Good Morning!
The birds are waking up here and what a cacophony of chirping! Love it! And speaking of birds, a pair of little finches have taken up residence in a little birdhouse my mom made in our ceramics class when I was jut 18 years old. I have it hanging outside my kitchen garden window. I wish my mom could see this!
BECCA - what a fun day for you all! the little ones sound so cute. And as you know, we are always up for leftovers in this house!
IRISH - No, our place isn't in shape yet. Lots of sections of the yard I haven't even started on yet. But some years I never get it done and so far the world hasn't ended. How did the robotics competition go yesterday? Nice to hear you're not ready for cataract surgery. I have a little one, too, but doc says I'm years away. But my DD had to have cataract surgery a year ago!
LADY CAROL - Oh no! Sir's not sick again! I hope he's up again soon. And I'd like to think you are in good company, having to relearn quilty techniques when you've not used them for a bit. I have to do that all the time. Thank goodness I have El's books where she so patiently re-teaches me.
JANA - I know you've loved having your BIL and would probably like to have him stay a bit longer. But having recently had 3 of my siblings staying here for two weeks, a long nap the day after they left was just the thing!!
DEB - thanks for dropping in here at Supper Club. We always love a new face at the table. Congratulations on your weight loss! And good luck with your upcoming surgery. So sorry your family is stressing you out. Sounds like it's time for some tough love talks.
Yesterday I bought all the flowers for my outdoor pots so this afternoon I'll be wrist deep in potting soil. But first, my brother says he is up for breakfast so we will be meeting them at 0745. Also, it was Costco day yesterday, so today I have 6 pounds of hamburger to deal with - make a meatloaf, some meatballs, some burgers, and some small packages, all to freeze. Also, I bought a bag of onions and I chop most of them for freezing, too. So handy to have on hand! So that's my to-do list for today. I'd like to go to Joann's, too, but that's a 30-mile round trip plus a $5 toll. So I may wait until we have more errands to run in Tacoma.
As for supper - last night was BBQ'd burgers. So those pork chops, which I thawed overnight in the fridge, will go into the crockpot this morning.
It's Sunday! Do you tend to make the old-fashioned traditional Sunday dinner or are you more inclined towards PB&J's for Sunday supper?

Good afternoon! I’m fine… just crazy busy the last few days. My shoulder was still stiff and slightly sore yesterday, but I’m back to normal today. Only one ugly bruise on my arm.
Irish—In the last few years, my padding has exploded on me. I’m not sure what happened, but all sizes are up, up, up and I have lots of padding to spare. The more I walk and exercise, the chubbier I get. It’s no longer chubby… it’s FAT! Now when I fall, I bounce and roll.
Deb—I agree… lock up your jewelry box and make a will. I’ve never heard of a $500+ Promise ring! Time for some very tough love on getting jobs and paying their own ways. My niece had reduction surgery. I think she was disappointed in “only” a C.
Becca—I love potato cakes. My grandma used to make them from mashed potatoes. Sounds like a wonderful day at your home!
Mary—so neat to have your mom’s bird house occupied! DH made Mom a wren house to hang on her porch outside her window, and each year a pair of singing wrens has taken up residence. She can’t hear them now, but she enjoys watching them. I’ve been seeing flashes of blue near the bluebird houses we have around the farm. I bought tomato plants yesterday, but we can still have freezing weather tomorrow night, so they are in the sun room now.
I chop onions and celery for dropping into soups, sauces and chili, etc. Always handy! If I get a bonanza of bell peppers, they are also chopped or cut in strips with onions in strips for fajitas. I used to buy family packs of burger and do the same thing as you do.
Dinner… I’ve tried to thaw pond “fruit” in the fridge for the last few days, and it was still solid last evening, so that’s what’s on the menu tonight. I’ll fix Brussels sprouts for me. We’ll also have salads and some vanilla pound cake for dessert. I need to go check for asparagus in the garden, and if I can find some mushrooms… I found two yesterday. I also have some baby portabellas I can fix with the morels. Still, nothing like morels. Wish this would have been a good year instead of a poor year for them.
Enjoy!

Good morning,
We have been trying to get BIL to move here, but his two children are in California near him. So he won't leave them. They are dependent on him for much, since the divorce. The kids are the same age as mine, but need alot.
Dinner - I have the roasts in the crockpot for dinner. Will add rice, gravy and a veggie. I have strawberries for dessert.
Time to get ready - We had a power outage and so did Sarah, mine is back, hers, not, so I have Ethan to dress as well.
Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from slightly overcast, but cold, SW. Pa...Yep, still winter here in the "burgh" but it has to get warm one of these days.....
Mary, you're really going to have a busy day, chopping and freezing aren't you? We all must do the same thing, if you get a bargain, you take advantage of it...The only bad thing is forgetting to mark the freezer packages correctly and then the fun begins, lol....And how neat to have your Mom's bird house and actually have a family residing in it...Don't worry, your Mom is watching it....
Becca, We also have flower loving deer here, especially my hosta and lilies...I've tired spraying the "deer be gone" but that doesn't last very long..But, I guess the deer have to eat too (but wish they'd visit the neighbors).....I used to make those big Sunday dinners but that's long gone...But, I do love when the kids come home and I can cook for them....And we too, love those mashed potatoes pancakes....
Deb, so glad to see you at the table...My heavens, you've really had some bad things happening...But, as the others have said, time for some tough love and a key or 2...And prayers for good results with the upcoming surgery.....
Chickie, At least you can bounce and roll, I just drop...And I like to use the word "fluffy" instead of chubby...AND boy am I getting fluffy...I was so thrilled when I lost about 15 pounds but I had to be sick to do it, not a good thing...But, we are what we are and I guess I'll stay fluffy.....Good luck in your search for dinner....
Lady Carol, you really do lead an exciting life and a "wearer" of many hats....I sure hope Sir appreciates your nursing skills and hopefully stays healthy for a long time to come....
We went to Mass and then onto breakfast and once again, it was great...Now, I'm back home in time to see the quarter finals with the robots...Nick's team will probably start it off, so you know I'll be glued to the computer...I just wish I could see them in person...So exciting....
As far as our dinner, I'm thinking something chicken...We haven't had chicken ala king in awhile and on a cold day, that might taste good.....The other day when I was running around, I stopped at a Budget bakery and this place is great...Freshest goodies I've ever seen....So, you know who is in "sugar heaven"....Do any of you remember or have had a "Snowball"? Mound of chocolate cake with a cream filling and then covered with frosting and coconut....I love, love these and came home with a box of them....Talk about getting "fluffy"!
Happy eating...........
Have a kind of funny....We were just leaving breakfast and a car pulled into the parking lot in front of us...The gal came around to my window and said, "Do you know your inspection is over due?" She said, her husband, who was sitting in the car, told her to let us know and hopefully avoid a fine....I guess I'd better start looking at things like that, lol...So, bright and early tomorrow, we need to get the car to the garage....But, I thought it was very nice of that young couple to let us "old" folks know.....

Hi Everyone!
Unless plans change we will be having salad, meatloaf, mashed potaoes and green peas.
Maryz - Your yard sounds lovely, even if you never feel like it is finished.
Irish - Glad you can watch the robots, even if your not there in person.
Becca - Thanks for the well wishes. There are 8 weeks left of school (and retirement). Actually there are 9 weeks left, but since there will not be any work the last week of school DH and I are going on a vacation.
Chickie - I freeze onions and green pepper, but have never tried celery. Sounds like something I will be trying! BTW I decided I needed to work on improving my balance. I have improved, but continue to work on it by improving my core strength. Other than more exercise I simply try to rise from a seated position using my legs alone and not my arms and hands. I also practice balancing while brushing teeth, or getting dressed. I worry about falling and hope by improving I will avoid damaging falls.
Jana - Sorry you lost power. Not fun when you are trying to get ready to go somewhere.
Carol
