SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, April 23rd
Good Morning!
We are in day 2 of our 3 days of drizzly weather. That's OK. We've had such nice weather this month that I'm ready for a bit of wet. and there's plenty to do inside!
JANA - Happy 17-1/12th birthday to your Perry! My Foxy was also born on March 23rd - as was I!! As for emptying our RV, when it's only a 4-day trip, you don't take much stuff. And all the dishes, pans, canned goods, etc stay in for the next trip. As for the tar on Michael's hands, you might try W-D40. Bill used it to clean all the stubborn ick from the outside of our RV. He buys the stuff by the gallon!
CHICKIE - hope you dry out soon! Do you know Houston gets more annual rainfall than Seattle. They just get it all at once! Yes, I get lucky with fabric sometimes. I found 9 pieces of cotton in thrift shops the last few days - one was a fatback! some were 3-yd pieces. I also found 4 large pieces of wool just in case I ever get into wool applique. It all averaged about $1.30/yard. Your veggie soup sounds delish to me. That and pasties are my favorite ways to use up leftover roast beast.
IRISH - thanks for the lesson in fledging. I thought it meant learning to fly, but didn't know if they came back or not. Sounds like the younger one got all the brains in the family! I remember my parents going every week to play cards with "Gramma and Grandpa". (not my real grandparents, but old enough so they were given the honors since I never had any granparents). They played whist in earlier years and then pinochle. Hope Nick enjoyed his prom! What are his plans for the summer? Bill needed a tux several years ago. We ducked into the Goodwill just on the off chance there was one there. and there was! and his size! for $15! And a gentleman's shop was going out of business here in town (it's now the LQS!! ) and he got shoes, cumberbund, and those funny buttons to go with for about 75% off. And he's never worn any of it ever since!
BECCA - I suspect the increased dyspnea your DH is having is a result of going to town and thus exposing himself to the smoke. I'm so happy you finally got some rain! Did it douse the fire? and another girl! And another R.A. doll! LOL! Such fun in your family!
Our Tina has been getting bad news right and left regarding her parents' health(s). She really has her hands full right now with worry and with trying to help them. She can use all the spare prayers you can share.
Today's chore list includes finishing spring cleaning the trailer (windows, polishing cabinets, bedding, curtains, carpets, floors, etc), washing house windows, a pile of ironing, and wrapping and packing up my sister's birthday package. I also hope to get in a little bit of sewing. another full day here!
supper will probably be spaghetti with the leftover meatloaf going into the sauce. and some roasted asparagus bits on the side. DH will be smiling!
Hope your supper makes you smile tonite. and never forget - there is no rule that says supper can't be cake!!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, April 23rd
Good late morning from warm, but semi sunny and not sure if it's going to rain, Sw. Pa...But, it's OK, I do have lots of inside stuff today and those sheets can wait until a sunny day for line drying....
Mary, just reading about your day makes me tired and I haven't done a thing yet...Can't seem to get my "with it" moving....Nick's prom isn't until the 13th and I am so glad he's decided to get a new suit...But, he'll also need a new shirt and tie to match her gown..I figured, since I can't be there I could at least help but I made sure, he understood, the check wasn't for his birthday, which is next week.....Grams gotta do what grams gotta do....When Terry was at WVU studying (and preforming) music, he needed a tux and went to our local tux rental and was able to get a couple of used ones for hardly anything...
So sorry to hear Tina is having more problems...She sure has had her share and will certainly keep her in my special prayers...I honestly don't know how she does all she does.....
Becca, glad to hear your smoke is clearing out...I can understand how your DH would feel, just someone in the neighborhood using a fire pit, throws me for a loop....And another baby, that's great...When I think of you, I naturally think of lots and lots of love.....
I was "rudely" awakened this morning by the insurance company calling to tell me my RX had been approved...I'm happy about it but not when I'm half sleeping, lol...So, I'm blaming my laziness on the insurance company...But, I do need to get a few uglies done and maybe, I'll run and do a few errands...But, that means changing into semi decent looking clothes and putting on shoes but we'll see....
You would all have laughed at Jim yesterday...I visited with a great friend, gabbing and having coffee and cake....Well, she sent the rest of the cake home and Jim was ready with plate and fork..His dinner was very, very light and then 2 pieces of cake...It was a HoHo cake and sooooo good..
AND Mary, guess what he had for breakfast......
And now onto dinner, which might be hit or miss...If I go out, it will be something the car decides, if I stay home, it will be whatever falls from the freezer.....Or it might be the last of the cake!
Happy eating............

we went out for breakfast.....so no menu today.....but Jammy Doughnuts were awaiting us at tea time.......

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, April 23rd
Good afternoon! I sat with mom today while she had a little individual quiche for her lunch. Then I went to the rental where DH was working and checked with him… I went to Braum’s and picked up a burger and fries for him and a grilled chicken Waldorf salad for me. We had a picnic in the back yard so he didn’t have to lock up all his tools and equipment.
Must tell you… usually if I take a dog to town with me, it’s Odie. He was locked in the house this morning, but DH had let Boomer outside. He jumped in my truck as I was loading my grocery sacks and baby quilts for show and tell with Mom. He jumped out, but back in before I could get in. That time he hid in the little area behind my truck seats (I have jump seats back there), and he was not about to get out! So, Boomer went to town and waited while I went to the store and had coffee with my friend. He was great at Mom’s and showed her he would sit and shake hands for a small nibble (in this case pieces of a cracker). He’s such a cutie! Mom even warmed to him immediately. Really, how could she not—that tail of his wags constantly as he expectantly looks for smiles of approval.
We are having beautiful weather now, but since it’s Kansas… all things change. Tomorrow evening and Monday are to be stormy… maybe.
That’s something about the Houston weather! Who knew more rainfall than Seattle!!!
Lady Carol—jammy doughnuts sound perfect for dinner!!! I love that you have tea time! I took mom the Teatime magazine today. I can’t remember the name of it, but she really enjoys reading it, and there are always great recipes in it. I could use a large dose of “Neatnik”! Wine makes everything look better!
Becca—Sounds like your dinner is growing! My DH loves all sweets, too. He MUST have dessert. I’ve not been used to that and have had to get used to having desserts on hand.
Irish—too funny about the cake!!! That would be my DH!!! I haven’t had HoHo cake… just Twinkie cake. My DD makes it.
Dinner tonight will be a stir fry –probably fajitas even though we are to have enchiladas tomorrow. Guess I could make Chinese… Just call it Stir Fry this evening… some kind or other…
Enjoy!

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Tonight's dinner will be salad, Parmesan Chicken, Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli. I am preparing it now so I can go to the gym, then cook it when I return.
maryz - You might try Murphy's Oil Soap for the tar on the vehicles. One time I went camping in Yosemite and they just tarred the roads. My beige car was fairly new and it was covered halfway up the door panels in tar. Someone told me to use Murphy's Oil Soap and it was a breeze to remove the tar without damaging the paint.
Irish - So glad your prescription was approved. Not nice for a phone call to awaken you though!
Becca - Glad to hear the smoke has cleared. You must be high on anticipation of hugging little ones!
Lady Carol - I too have several projects going, but truthfully they are just laying. The sewing machine has been unused for quite a while. I am working on some hand applique though.
Chickie - Guess Boomer decided it was his turn! lol Cute story!
Prayers for Tina and her parents.
Have a great day everyone!
Carol
