SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, August 14th

Good Morning!
It was good to see my son and DIL yesterday. They will be back today to finish up their quilt. It's turning out very nice. My son tells me he does all the cutting for Emily, using the rulers, rotary cutters, etc. and he was very conversant in fusibles and other quilty terms. I'm so proud! I told him he's the daughter I always wished I had. Who knew my SON would be my quilting child!
Bill and I are in a quandry. Our fifth-wheel, which we love, is 15 yrs old, and has about 150,000 miles on it. He was underneath repacking wheel bearings the past few days, something he does every year, and found shackle bolts broken and other parts of the suspension system worn out, cracked, eroding, etc. (do I sound like I know what I'm talking about?) He made some calls and the right repair would cost $2,000. Last year we had another costly repair on worn out parts and the year before that was something else. We hope to be able to travel another 15 years. Should we bite the bullet and buy a new trailer now, or keep on fixing this one? That's our conundrum. We aren't making payments on anything else right now, so financially, it's time. When I look at the new rig that we'd get (same as this one but new) I get stars in my eyes. But then I wake up in the morning, panicky at the thought and sad to think of giving up our old trailer (I'm emotionally attached). and so it goes. I can't wait to see how this story ends!
IRISH - was the shower yesterday or today? Is it just ladies, or does everybody go? Nowadays, men often attend showers, too.
TINA - hope you got some rest yesterday.
CAROL - sorry you are without a car. I'm such a homebody, I feel kind of a relief when I'm left with no transportation. I'm forced to stay home with my sewing machine! my son and DIL chose the quilting pattern - pine cones and needles - from Bill's selection of patterns he has in the computer. It's purrfect for their quilt!
CHICKIE - I'm very interested in that 3-month treat flea med. guess we need to do some research. And you are so right! Trying to dig down to the skin through Scottie's long, 7-inch coat is almost like mining for silver! Sorry your kitty moved on. Did you see that Michael Phelps' baby boy is also a "Boomer"?
JANA - how is the landscaping going? Sounds like you've got the little Tonka team and the big Tonka team!
BECCA - I doubt we'll have bears in our yard anymore. Almost all the wooded lands around us have now been cleared for big housing developements. But we still have the occasional coyote.
the kids are staying for an early dinner today and my grandson is also coming by to look through Warren's furniture to see what he wants for his house. DIL is truly allergic to gluten (not just getting on the bandwagon), so I had to scratch our first menu. We're going with grilled chicken, mashed red potatoes, green beans, salad, and root beer floats for dessert.
What's the story at your house?
