Good Morning!
The dog!!! He's on a 4:30 kick lately. Driving us crazy! 5am is fine, but 0430 is still night! If he doesn't knock it off, he may find himself sleeping in the garage! (not really. It's all just talk.)
CAROL - I like that recipe for butterscotch brownies. I'm going to make some this morning and take to friends' lake cabin today.
TINA - your poor mom! I think patients across the country need to revolt against incompetent and thoughtless doctors and their staff!! There seems to be an epidemic! It's been amost 40 years since my nursing school days, but I'm thinking red blood cells are manufactured in the bone marrow, mainly the femur and the pelvic bones and some white blood cells are produced in the spleen and the lymph nodes.
CHICKIE - i need to look up that sew along you are doing. Sounds interesting. Sometimes, when I want to quilt a smaller project on my Bernie, I use a Frixion pen and draw the pattern, quilt it, then iron it to make the ink disappear. Which reminds me, I need more Frixion pens!
BECCA - I hate just having annual medical appointments. I would probably be a real crab if I had to go to as many as your hubby and my brother have to go to. When I make chocolate brownies, I always add in a generous glob or two of peanut butter - 1/2 to 3/4 cup. and I like to sprinkle chopped peanuts on top.
We are off this morning to have breakfast with Jim & Terry and this afternoon will be spent with friends at their lake cabin. Not sure what kinds of things will be offered for food, but I'm sure there will be plenty of snacks.
Seahawks play tonite so I hope we're home by 7pm!
Go Hawks!

I don't think I could do a ,4:30 wake-up call Mary, not lately anyways. I've been staying up till 11 watching the Olympics. You day sounds fun.
Chickie, my mom would spaz out on me if I even suggested that LOL I suggested Dad go in with her all the time and her with him and I got royally chewed out. When my aunt (mom's sister) was having some minor health issues her husband and daughter would go off to thecasino and her husband would take her to a mental institution because he had POA on her from when she had been bad sick the year before. After the 3rd time of him taking her they told my uncle they couldn't accept her anymore because all the of the other times which had a mmandatory 72 hour observation for each time should she was perfectly sane. Mom and Dad were so upset about it that they said that better not ever happen in this family! It about killed me knowing that was happening to my aunt, I always talked to her several times a day. I called adult protective services on my uncle and talked to my aunt's attorney, nobody would do anything and she lived in Terre Haute, Indiana too far away from us to be able to help.
I think I might try that brownie recipe today.
We had chicken strips and salad last night. I sure would like to do banned food tonight.

TINA, I remember when that was going on with your aunt. I hope things are better now?
Just wanted to say that I made Carol's butterscotch brownie recipe this morning. My taste tester pronounced them 'Great!' And that was from someone who doesn't really care for butterscotch. (I never knew he didn't like butterscotch . . )
My SIL cancelled breakfast with them this morning. My brother is hurting too much. I think the fall he too the other day brought home to him his limitations. Part of me is relieved because maybe now he'll use a cane or walking stick or wheelchair. (it was the walker with wheels that caused the accident). But part of me is sad for him as this realization comes to him that now even simply walking is beyond him.

Good morning! We are overcast today. The hummingbirds are sucking the feeders dry as fast as I can fill them. I wonder if some are already traveling south or getting ready for the journey. It seems early.
The Hooligans are still sacked out. If they don’t start sleeping at night, they will find themselves locked out of the doggy door. (Again, just talk... but DH might really mean it.) During full moon periods, there are so many more shadows and who knows what boogers might be lurking in them… They all have to go out and raise a ruckus and scare off all the boogers they perceive to be there… about every half hour all night. One goes out and patrols then comes back and sets up a barking call. The other two explode off their various beds (sofa, bed, chairs) and fly out barking and snarling at the top of their voices as they go. Needless to say, DH is NOT a happy person! It usually levels out after the big moon nights. Some nights they bother me, but other nights I hardly hear them at all. Good thing we don’t have neighbors too close, although I do hear Zeke and Luna across the road scaring boogers at their place sometimes.
Mary—I think you are right about the blood sources, but I’ve been out of school way longer than you have! Don’t take my word for it. This quilt is at least 50 inches square, and I just have trouble manhandling it around my machine. Plus, I’m so not good at free motion quilting, even marked. My machine’s foot doesn’t let me have much view, either. I like the Frixion pens, too.
Tina—sometimes you have to step in to save parents from themselves. I had to go with MIL to all her appointments, because she came out without the foggiest notion of what they said and what she was supposed to do. I also made her appointments to fit MY schedule. I went with my late DH to all his appointments with his cancer as he heard nothing they said about treatments, prognosis, or anything. It’s good to have two sets of ears plus a notebook and pencil… It’s too bad your mom is so stubborn. It could save everyone a lot of frustration. That’s so sad about your aunt! One of the sisters-in-law works for adult protective services in KS. I don’t know if they would do anything for that or if it needs to be violence, neglect or stealing. Everyone has such a heavy caseload that it is hard to work anything except emergency situations… so unfortunate!!!
We ate everything that could be described as left-over or must-go here last evening. So… tonight… I have to cook. Sigh! I’m thinking maybe some fried rice and some kind of beef. I have some sirloin tips thawing. I’m sure it will morph into something edible…
Enjoy!

Good morning from a gorgeous, sunny, very pleasant SW. Pa..We have a gentle breeze and it's just a purrrrfect day.....
I have a feeling I didn't make it here yesterday but to tell you the truth, yesterday was a total waste...Not sure why other than it was dreary and that made Jim and I both "dreary" and it seemed, everything time I sat down, I fell asleep, lol...One bit thing that did get accomplished, (after getting the evil eye from the fur kids), I did go to Walmart and got cat food, that they probably will sniff, turn around, swish their tails and walk away...I spend more time reading cat food labels than doing my whole other shopping..And you know, I'm not alone, I've met many others doing the same thing and you do meet the nicest people at the cat food aisle....AND then on the way home, my car pulled right in the Subway lot, Oh soooo good!
Mary, Really had to laugh at "the dog sleeping in the garage" yea right! That's like me "threatening" my fur kids and then giving them treats.....My human kids would never have gotten away with what these "kids" do...Your day really does sound good...I do miss our breakfasts out and the rides we used to take but I'm finding, sitting on the back porch or taking a walk down the street is as good as those rides....Hope your Hawks have a good game...We're still into baseball and have been watching the Pirates....
Tina, Oh my, your poor Mom...And I agree about the incompetent but mostly thoughtless doctors and staff...And your poor aunt, that's terrible...It is so hard to see things happen and try to correct them but it goes no where....Thank goodness your parents have you in their corner.....Every day, I say a prayer for you and the family....
Carol, you certainly are spreading your goodies around...I have copied your recipes and then next time I bake, it will be the brownies....I'm anxious to see what your next dinner will be.....
Mary and Chickie, almost forgot, the name of the stuff that Terry used is Capstar...He did say, it's mostly a short term fix and then he stared using Advantrix...But, he did say, the stuff worked and you could actually see the fleas dropping off the dogs..When he used it is was just a couple of $$ for the pills but now, on line, it is more...But, he said it worked.......
Today is a semi ugly day...Had been cleaning the basement and the trash man isn't too happy (but he should see the basement, lol)...Got the 1st floor all done but will leave the upstairs for Sat. Tomorrow, we go for Jim's VA appointment and then he has a foot dr. appointment in the afternoon....A gal friend said she might stop over sometime today so it will be nice to sit and have a cup of tea and catch up....
As for dinner, I'm still thinking of spaghetti and meatballs that Mary was making and although I don't have the meatballs, something with sauce would taste pretty darn good.....And always need a salad.....
Enjoy your day
Happy eating..............

Hello everyone.
Well I see Drs are being discussed. That brings up my BP.With all the running I do for DH It will try your patience. And then they will change on you or not call back on follow up.Our primary care Dr is great but the others are lacking.I try to just sit & be calm but the other day he was on a roll.I told him when the Dr come in if he didn't stop I was going in hall.I laugh a lot or life would be hard.lol
I love Dogs but if they woke me at 4:30 they would be in the dog house for sure.lol
Guess I too will try the new recipe too.Must be good.
Maryz Sure sorry about your DB.DH has walked with a cane many yrs & it has kept him from falling a lot of times.
Irish We do find porch sitting & the walks very relaxing. My walks mean so much to me.Of course I love the Outdoors.
DH has his stew left.A salad will be for me.I have lots to load it down with.Just went to Market this morning, Becca

Well, now the afternoon part of our day got cancelled! My friend, Esther, has plantar fascitis so bad that she can't walk at all. So we're tentatively re-scheduled for Sept 10. So I've started planning meals and packing non-perishable food in the trailer for our upcoming week of camping. Now I think I'll visit my sewing room.
