New to group

Post by Lizzytish » Thu Apr 07, 2016 8:37 am

Hello Everyone I just joined this group. I have been quilting for about 7 years now and still have lots to learn and try. I have been sewing since I was a little girl. Far back as I can remember.
At the moment I am working on a grandmothers flower garden done by hand as I watch tv a coupe hours a night.
I also am in the process of some machine quilts.
I am a Grammy, mom, and wife and in that order too ha.
Well you all have a good day.

Lizzytish--delighted to have you join!!! Come over to the Sew In page and get acquainted with "the regulars" who post daily. You will enjoy the support and camaraderie here. I share your "order"... LOL!!! We are all ages and stages of quilting. I fall somewhere in the middle after sewing garments since I was a little girl as well. I've done hand piecing, machine piecing and quilting by hand and machine. I don't have a long arm machine. I live on a farm (cattle and hay) in the middle of no where with my DH of 10 years. (You never know who you might meet at a class reunion!) We have three mixed breed dogs that adopted us in the last several years. Seems like everyone thinks farmers want dogs and dump them out on country roads. We love our "hooligans" and they have fit right in.

Where are you located? We hail from all over the US, Canada and the United Kingdom at this time. One member is in Germany while her DH is deployed. It's a great group!

Hope you post again soon!

P.S. Feel free to pop in at the daily supper club here and let us know what's cookin' at your house!!! We'd love to see photos of your quilts on the photo pages, too. WELCOME!!!

Welcome - indeed join us over in the Sew in section. They are a great group of quilters.

I too am grandma, to 10, mom to 4 and wife of 41 years to one! I grew up playing under the quilts my mom and grandmother would hand quilt. I now have a longarm and quilt my own. I have been quilting since I was a little girl as well as sewing garments.

Glad you found us!

HI, Lizzytish!

Welcome to our forum! This is a great group of folks from all over the country and a few from England and Scotland. I, too, am a wife, mom, and grandmom. I learned to hand embroider and crochet when I was 6, and I was sewing garments by age 10. I got into quilting about 30 years ago and haven't looked back. I live about 1 mile from the house I was born in and 2 miles from the farm where I was raised. The house my dad was born in a century ago is 1 mile the other direction. You can see, I'm a home girl!

Stop by the daily sew-in and say 'hi'. Several of our 'regulars' post there every morning, coffee klatch style.

Welcome!

Welcome Lizzytish! It won't take you long to discover, this is the best place to be...The gals here have to be the nicest people in the world and what makes it unique is only a handful have ever met in person..But, in reading the posts, it's as if you've known each other forever....Always ready to help with advice, give a hand and offer a shoulder if needed...I, personally, don't know what I would have done when I lost my son, if it hadn't been for the girls on this forum....
I'm also a Mom of 5 (1 gone now), gram to 13 and great gram to 3 and wife of 62 years.....
Please come to the Supper Club and pull up a chair...Usually Maryz, sets the table and gets the coffee/tea going...We hear what everyone has cooking and hopefully get some ideas for our own dinner.....

And as Chickie said, we love, love pictures......

Hope to see you back, real soon......

Hello everyone. I joined yesterday and trying to find my way around. I am retired, live with husband and yellow lab. I have adult identical twin sons, one is married and has four children. My other son is in the Air Force.

I have been sewing for 57 years now and quilting for 14. I had years of sewing clothing, curtains, etc., but wanted to learn to quilt after I retired. I love quilting, especially patchwork.

We are in the process of getting ready to move to southeastern Ohio from central Ohio where I will finally be within just a few miles of those adorable grandchildren! Right now about everything that we don't use daily is already packed, so there are boxes everywhere and I'm pretty tired at bedtime. Wow, moving is hard work!

I look forward to getting to know the group.
