SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Aug 6th
Good Morning,
Well, yesterday started out on a downer note - we got word that Warren passed away in his sleep sometime in the morning. We hurried to his assisted living facility to be with his DD and SIL. They were alone there with Warren and pretty distraught. Stayed with them until they left and said our good-byes to our friend. Everyone will miss him, but really I can't be sad for Warren. he had been more than ready to join Lois ever since she died 2 years ago. I can picture their joyous reunion, dancing in sunlight! I couldn't wish for anything more for them.
BECCA - your stir-fry sounds so good to me. I haven't made that for a long time. I think I forgot about it! Going to put it on my idea list that I keep in a drawer.
JANA - sounds like your little helpers need some Tonka trucks and equipment to help level 'their' part of the yard while you work in 'your' part! Happy birthday to your sweetie!
TINA - Bill refuses to Weed'n'Feed our lawn. He says it just grows and then he has to mow it. haha! I can't argue with his logic!
IRISH - I'm chuckling and so is Bill over your "uglies are done early. Lack of sleep makes you weird." comment! When I'm up at night I'm either here or reading. I never do anything constructive. But if I'm angry, ten you can watch the dust fly! I try not to get angry much any more. Stew is another thing I'm going to put on my menu idea list.
CAROL - we are a small group who can say, "I slept in and didn't get up until 5:30." Some would call us crazy. Well, a lot would call us crazy. But I love early morning.
CHICKIE - you are probably busy trying to keep up with Tasha and creating culinary delights to tempt Doyal!
Today we're going to Bill's retiree BBQ so I made a potato salad to take along. I added bacon bits, chopped dill pickle, chopped black olives, and chopped green onions, and just a bit of horseradish for a hint of zip. I hope there's leftovers!
I hope you find zip in your supper!

Good morning,
Mary - you asked about the picture- it's about 2 foot wide and 5 feet long and it is a oil painting, impressionist, of a sand dune at the beach with a picket fence showing the pathway. Lots of dune grasses in the picture, no water. Reminded Michael of where we went on date and the same area for our honeymoon. It will hang in our bedroom, over the area where his desk will be. That wall is common to my great room and soars to the ceiling by about 15 feet, plenty of Room!
Dinner will be out to celebrate Michael's bd. Debating Olive Garden for Italian or Lone Star for prime rib. He doesn't know yet, but both places are in the same parking lot more so he can choose then.
I also got my iron gate wall decor for a spot in the house. We are taking it off of the board it is mounted on to put the little iron gate on the wall. The board will be turned into a hat rack for Michael's collection of hats.
Well need to scoot,
Enjoy!
Jana

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Aug 6th
Good late morning from another great day here in Sw. Pa....We did have a few sprinkles early this morning but the sun is out and it's just a super day......And this might be a "baby day"...She went in early this morning but things have slowed down and it might be a C section.......
Mary, I did feel sad when I read that Warren had passed but then in reading about his joining Lois, that sadness turned into tears of joy...I often think about those reunions in Heaven when our loved ones have passed...I do often think of Jim's Mom and her comment to our Chris and she wouldn't hold back, be glad to see him but way too soon....Jim's brother actually put 2 bottles of Irish whiskey in the casket with Chris, 1 for him and 1 for his own son who had passed a few years ago...Now that would have been a reunion....And speaking of Chris, today would have been his and Kathy's 38th anniversary.
So you and Bill had a little laugh at my weirdness...Oh I could keep you in stitches for a long time......
Your potato salad sounds delish, I might have to put that on my list.. Did you hear that, Carol????
Since the uglies were done and there wasn't enough laundry, I have a day off and it's driving me crazy.....I did finally get the names put on Cari's wedding sampler and do need to get it framed and make sure all the threads are clipped off the quilt and get them wrapped....
I might ask Jim if he wants to go for a ride....We can always find things to get at Aldi.....And, since it was another very early morning, I might have to take a nap.....
For our dinner, left over stew, what else......
Happy eating.............

Hello everyone,sunny & hot here.
Maryz my house is in better shape than I realized.I have more dishes & glassware that needs to go.I have give & give away but plan to get it all out ,sit on a table. When they all come for the 60 th anniversary I am going to say take your pick. That will help a lot.
Irish Our porch sitting would be soo much fun.Wish it were possible.DH is having a bad one today. But maybe tomorrow will be better.Think of you when I see the deer here eating our goodies.Enjoy your stew. And hope it's a good one for you & Jim.
Oh I must tell about yesterday. After DH laid down for his rest after lunch.he got up & couldn't find me inside or outside.Even called my phone with no answer.Of course he panicked. Was fixing to call DD & tell her I was missing.Tried one more time calling me & I answered.I need to put a bell on myself.lolI was down in my flowerbed cutting weeds.& pulling weeds.Never a dull moment.lol
Jana HB to DH.The picture sounds lovely & with great memories too.
Carol You do always have great meals.Makes me fell insecure.lol I used to but not anymore.
Tina Hope things are good your way.
DH asked for sweet potato soufflé so I made some. And I have turkey sausage to make & corn on the cob.pound cake & ice cream. Becca

I'm finally making it here today. My day didn't go at all as I had planned but it's been a good day. One of Frankie's brothers made a surprise visit and about when he was ready to leave Holly and the kids came over so he got to meet Preston and see how much Easton has grown since he saw him as a tiny baby. I had to do bills today and balance my checkbook because I didn't get it done last weekend, finished that and the kids went home except Jaz, she's spending the night. Kevin text and he's on his way over to help Frankie and get some fence for their new rental so his doggie is safer. He'll be staying the night.
Becca, sorry your DH is having a bad day.
Irish, I hope all is good with the mommy and baby.
Jana, that's a high wall!
I'm making chicken fried steaks and mashed potatoes and gravy and salad.
