Helen, make sure it's Vitamin D3.
I take 2,000 - 4,000 iu a day.
Few years back, I read that people in their 80's should be on higher Vitamin D3. I had Mom taking 4,000 or more a day. Went to the Dr. with her and Dr got upset. I showed him the article and he just set it aside. Before Mom's appt was over, Dr. said he wanted a blood test, I quickly said he should include D on test. Guess what...Mom was still low on D. Dr never admitted that I was right.
We don't get enough D3.
Hope it will help you.

Both my husband and I are deficient. I take over the counter but he was taking a 50,000 IU once a week. BUT! It made him really sick. He had to stop it. He would be sick to his stomach in bed for several days. The dr told him about patches for vitamin D that goes into your system slowly. Isn't it something? Our doctors have told us to use 100 SPF lotion if you go in the sun. We listened and now look.
