Good Morning!

Yesterday I ended up putting in my sewing room, refolding some of fabrics to make more room on my shelves, going through my 'strips' containers, magazines, travel projects. Then I finally chose a baby quilt pattern and started messing it all up again! A busy day! lol!

IRISH - so happy Jim's wallet has been found. And that you will be building a new cat with your "findings"! You can never have enough cats, you know. (I'm sure Bill will agree with me, so no need to ask him.) I'm glad your nephew is home, recovering. Doesn't mean I'll stop praying for him and the other family, though. Thank you for the sweet words on my Seahawk quilt. I wanted to show you all, as I'm kind of proud of it. It's all my own design. But Photobucket and I haven't come to a truce yet.

JANA - sounds like your Stu really has it all together! He should give life classes! And and fun to teach what you know to Andrew! Nice to be asked!

BECCA - Glad your DH's wallet has been found, too! Since 'wallet loss' seems to be going around, maybe I should empty Bill's wallet just in case he loses his, too. Winters here can be pretty damp, but summers are usually nice from Mid-July through first of October. As a rule. That being said, the climate is changing. We rarely get snow any more and winters are dryer. And our usually wet springs have been more like summer. All that being said, your DGS has different weather than we do. He gets more rain, more snow where he lives even though he's only about 90 minutes from me.

CHICKIE - glad the storm didn't blow you away. The national weather map always looks like you are going to get hit hard. And then we worry. You've been busy! I bet your mom really enjoyed seeing all the blocks you took for your show'n'tell visit. Sorry about your migraine. But nice that you didn't have to cook! The Chinese restaurant that we've gone to occasionally here is pretty Americanized, too, I believe. They told us once if they served true Chinese food, no one would ever come back!

Well, The Casserole has come to its end so it's time for new food. It will probably be pork chops on the grill, mashed potatoes, and salad. DH has approved and the chops are already thawing. Looks like it's a 'go'!

Mary - I guess I should remind the girls here, that people in Washington don't tan, they rust! LOL

Dinner - today the car chooses - we eat out on Activity Day. The girls will be here - I need to fix a couple of boo boo's I did with the pattern they are using, that means I will rip out the mistakes and they will re-assemble again.

Good afternoon from warm but only partly sunny Sw. Pa...Can't complain, not that I ever would, lol.....

Cari just called me from the airport (she's flying down to join the rest of her family at Disney) and she promised, she'd send or bring sunshine back with her...And she always pleases her Gram....

Mary, I'm sure Jim would agree with Bill on the cat situation but you don't have to ask him either....And speaking of cats, Dan's 2 fur kids were sitting in the window waiting for Gram to come and play this morning...Oh my are they nice....And because they were so nice, I had to get them more treats and a toy when I was shopping....You know how grams are......

Becca, it must have been "lost wallet" month, lol...What a worry, not so much for the money but what a pain to have to replace the cards etc. Thank goodness, both were found...Now if I could just find some of the other things that have disappeared at this house....As I've said before, each day is an adventure and I'm very blessed to be a part of it........I'm afraid Jim's days with the S & D will never end, but it's something that has to be done and he takes it all in stride...And there again, very thankful we are able to go and have this done.....

Jana, I see you have your car trained....What are the girls making? I think it's wonderful how you teach them so many things...Very fulfilling also....

This morning, Jim and I did some running...He needed a new electric razor and of course there's always cat food to be had, books to be taken back and then another stop to play with the cats....It's not quite dry enough to work outside so it's back to the sewing room....
I did have a call from my sister and my nephew is coming along, aches and bruises all over but doing fine...But, his girlfriend was rear ended yesterday on her way to work..She's fine but car has damage...Beginning to wonder when it will end....
And still no word on the little eagle from Ft. Myers and that makes my heart hurt.....

As for dinner, I think I'll keep with the pork chop theme....They didn't make it to the oven last night so hopefully, tonight it will happen....(Not even sure what we had last night)...And we still have a couple cookies and some good ice cream left for afters.....

In case you all are waiting with baited breath for our Penguin Hockey update...............Penguins won in overtime and will go on to play in the finals in our division....It was exciting, don't know how many more of these nail bitters I can take......

Good afternoon! We are expecting a thunderstorm this afternoon, and it’s starting to cloud up… such is summer afternoon life. Crazy how everything builds and then misses us—I am NOT complaining, but we can use some rain! Hail would be disastrous on the wheat crop (DS1 and his employer have a bunch planted, and harvest will be in a few weeks). Rain would help the wild blackberries (and all the fruit trees, tomatoes, “tame” berries, and my flowers). The wild blackberries are LOADED with hard little green knots. Sufficient moisture would make a banner crop of berries! (More work for me, but DH would be soooooooooo happy!)

Mary—the Chinese food consists of mainly American dishes—mashed potatoes and gravy, fried potato wedges, French fries, and a bunch of similar stuff. I want “real” (or at least ALMOST) Chinese food…no pets or other critters—I’ll stick with chicken, pork, beef and seafood, thank you, but I would like some authentic recipes and seasonings… not just piles of deep fried stuff. It’s hard to find anything there that isn’t breaded and fried. I want more vegetables and clear sauces and less breading.

We had pork chops, baked potato and salad last night with FRESH STRAWBERRIES from the yard last evening. Tonight will be more of the same, except DH noticed I forgot to make fried apples, so I’ll add those this evening.

I’ll vouch for climate change… armadillos now live here year around. They weren’t seen 25 years ago. Ticks also survive above ground year around. It used to be that winters froze them, and they didn’t come out until late spring. We also don’t have as much snow as we used to.

No sewing yesterday. I worked outside all day. We planted the last of my tomato plants… cherry tomatoes. I also picked the strawberries and did general yard work. Have loads more to do, but it’s really warm out today. I got overheated yesterday, so I think I’ll lay off out there today and work inside… floors. If I’m lucky, I’ll work on Bloom!
