SUPPER CLUB - Monday, May 2nd

Post by purrfect-lady » Mon May 02, 2016 3:21 am

Good Morning!

We had such a nice day yesterday with Mary, Sue, and Kenn. All the quilt shops were closed, so we all five strolled our little waterfront and hit a few neat shops. I forget what a pretty little town we live in here. It's good to have visitors now and then to remind us. We had lunch at one of our favorite watering holes and then stopped at our Christmas Shop on the way home. DH built a campfire and my brother, Jim and his wife, Terry showed up. Finally we put Sue's pork chops, on the grill, added her macaroni salad and we tossed a green salad. Ended with a nice visit our our covered deck, overhead white Christmas lights sparkling and the sound of our tinkling fountain. We were all yawning by 9:30pm. Today, not so quiet! The men are going to the old car museum, one of the largest in the country. They are taking Jim, too. We girls will finally get to hit most of our quilt shops. Hope to find a treasure or two.

BECCA - I'm getting very excited for your DD's new house and the new baby. You'd think it was my own family!! May is big in our family, too. My parents' anniversary (married in 1934) was the 28th and they had 5 grandsons born May 23, 24, 24, 27, (my son) and 28th. Everyone was vying for the best gift, I guess. Of course, I won!! (and I won again when Autumn was born on Daddy's birthday - Jan 10!)

JANA - so cute about Ethan's hands being dirty! I think I'd like to be there for french toast at your house!!

IRISH - wow! $1.98 already?! Nice to know we have a cushion if things get too wild! lol!! We all love reading, too. My mom instilled it in us, I guess. After she gave up nursing she became our high school librarian. I loved library club! When Aut started first grade, she couldn't read more than a few words, but at the end of the year, she was about 4th grade level. All those books she read? 316 - she read them aloud to anyone to would sit still long enough. And the dog counted as someone! I firmly believe reading is the key to success in life. How great to have the shower in August to look forward to!

CHICKIE, CHICKIE, Chickie - what are we going to do with you?? now you are eating baskets of CAT FOOD for your supper! Tsk, tsk, tsk. But your memories of San Fran were great. My take-away was you roller skated UPHILL?? in SAN FRANCISCO?? I could never stay upright on skates. So even that impresses me. But uphill?? Tacoma has some hills that can rival S.F. And my mom said she roller skated down them as a kid. Also going to the library. There are some adventures I think I'm glad I missed!

For supper tonite we are going to a Mexican restaurant. Probably fairly early. It's going to be 85' today so we're hoping for a patio table. Unless its' just TOO hot. It's our last night with the girls. Everyone leaves tomorrow. They have been such fun guests! Wish they could stay longer, but I know Mary is anxious to get to those grandkids up in Anchorage.

I hope you all, one day, get a chance to meet them! Such fun gals!!

happy suppertime!

Good late morning from semi warm, semi sunny but pleasant, SW. Pa....One minute it looks like rain and the next the sun is shining but that's OK, as long as we don't have snow.....

Mary,Sounds like you're really having a good time with your visitors.....Lots of good memories.... Isn't it amazing what you can find in a small town...We are within a couple of miles from our nearest "small town" and we rarely stop or drive through but last week when I met the gals for lunch, that's where we went and it was great...We have decided, when it gets warmer, we're going to do a day of walking from one end to the other and seeing all the shops with lunch in the middle...But, I did see a window with a sign, "Quilt classes" so you know, I need to check that out....

And once again, this has to be a quickie....I'm headed out to meet up with my sister and gals we went to school with...And then of course my sister has some sewing for me...Guess she thinks I have nothing to do.....But, it will be a fun day, lots of gab and of course good food....

As for dinner, we'll just have to wait and see...You know what happens when I go to lunch but I'll make sure Jim gets fed.....

You all have a great day....

Happy eating..............

Good morning!

Everything went perfectly yesterday. The french toast cassaroles were loved by all. They are so easy. Just assemble the night before and pop in the oven in the morning. I can see some add on's in the future with the recipes.

Ethan is here - watching You Tube videos of Simon's Cat - if you have never seen them, look them up, they are hilarious! The little cat's meow sounds so realistic, that my Perry gets upset when he hears it.

Dinner tonight - I am not in the mood to cook! DH will either cook or take me out. The day is beautiful, so eating out watching trains will be nice.

I can add my 2 cents to the bail money - we may have enough now!

Enjoy,
Jana

Hello to everyone. We have had sun but it looks stormy now.We had lots of rain lightening & thunder last nite.

Mary z I know you are all having a great time tog.If your little town is the one that Debbie Mcomber writes about in her books it is a neat place. Most of us do live in neat places but don't take advantage of them.
Oh We are getting anxious about the baby & the house. She is looking at 2 more today.I keep praying they find the perfect one. With a garden as she loves flowers like her mom & Grandmother.

Jana I know it was a wonderful day with all the family & your littles ones dedication.
I googled your casserole & it sounds great.Would be good for such an occasion.

Irish You sure know how to do the town.Nice to have girl friends you grew up with.I have lost several of mine already.

Chickie Love hearing about your adventures.your pond fruit made me hungry as my Dad used to catch a lot when I was young. He would fry them for us.Mom never fried the f--h,Dad did.

We had to go to town for his check up,POffice ,med,& made a run into Big Lots & we come out loaded down.My Cousin mailed me the History of my family.Goes back to 1600s.She really did a lot of research. One of my other cousins had done it before but he passed away & I never got it down.He was killed on a riding mower that turned over on him.Am anxious to read it & see pictures.

We are at the Boiler Room.We came home stuffed & have our meal for tomorrow too.And DH got coconut cake for his evening snack...Becca

Good evening!

Mary—that “cat food” was awesome last evening!!! Sorry! Yes, I rollerskated UP the hills. It beat carrying my skates and my books. I didn’t have a cool tote—just under my arms. I have had the thunder thighs for all my life as proof of those workouts! (Have you ever noticed Olympic skaters’ thighs?)

We only made it to the upper 50s today… couldn’t squeeze out a 60! I’ll be complaining of the heat later this week. We’ll be almost 30 degrees warmer by Friday!

Know you are having a blast! How you will feel tomorrow is how I feel when you pull out of our driveway!

Becca—too funny that your mom wouldn’t do the deed with the pond fruit! She must have been Mary’s relation!!! DH and his sister have traced their family almost that far—so fascinating, and they definitely have some stories!!! I can’t get past my dad’s parents, but I did find out that his sister was a half sister, not a full sister.

Dinner tonight will be re-runs of the “cat food” or stuffed peppers. I’ll do short-order plates and make salads.

Enjoy!
