SUPPER CLUB - Saturday, April 16th

Good morning!
I have singing birds and a barking dog. Sounds like 'daylight in the swamp', as my Daddy used to say.
I saw my brother yesterday and he's starting to look better. He said for the first time since his Feb 1st surgery he felt a tiny little hunger pang. And he's gained back one pound of the the twenty he lost. He slept through most of their visit but that's probably because we started talking sewing machines. lol!
IRISH - I'm still laughing about your card party that wasn't - and then was! Too funny!! Out of all the card parties you've ever gone to, that one will be the one you remember! haha!! I didn't realize your Kathy had MOH surgery. Skin ca, right? Praying all goes well for her!
BECCA - I bet your family was tired last night when they got home. From the airport to Hoodsport is about a 2-hour drive if traffic is good, though the second half of it is on pretty country roads. And Frick and Frack were at your house? Again?? Seriously, though, glad your hubby wasn't hurt! But it must have been scary for you both. When you said two cedars fell, my heart stopped. I was afraid your house was squashed! We are surrounded by giant western red cedars and it takes at least two people to stretch arms around their trunks. And I was picturng you dragging them off to your slash pile!! What a woman!
CHICKIE - how was the birthday party! and ham and beans cooked in the cast iron over the fire is my kind of eatin'!! Add the cornbread (make mine jalapeno, please) and I'd be in culinary heaven! I KNOW that party was a rockin' good time! I've been in your party barn and party'd with all your people. Such a fun group!! I bet your cake was the hit of the night!
TINA - I know your day went to heck in a hand-basket yesterday with your mom in the ER. I hope all is OK now. Doesn't your dad have his bone scan this coming Monday?
JANA - got snow, Hunny?
Today I will be baking again. I know! Odd for me, right? But we "need" cake (white with choc frosting) and cookies (choc chip) for camping. Then I'll pack the last of the perishable food and we'll be off tomorrow morning for four nights.
We made a quick run to Costco yesterday and found they had pre-seasoned chicken breasts again. Garlic sesame this time. I think we'll grill that tonite. There will also be salad and either green beans or au gratin potatoes.
I won't be here until next Friday but here's the menu for the week: BBQ'd burgers with capresi pasta salad and chips; tacos, rice, & beans; and our friends are doing ribs one night and chicken one night. We will be rolling ourselves home Thursday afternoon after all that!
Stay cool! Stay fed! See you on Friday!
