SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, May 12th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu May 12, 2016 6:43 am

Good late morning!

I had a blood draw this morning. DH got up at 0500 with the 'kids' so I could sleep a little longer and that I did! I didn't get up until 0600. One less hour to go without my coffee! He's a kind DH.

IRISH - I have an eagle update for you! A happy one! Do you remember about 2 months ago we had an eagle who got her foot caught in a tree? She was stuck for 2 days before being rescued. She went to an eagle rehab facility, though they held out little hope for her ever being able to survive in the wild again. But yesterday they released her!! She had a broken foot and a dislocated hip. (who knew eagles had hips!?) I hope she's able to get back to her real life and that, if she has a mate, he hasn't moved on. I hope your Cari brings you some sunshine! Though I hear even FL has been having some rain . . . Just giving you a heads up. Love your grandkitty stories. Of course, Gram must spoil them!!

JANA - It is always so much fun at your house! All the kids in your life - your own and everybody else's, are so lucky to be there - in your life!

CHICKIE - I am wishing you some gentle rains to falleth upon your flowers. Our Chinese restaurant is a lot of breaded and deep fried foods, too. And there is one seafood platter that comes complete with baby octopi, its tentacles all curled up. How does one eat something like that??? Double ick!!

BECCA - I made my decision on the baby quilt. It's a pattern called "To Owl a Good Night" and is in a magazine, BH&G's Quilts and More, Spring 2011 issue. I Googled it and found it here:

I am switching some of the fabrics to pink. It doesn't look too difficult.

TINA & CAROLS - I hope you all are having a sew-happy day!!

We have plenty of leftover pork chops, mashed potatoes, green beans for tonite. And CHICKIE (or was it Doyal?) reminded me that I forgot to bring out the homemade applesauce! So that will make an appearance tonite as well.

What's appearing in front of you this evening?

Good afternoon!

This morning I went out and picked strawberries from the “tub”. (It’s a big horse watering tank that has a leak… no good for holding water, but it holds a LOT of manure and makes a fine raised bed for the strawberries we planted last summer. I got (barely) enough, but I made a batch of strawberry jam before the Hooligans and I went for out walk. I have 7 half-pint jars cooling on the table.

It’s a beautiful day here. Again, no rain, so we have been watering.

Yes, I made DH fried apples to go with his pork chops last night. He was one happy, happy guy! He should be just as happy tonight with the last of the chops and apples along with a baked potato. I think there is enough broccoli left for dinner as well as portabella mushrooms for me. There will be salad and afters might just be jam and bread!

Mary—I like the Owl quilt! I think I might remember seeing it or one similar. I don’t like calamari (octopi). The only time I tried it—I chewed and chewed and chewed. It just seemed to get bigger and more rubbery—like a huge wad of rubber bands. Aaak! I’m sure sometimes it’s better, but I will leave it. A baby one might be more tender… just sayin’.

Becca and Mary--keep hoping for some gentle rains for the prairie!

I’m trying to work on Bloom today. The Hooligans and I went and visited Ava after I finished getting the jam out of the canner. They are circulating now like they want to go again… hummm…

No eagle stories here, but the orioles are so beautiful! They visit the humming bird feeders, their nectar feeder, and their jam feeders… yes, 2 of them. One is a purchased feeder hanging on the clothesline post, and the other is a tuna can nailed to the porch rail. The red=bellied woodpeckers seem to be enjoying that feeder as well.

Enjoy!
