SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 12th
Good Morning!
I'm more better this morning. I'm waiting for the morning when I wake up without a sore throat! I'm running low on bread as, like Chickie, scratchy toast feels good going down. But I am slowly improving.
CAROL - Happy Birthday!! So sorry I missed it yesterday. Blame fatigue and meds and lack of sleep. 'Cause that's what I'm doing! I hope you had a nice time at dinner and maybe a sweet surprise or two!
JANA - men are so funny. Don't you wonder who takes care of the ones with no wives? Glad you found the wallet! And maybe he should consider a mouth guard for nighttime. . .
TINA - enchiladas sound good to me! But maybe after my sore throat is gone. I see that today is pecan pie day. Hmmm.... maybe we should celebrate . . .
CHICKIE - your pile 'o' veggies sounds good, too! Odie! What a card he is! Glad you find him helpful!
BECCA - protein is in lots of things besides meat - dairy products, beans, grains, eggs, etc. so I'm sure you are getting enough. We don't eat a lot of meat either.
IRISH - we think of you daily, sweetie, and hope you are coping with life at least as well as can be expected. Hang in there!! We love you!
And supper - we're about out of soup. Maybe we'll grill some burgers tonite. I have two buns in the freezer and they should come out and get et. Or perhaps we'll have sloppy joes. I know salad will be on the menu because our tomatoes and avocados are getting elderly.
What sounds tempting to you tonite?

Good morning one and all!
Mary - saw your new truck's name - BART, you drive a traun? That stands for Bay Area Rapid Transit, in our language. That's where DH worked for 40 years! My Solara, aka, a camry without 2 extra doors, is 16 years old and going strong too.
Today will be anything I like, as DH will be eating soft food and soup. His jaw kept him up again last night, so we are off to the dentist in a little bit. I need my sleep!
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Morning!
Maryz - Yes I had a nice birthday. I finally got out in the car by myself and ran errands. It wore me out and I took a nap. lol Glad you are feeling better.
Jana - Hope your DH is a good patient. Usually, it takes a while for the dental work to feel better.
Becca - I am glad to hear your temperatures do not soar into 100's very often.
Today we are having pasta and meat sauce. I think I will be able to prepare dinner. (I just took the meat sauce out of the freezer.) I will wash the salad greens and see if we have any french bread in freezer. We have ice cream and cake for afters if we like.
I am going to my small sewing group today. I am not sure I will be able to sew but will try it out. I only have this bandage on until Friday morning. I can't wait to get it off!!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Wed, July 12th
Good morning from a very sunny, warm, SW. Pa....Yep, it's me, I think I'm back...Any more, I'm not sure about anything, lol....
Mary, so sorry to hear you aren't feeling up to par...It's just not like you to be sick, but so glad to hear you've been to see a doc and starting to feel better....
AND a huge thank you for "making me laugh"...Often during the day when I need a laugh, I just have to pick up that book...Works every time...
Becca, also thank you for your special message...I don't like being in this little "club" of our's but it's good to have someone who knows what I'm going through....I pray for you and your DH every day.....
Carol, a happy, belated birthday....Don't just stop with a 1 day celebration, keep it going all week...
As I had told Mary, I thought I just needed a good kick in the pants but a good talking from my doctor friend also helped...He said I was headed for another stroke if things didn't change...You know, it's OK if the carpets don't get vacuumed every day, or if the windows look smudged, close the drapes and it's OK to sit on the porch and watch the weeds grow.....Taking care of Jim is my main job, no matter what...I often think of my own Mother and how she took care of my Dad...He was diagnosed with melanoma and for someone who had never been out of the county, she took him to hospitals in New York City and thought nothing of it..We had a hospital bed in our dining room and the last 2 months, my Mom never left that room until the day he passed....Until then, I had never thought of her as a strong woman but she was special..I'm hoping some of her strength has rubbed off on me.....
Today, the sheets are drying on the line and the garden is watered and that might be it for the day.....
For our dinner, Donna, buddy Ted's wife, came up with a nice zucchini so I might just have to stuff half of it and shred the other half for bread...If not that, there's always burgers or hot dogs on the grill and of course there's always ice cream for afters...........
Happy eating..............

Home from the dentist. He was a very good patient. Tooth under the crown was the offending culprit, so it is now gone and we will get a implant in a couple of months after everything is healed. He is doing very well here at home.

Good evening! I’m late, and I know it. I forgot to post here and haven’t been on the computer since early when I had to quit…
Mary—it’s strange how that scratchy stuff makes a sore throat feel better… at least for me. Glad you’re feeling better!
Carol—I, too, forgot to say a Happy Birthday to you! Hope you had a great day and a wonderful year ahead.
Jana—I have ridden the BART. I’m glad someone else drives a semi-vintage vehicle. Millie, my millennium (2000) truck is 16 (Nissan Frontier Desert Runner—aka DESSERT Runner according to DH), and DH’s Ranger and Mazda are both 17 (1999) vehicles. I love my truck and hate to even consider replacing her… not in the immediate future, for sure. Hope your DH got some relief at the dentist!
Irish—it’s so good to see you here!!! Hopefully we can cheer you up and help you through your hard days. I feel I walked in your mother’s shoes when my late DH was bedfast at home on hospice. I only got out of the house to get the mail for 5 months. I telecommuted my work with the help of my DD who was also at the university and would bring things home and drop them by for me to work on at night. She picked them up and delivered them to my boss the next morning. Your doctor is right—sit on the porch and watch the weeds grow. RELAX and don’t sweat the small stuff—in the end, it’s just STUFF!!! Even the stuff we think of as “big” is just STUFF!!!
Dinner here was fajitas made from left-over steak. I even hid some julienned squash to the peppers and onions. We’re having the peach pie I made yesterday from the peaches from our little tree. I picked another gallon of blackberries yesterday and almost that many today. There are at least 10 gallons of berries in the freezer!
We had a surprise today when the hooligans and I went to see Ava. She gave “Grandma” a gift certificate to the meat market in town and left treats for the hooligans. She has a great mommy!!!
Chow!
