SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 22nd
Good morning!
We are home. Had a nice visit with my middle brother, Albert, on the way home. He lives at the halfway point. We arrived here at 3;30pm and had the entire fifth-wheel emptied, everything put away, and one load of wash going. Got several more loads to do today - found so much fabric in thrift shops over there! Plus a week's worth of clothes.
IRISH - the prom! Oh, I hope he has a good time! Is he taking a date or is he going stag? (is that still a 'thing'?) I know nowadays lots of kids just go in a group, rather than it being a special date. Kinda nice change, actually, so everyone can go, not just the ones who get asked. So, when the young eaglet 'fledged', does that mean he just learned to fly, or does that mean he flew away - forever? I bet they were surprised when half the nest fell! Glad "Baby B" survived it! Have fun at the card party tonite. Again. ;o)
JANA - we used to give our DGS, Drew, tractor rides a lot (he's 22 now). Bill restored my dad's 1948 Farmall Super A and we took it to several shows and there was usually a tractor parade. Drew was 18 months and got to ride in the parade with his dad driving. "Pop" rode on the back. Once, when our younger DGS, Alec, was riding on Pop's lap here on the property, he fell asleep, so Pop just kept slowly driving the tractor around all over so as not to wake Alec.
CAROL - I have to say, for as complicated as my claim for SS was, it all went very smoothly and I was in and out of the office in 30 minutes. They were efficient, friendly, and extremely helpful. I think the one thing that facilitated my application was that I went to a small town office north of us instead of the big Tacoma office.
LADY CAROL - sounds like you have a new neighborhood hang-out! Just when you get three quilts going at once and need to be home sewing! But a gal's got to have a little play-time, right!
BECCA - I hope they get the fire out quickly! Fires are devastating in our state. Last year over a million acres was burned, many homes, and livestock, too. I hate fires!
As for supper - it's going to be a busy day here and I won't want to be cooking. I have a meatloaf in the freezer so I think it's time to pull that out and toss it into the oven with some baked potatoes and a veggie yet to be named. We have some winter veggies that I think I'll roast with some olive oil and seasonings. Easy Peasy! Oh, peas sound good, too . . . .
What's sounding good at your house?

Mary--I can't believe you find so much fabric in thrift shops. There is never any around here.
Irish--Our oldest DGS went to prom with a girl on a first date for each of them. They went together for several years, got married, and now live at the other end of the farm... Ava's parents (my great grand dog). Keep us posted... On the other hand, the other grands have gone to prom with the date-of-the-week...
Dinner here will be more of the veggie soup I made last night using some of the shredded beef from the roast a couple of nights before. If DH doesn't want soup, he can have the rest of the shredded beef with BBQ sauce and make a sandwich while I feast on soup! It will be busy here, as I'm cleaning house and all the floors today. Just hope they stay clean tomorrow as we are having guests on Sunday.
I'm not accusing, but most of the mud is in clumps from boots and under DH's chair and wherever he walks... There are also little muddy prints. I feel dumb taking my boots off whenever I come in the house, but it does save a little mess. The Hooligans and I walk down to Ava's daily, and the last several days have had me singing "I feel the earth move under my feet..." as the mud from the dirt road shift and I struggle to stay vertical. It's beginning to dry out, so that's good. I can't imagine having as much rain as Texas. We only had an accumulation of 2" over several days... sure played havoc for several days with our road!
Enjoy!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 22nd
Good morning from warm but semi dreary and calling for a little rain, SW. Pa...But, I guess we do need rain...And just as I wrote that, the sun came out, lol.......
Mary, glad to have you back home and sounds like the trip was another good one....Yes, my little Nicky is going to the Prom and is taking a date...She's also on the robotic's team and from pictures I've seen, she's quite a cutie...And he has decided, instead of renting a tux, he's going to get a new suit...I have a feeling, the pants of his old suit come 1/2 way up his legs, lol....And it was a good time at the card party last night and we get to do it again next week...This is a very good money maker for organizations....But, looking around at gals that were there, all were silver haired and what's going to happen to "card parties" when this generation is gone...The gals I was with were 87, 2 were 85 and me 78..Makes me feel young, hanging out with older gals, lol....
lady Carol, you really are getting carried away aren't you? But, you know, a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do...
Carol, I don't remember going anything for my SS, in fact, I think I made a phone call and that was it....I don't understand all the hoopla....The grands thought it was amazing that Gram didn't work but every month, she had a check in the mail....
Today is another run around day...Need to pick up an RX and get my shingles shot and then going to visit a gal who is very interested in making or having me make a quilt..She even went to JoAnn's and took pictures of the fabric and wants my opinion, along with showing me her house AND having coffee and cake...Sounds like a great afternoon....
As for dinner, I haven't a clue...Mary's meat loaf sounds really good but I can't find any in my freezer...And if I'm having goodie this afternoon, I'm not going to want to cook, so it might be something really light....Jim would be satisfied with a grilled cheese and me a salad, so we'll see.....
Happy eating...............
And, fledging does mean, starting to fly...1st the "branch", hop from one limb to another and then get those wings going and off they go...They still use the nest for their meals and to sleep...After they fledge, the parents teach them how to find food and after a month or so, they fly away...It's sad to see them go and not know if they survive or not...About 50% of the young "juvies" don't survive the 1st year...The other eagle in the nest has yet to fledge but I have a feeling, he/she is afraid to leave the nest for fear of missing a meal...We'll have to wait and see if the parents try to fix this nest, rebuild or move to a new tree...

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 22nd
Good afternoon!
Look out Mary, I may be flying by in my house! It is windy here, blowing from the south. The dust and sand from the desert is kicking up.
Dinner - I really don't know what wecare in the mood for, so will just see later.
I have been working in the LA part of the Batt Csve. Rearranging my cabinets in that space to get them in use. It is nice to have more cabinet space than I have stuff to go in them right now. But that won't last long! LOL
Becca - so special for your grands to have a hand made dollie. I have a pattern to make dolls for my girls - Emma wil get one this year. It is more of one to set on a shelf, rather than play with. Tradition here is a quilt for theirbig kid bed. So far I am caught up.
Mary -you must have emptying the RV down to a science, to be so quick!
Chickie - sorry, but my rain will heading north and missing you this time around. I have many little and big feet that track in here, just counting feet, there is 28, I think! LOL My cat is a inside critter, so he is not guilty!
Well, I need to figure out how to get tar off of DH - he waterproofed the inside of my brick planter - being the smart engineer, he didn't wear gloves! Sheesh!
Enjoy,
Jana
