SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Aug 10th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Aug 10, 2016 5:25 am

good Morning!

I have good news! My brother's cancer re-check yesterday showed no ca anywhere and his kidneys are happy and functioning perfectly. He gets rechecked in 6 months. Now if we can just get him to stay off his feet and let the stress fracture in his hip heal, he'll be doing OK. My sister was also at the doctor at the exact same time only in Colorado. she tore her hamstrings 3 weeks ago and is showing some healing. she starts P.T. now. My other sister's fractured elbow is healing fine. My siblings are keeping me on my toes!

TINA - are you feeling better today? do you think it's allergies and not a cold?

JANA - how did the kids' design appt go? When did you say they can move in? Bet they'd love to be in their own home by the holidays.

CHICKIE - you know we all have a little mental video playing in our heads now of you and your day at "Hooligan Spa"! lol! So what is this product that is better than Frontline Plus? Oops! Never mind! I see you answered my question. You are HOT! Good days to stay inside and sew!

BECCA - wishing your DH good news at his dr appt tomorrow. Enjoy those tasty treats from the garden! I miss a garden but it just won't grow in this yard. so many evergreens shade us and leech the soil nutrients.

Oh, IRISH - I don't know whether to laugh or cry at your post! you have such a patient attitude towards everything. How do you cram all that adventure into two days?! I bet we all wish we were there to help. and when we were done, we'd call the Schwann's man (the cute one, of course, with the shorts!) and have him deliver us a decadent dessert and we'd all sit down together and gobble it up! (((hugs!)))

I made enough supper last night for tonight as well. So I guess we'll re-run the sweet and sour meatballs. BTW, the meatballs are frozen, from the good folks at Costco. Way better than any meatball I ever made myself!

Good morning,

Today will be whatever is in the upstairs freezer. You see the basement freezer is Kaput! But Michael gave it the old technicians hit and it is running again. All the meat is at Sarah's house and if needs be, the rest will go to Ceenda's. A new freezer is being shopped for.

Mary - that is w9nderful News!

The design appointment went well. They only added a few essential upgrades. They are hoping to be in before Christmas, but are planning the worst case scenario of January sometime. The move won't be hard, as the storage unit that has their stuff is within a 100 yards of the new home. So even if it's snowing, it won't bother too much. About all that is here is beds and clothes.

Enjoy,
Jana

Mary, I think and hope it's just allergies, although right now I feel horrible because I woke up at 4:20 am .
Irish, I laughed and about cried and wished I was there to help and give you a hug!
Jana, oh no the freezer went out?! I hope you didn't lose any food. I hope the kids get in their new house before Christmas for sure!

We ended up having bean tostadas last night so tonight will be my leftover soup.

Good early afternoon from, yep, once again, heavenly, SW. Pa...Probably a little warm for most of you but darn nice for me, lol....(As Jim as often said, I must have ice water in my veins).....

Oh Mary, Your good news was what I needed to "make my day".....And it sounds like the rest of the "hurts" are coming along...Geesh, your sibs are enough to turn a person's hair grey.....And boy do I like your idea of helping out especially the part about the hunk in shorts......You know, if I plan things right, I have Mr. Schwan one week and then the UPS man the next delivering Jim's Ensure...Life is good!

Chickie, I'll be sure to ask Terry what he uses on his dogs...I just know, it's in pill form and very inexpensive...Thinking of you and the doggie spa had me thinking back when we had our Suzie...We usually took her to the groomers but every once in awhile, we had to knuckle down and I swear, she knew we were "thinking" about giving her a bath...She could find more hiding places than enough..What was funny, she loved the pool and even sent down the slide a few times...With the cats, there is no way I'd attempt a bath!

Jana, how exciting for the kids to be picking out things for their new home and know, in a few months, they'll actually be moving in....Not too exciting for you and a "dead" freezer, but just think, shopping, new......

Tina, allergies can be tricky...They thought my sister was having a stroke and after all the tests etc., found it was allergies...Her's are mostly smells, scents and boy does she have a list..We walk by a candle shop and she starts....Sure hope you get some answers and feel better soon.....And for sure, I'd appreciate having your help but mostly, love the hug......

So far today, it's been a pretty quiet day, not as much fun as yesterday. But, that fun didn't stop with the flooded basement and the dust covered house...Oh no, while outside trying to get the front porch back in shape, me not wearing any shoes, stepped on a hornet....After doing a non-happy dance (which should have been recorded), I sat with ice on my foot for awhile...Then about 7:00, decided to get the carpet off the hedges, roll it up and put it in the garage for the night...By then, both Ted and his wife, Donna, were right there to help...This too should have been recorded...4 old people trying to roll up a semi wet carpet and then drag it to the garage...Oh well, the fun just never ends around here.....had a call from Kathy and her flight gets into Pgh. around 11:00 Friday and thank goodness she's renting a car...It takes us a good hour to get to Pgh. airport, right through Pgh. ugh!

Oh well, my tea break is over and now I'm going to tackle the bottom cupboards in the kitchen...Almost afraid to see what might be hiding under the sink, lol.....
For our dinner, I'm thinking something with sauce...I do have tortellini in the freezer, some good Italian bread, throw a salad together and we're good to go.......

Happy eating.....................

We had a thunderstorm pop up last night—2 inches of rain and a two hour power outage! It was pretty exciting. Of course, the guys had mowed hay yesterday afternoon, so it will take extra to dry out. It didn’t affect today’s temperatures too much, as when we went to see Ava at 1:00, the temperature was 90 with a heat index of 111! Another thunderstorm is trying to pop up—thunder rumbling and overcast… waiting…

This is Tasha’s last day here. We haven’t gotten anything accomplished. She hasn’t felt well so just pretty much laid around texting her friends. I think the teenage syndrome just took over!!! Her family is coming tonight to pick her up, and we are all going up to the corner for chicken-fried chicken or chicken-fried steak—the Wednesday night special. I love not having to cook!!!

Mary—great news for your brother and your sister… hope the other heals as well. Muscle tears take so much longer than a bone fracture, or so it seems. The Hooligan Spa video in your head couldn’t be as crazy as it was in real life! LOL!!! Enjoy your vision—it really was a hoot!!! I really am looking forward to cooler weather, and I hope to not complain this winter if it is super cold!

Jana—glad you have family close with freezer space!!! We’ve lost our freezer and contents… not good!!!

Tina—so sorry you still don’t feel well. I take a generic Claratin every day, and it seems to have made this summer easier for breathing. What was the name of the Mexican-style zucchini again? I should have copied a recipe.

Becca—hope it goes well tomorrow!
Irish—I know… Tinker Bell… the WATER DOG who NEVER misses a puddle, creek, pond, brook, slough, lake and takes a dip… she hates the bath!!! Suzie was quite a mind reader—LOL!!! They seem to know… We start by locking the outside doggy door so they can’t escape there. Then we lock off the sewing room. They pretty much can’t hide, unless Tinker Bell decides to go under the bed. She tried the bathroom closet, but we shut the door there and the bathroom door once we got her in there. It’s a big laundry/bath combined, so lots of splashing, shaking (cleaning) room! I must say, I have bathed a few cats. Brutus was not afraid of the water and didn’t mind it at all. Carmica was a whole nother story and everything you heard about bathing cats!!! She didn’t have front claws, but she could sure shred arms with those back ones! I’ll look forward to hearing what Terry uses!!! Let us know when you schedule another flood-UPS-Schwan’s-FEDEX week!!!

So far the storm is still just rumblings and overcast… still waiting…

So happy not to be cooking tonight!
