SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, May 1st

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun May 01, 2016 3:45 am

Can you believe it?? May!!! of 2016!!!!! It often seems like we jumped from 1968 into the future. Where did it all go?

CHICKIE - Oh, don't hawk a Hooligan! You probably wouldn't get enough! kidding! Your hooligans are worth more than gold! Funny about Doyal and how he likes his fruit. Wine is fruit, you know . . just saying . . .

JANA - my LDH#2, Roy, was a contractor. A good one, I'm happy to say. but he told me that in the county he worked in - not this county - you could get anything by an inspector if you had 1/2 gallon of whiskey . . . Sad. Especially when it can have such dire consequences! Personally, I think your builder should fix this problem on his dime, and some extra quarters tossed in to compensate you for the inconvenience of having a beam in the middle of your railroad!

BECCA - you said in the sew-in that a house your DD had her eye on sold already. I sure hope the next one she looks at works out. I suspect she is very busy packing right now. I loved reading to my kids when they were little. We'd go to the library and get stacks of books every week. Autumn was in first grade, learning to read, and we would snuggle in my bed under the covers and read to each other. she read 316 books by end of first grade and got prizes at end of school assembly from her teacher - a set of Little House Books. and now she's a librarian in charge of her own library! Reading is the BEST!

IRISH - yes, your Kathy seems to have found her happy! and that makes even me happy, so as her mom, I can only imagine about your feelings. Any chance they will be making a side trip to PA on their vacation? My mom used to make my dad custards and puddings using cream to get extra calories into him. The problem was, most of those calories went into her instead! And she didn't need them! It is really hard to eat, when you just don't feel like it.

TINA - I'm glad you are feeling a little better. and happy that Frankie is helping out. Between you and your parents and Holly, he's a busy guy these days! What a trooper! Hope you are feeling better by next weekend when you are to go to your parents.

I have the girls here and we had a busy, talkative evening last night. Sue brought a pasta salad and it really was tasty and went well with our burgers. I think we'll be having it again tonite with her pork chops. I'll make a salad and maybe some green beans since we were talking about them last night. And there's always cottage cheese to round out a meal and we have the makings for hot fudge sundaes and banana splits for afters.

Wish you all were here with us! We'd make a wild party! But the neighbors wouldn't call the cops on us - they'd just want to join in! lol!

have a happy day!

Good morning,

Oh what fun in the PNW! Sounds like there will be lots more too!

Dinner here - still have chicken, didn't make it to be cooked yesterday.

This morning is brunch at Matt's house. Both sides of the family will be there - about 30 or so. I make french toast cassaroles - one with cream cheese dollops and the other with apple pie filling. Both have a crumb top.

Well time to go,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from sometimes sunny other times dreary, Sw. Pa...I think Mother Nature is really mixed up today, don't think she knows it's MAY 1st and supposed to be warm and sunny.....

Mary, I can only imagine the fun you all are having and hopefully, we will see pictures....Checked the bail money fund and it's up to $1.98 so feel free to kick up your heels......
Some day, I hope you get to meet my Kathy and then you'll see what I mean...She won't be stopping in Pa on this trip...Her DH, Tim, won this cruise and then they decided to spend a week at Disney, with the kids...BUT, in Aug. for Cari's shower, Kathy is going to fly in for the weekend and surprise her, so I'll get to have her here for a day or so....
And speaking of reading, Kathy read to her kids before they were born and I swear, Jackie, the oldest was born talking..And she's the one that "made" us play school and is now teaches and loves every minute of it....We are a "reading" family.....

Becca, sounds like Denise is really on the ball...Will be sending prayers for her to find a home for that new sofa and hopefully, before the baby arrives....And May looks like a huge birthday month for you, wow.....

Jana, this is a big day in your family, isn't it? I'll be that little one looks so cute in his new outfit....

As far as dinner, my chicken never made it to the stove so maybe tonight I'll give it a try....Instead of chicken ala king, I might bake it along with potatoes (Jim's favorite)....And I'm baking some cookies so hopefully, we'll get Jim's taste buds hopping...

Happy eating...............

Good afternoon!

Becca and Irish—I have loved reading since I was a kid. I always had books and loved the library. I used to roller skate down the hill 6 blocks to the SF Mission Street Branch and get my six books and roller skate back UP the hill with my prizes. Often I would finish my books and go back for more the same day. When we were in summer reading contests, I got so far behind they wouldn’t count my second six books of the day. Honestly I read them cover to cover! I lived baseball, mountain climbing, spying and visited all my “friends” in my books. I especially liked biographies and series—the series because I visited my friends often and got to know them. I wish it had rubbed off on my DD and my DGKs (not because I didn’t TRY HARD!)… Too many electronic games to attract them now…

Can you imagine—I was in second and third grade and going six blocks from home down to Mission Street in San Francisco BY MYSELF!!! (Actually, I went other places with my pal Jack that were even farther away from home. When I showed Mom my haunts on our 1985 trip, I was even amazed!) I was 10 when we moved to Kansas. Times sure have changed!!! That was in the early 50s. The library in Parsons after we moved was 13 blocks and I walked or rode my bike all the time there.

Becca--Our birthdays were last month!

Jana—your French toast casseroles… divine! YUM!!! Have a wonderful day—such a happy occasion!

MaryZ—my DD loved working in the college library, and I wish they could have had a library science program for her. She’s not happy with biology. She likes the order of the system and filing. I would just like reading and reviewing!

Have fun, fun, fun!!! We all wish we were there!!!

Yes, the Hooligans aren’t worth two cents, but I wouldn’t take a million dollars for them!

Dinner tonight… dare I say… but it isn’t MY fault… two of the DGSs were dropping lines in our pond earlier and left a basket of crappie. Again, not MY fault, but it won’t go to waste!!! I’ll add some potatoes, broccoli or asparagus and salad. DH has cake for afters.
