my little brain to share when it needs to be shared. Thanks. So sorry about Jim losing interest in his sports. As we flipped through channels the other night we saw the Irish playing and I thought of you two.

JANA - that seems a short visit! Is it about a 12-hour drive back home for Daniel? You've said in the past, but you see, I know so much that my brain is full and if I try to retain one more little fact, then I'll have to give up some other factoid I've been holding on to to give it room in my brain. That's my story! I saw where your lap was in high demand at church on sunday! lol!

CHICKIE - your dinner and dance sounds like so much fun! and I've gotten to visit the hall where it was probably held! I love being able to have a semi-accurate visual of your activities. I feel like I have a nanny cam (that's my overloaded brain again!) on you! and your rassling hooligans! You went to a quilt show and didnt spend a penny? You are a strong woman! Though, to be honest, I've never seen deals at shows, especially Houston. It's just that it's all AVAILABLE there.

TINA - how was your weekend? How are your folks doing? They'll be closing on their property near you in a few weeks. Then the work starts. But your brother will probably help wrangle that, won't he?

Well, since the weather is so wet, it looks like an indoor day. What to do, what to do . . . .I could bake, but then we'd just eat it, and that's not good. So I guess I'll be forced to sew. Bill is working in the trailer putting in the cat flap so cats can go into the storage bay where their litter box rides. The trailer is under a shelter so he will probably continue his project. We leave for a short camping trip next Sunday (4 nights) and that HAS to be done by then. he has a lot of other things he wants to do, too, to make it more OURS, but those things aren't necessary.

Supper - I'm thinking on it. I'm considering making swiss steak and mashed potatoes. Then I can use the leftover steak to make veggie beef soup. I want to have a soup Thursday night to offer our friends when we get them home from the airport. It will be late - about 9:30pm - and they will be hungry. Soup and toast should hit the spot while they hug their little dog. Chili doesn't seem to miss them at all, but I can't tell them that! He is having the time of his life with Scottie.

I hope your supper plan is coming together . . .

Good morning! It’s hard to think of dinner when we haven’t had brunch, but it will be beef. We’ve had chicken a couple of nights and pork, so beef it will be with salads and corn. I really should make a dessert, but…

Soup sounds good to me, but it’s too warm to serve it to DH. Rats! I definitely have the makin’s for beef taco soup. Hummmmm… maybe tacos… those sound good to me now!

You all will probably croak, but I eat tomatoes for brunch… some mornings a full salad. Yesterday I added chopped jalapeno and onions and had a big plate of pico over lettuce. I needed the pepper to rev me up for the cleaning day! DH had biscuits and gravy… more traditional. We were both quite happy.

Oh, Mary—we could still use the rain, too. It was so dry last evening when we were out on the ATV. Everything was drooping. It’s warm again… 90s with heat index over 100. The dinner is inside, but the dance is set up in the street between the park and the community building. I guess the reason I didn’t buy anything at the quilt show is I didn’t see anything I needed, wanted or that caught my eye to make. I was more into the looking this time than the buying. I couldn’t believe it myself. Maybe I need a thread transfusion or something!

So glad Chili is having fun and not missing his peeps! He’s going to miss Scottie when he joins them! They will need to get him a brother!

Yesterday I swept and moped all the floors. I was one tired puppy when I went to bed. It needs a good polishing, but I don’t think I can keep everyone out long enough to get it dry or get all the furniture out in the first place…

I hope to get to my sewing room today… I think dinner should be fairly easy.

Enjoy!

Mary we had lightening, thunder and rain last night too from a storm coming up from Mexico, I guess we're supposed to have this weather for the next couple of days. I'm so glad we're getting rain! That's funny about Chili not missing his peeps :)
Chickie I need to mop my floors, I've been vacuuming them and dust mopping but I think it's time for a good washing, just need to do it before bed one night so I don't exhaust myself in the morning before the boys get here. Oh my brother shared a chicken chili relleno soup on Facebook, I think that'll be supper one night soon, it sounds delicious!
Oh Mom and Dad are coming down today to sign the extension for the closing, not sure if they're coming out to the house to see me and the boys....She hadn't decided yet. She has a bone marrow procedure scheduled for Thursday at one hospital and Friday she has to go to the other hospital in Cruces to get her lung drained again.
I think chicken will be on our table tonight, maybe I'll make the sesame chicken strips that Frankie likes so much and green beans :)

Good early afternoon from a very, pleasant, sunny and warm, SW. Pa....We're having another darn near purrrrrfect day...Not sure what I call purrrrfect but this is pretty nice.....

Mary, Gee Whiz, you might have to stay inside and sew, that's really a shame, lol...I'm trying to get my sewing mojo back, haven't done any since I finished Cari's shower quilt...At that time, Kathy was staying here so I closed up the machine and it's been just sitting there, waiting, ever since.....It's been kind of hard, just because my machines are upstairs and most of the time, Jim is downstairs and I really don't like not being on the same floor with him...I can relate to your DSIL being "clocked" during the night...My senses now have me prepared for those nights..Those meds can sure do a number on a person....Jim is constantly seeing people in the house.....

Chickie, nothing wrong with eating tomatoes for breakfast/brunch or any other time....The tomatoes I got at the farm are so good, I had one last night before I went to bed...It's a wonder I was seeing things during the night, lol.....But we have to enjoy them while we can....

Early this morning when Jim brought in the paper, BabyGirl decided to go out and he didn't see her...Well, I'm thinking she's still upstairs sleeping and didn't notice until Kelly started walking around looking for her and making funny noises...Well, the hunt was on and panic was setting in...I'm outside calling her and shaking her treat jar and finally, she comes running through the yard and had been under the shed...Poor thing had been out for about 2 hours and was scared to death...She literally jumped in my arms and cried...Now she won't let me out of her sight.....

Not sure what I'm going to make for dinner...Jim informed me, he didn't want ANYTHING today....So, just not sure what I can tempt him with......He's even stopped eating goodies......You would think I could maybe drop a pound or 2 but find I'm eating more junk....Yikes!

Oh well, as Donna Summers (I think that's her name) sang, We Will Survive!

And I have a bit of trivia, makes me smile every time I hear Piggly Wiggly....But, the first self-serve grocery store, Piggly Wiggly was opened in Memphis on this date back in 1916....This store was set up to allow customers to pick their groceries from shelves rather than request them from a clerk behind a counter....
