SUPPER CLUB - Fri, April 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Fri Apr 08, 2016 2:50 am

Good morning!

Today is Lois's birthday over in the sew-in. And it's also my oldest brother's 55th wedding anniversary - in Alaska. And I believe my younger sister became a great-gramma yesterday. I need to check with her today.

I got lots of yard work done yesterday. I have to say though, I'm ready for a rainy day! But that won't be today. So I'll be back out there again. In my old days I'd get up early and be out by daylight and work until dusk. In my old days I WAS NUTS!! Now, I usually call a halt after 3 to 4 hours. After all, I need to leave a little time to sew something. And I did finish devising a pieced pattern for my Twelfth Man block for my Seahawk quilt - a white '12' on a blue field. And I made a prototype that turned our pretty good. Now to make three more. After that, I'm stopped until I make a trip to Joann's.

CHICKIE - What fun to run into the family at dinner! Those are the best meals! You and your gang of hooligans had some great walks yesterday! They are fun company, aren't they!

BECCA - your baskets for the kids sound like as much fun for you as for them! I remember what it was like when my LDH#2 (Roy) applied for disability. He hated doing it, was only 44, and looked the picture of health, but his heart was failing rapidly. It was a rough day for us both.

IRISH - so sorry that Jim has to go back to the doc. Give him a hug for me! And that is so funny about the eagles!

JANA - so nice of you to make doughnuts for your craving neighbor! When I was pregnant, I had to buy my own. Turns out two doughnuts a day for 9 months wasn't a good idea . . . ;o)

TINA - I hope you and everyone in your world is feeling better today!

CAROLS - good morning!

Now for supper. I'm stalling. Trying to think . . . I could make a bacon/cheddar quiche with salad. Pancakes would be good. Maybe chicken alfredo . . . I will give DH his choices and see what we come up with. He might have some other idea - like taking me out to a restaurant?? Though after a day in the yard, it's more trouble to get cleaned up than it is to cook something!

Hope you have an easier time with your choices!

Good morning from a chilly, wintery, SW. Pa...We woke up to a dusting of that white stuff with a promise of more to come...?What's wrong with this picture????The birds and the flowers are so confused and my body is not liking it one bit.....But, spring is coming, we hope....

Mary, You probably do more in those 3-4 hours than I do all week....Long gone are those days when I actually put in a full day...But, I kind of like my days now, the perks of being old....

Can't you just imagine the happiness happening at Becca's house..And what a neat idea about the baskets...Have a feeling their filled with lots and lots of love.....

About the only thing planned today is an eye appointment...Might even talk myself into new glasses but we'll see...Our doc is a Notre Dame grad and although Jim doesn't have an appointment, he wants to go along and talk ND with him....I just hope he knows I'm there for an exam, lol...AND if Jim tags along, there will be no dinner cooking in this kitchen....We all know the car and although we're going a different direction, I'm sure the car will sniff out a good place to pull in.....

Guess I'd better get the bed made and the dishes cleaned up....Still trying to decide on Cari's quilt.......

Happy eating..............

Good morning,

Well, BIL is eating at his brother's house across the valley, so I will be finishing up the leftovers for us.

Tomorrow the boys will be gone most of the day and I will have spaghetti ready for whatever time they get back. My day to hide and play in the Batt Cave.

Enjoy!

Good afternoon! The Hooligans and I returned from our walk down to see Ava and play with her for awhile. It’s always an adventure with things to see (owl, flowering cherry trees and wisteria), things to chase (rabbits, squirrels and figments of imagination) and ponds and slough in which to get really wet.

The wisteria is beautiful! After the fire, when I thought we might be building there, I planted some starts by the road on an arbor that had never been used. It is glorious this year!!! I have a small start in the yard here, and I’m now hoping in 5 years, I’ll have a pretty planting on an old bedframe. This is the 2nd year… no blooms and still a little sprout. I’m hoping it’s growing a healthy root system in the meantime.

After yesterday’s tumble (check Sew In), today’s walk wasn’t all afternoon. I’ll call it my monthly self exam for osteoporosis and see how my bad bones have progressed. I’m such a KLUTZ!!!

I really need some rain so I’ll stay inside and can accomplish some sewing and not be kissing Mother Earth so hard.

Jana—leftovers mean more time in the batt cave!

Irish—I’m amazed at your snow! We are in the 60s here and bounce to the 70s some days. This morning we were in low 30s! Quite a range!!! I seem to put in a full day, but get less accomplished. Everything takes longer to accomplish!

Yesterday afternoon we had a newbie join on the Chit Chat page… She’s a good fit for all of us!

Yesterday was national beer day. I should have made beer bread! We had farm forage… calf, morels, and asparagus as well as some additions to fill in the thin spots (morels and asparagus).

Tonight… I found more farm forage for dinner (pond delicacy), so that’s what’s thawing. I think maybe mac ‘n cheese with it, a salad, and maybe some beer bread… Sorry, Mary, but I really didn’t way it, and the evidence will definitely disappear quickly! You’ll never know… trust me!!!

Enjoy!!!
