Good Morning!

Well, I didn't get any weeding done yesterday, but I did do a bit of sewing and a lot of reading. That was the extent of my day. We are skipping our usual Sunday breakfast out with Jim & Terry since they both have this cold, too.

IRISH - Sorry you risk getting thwacked at night. Our Jim (also a very gentle soul) does that same thing - always is fighting the bad guys who are chasing him. Terry was getting hit, so now they sleep in the same room but in a separate beds. His dreams are caused by the meds he takes for his Parkinsons.

BECCA - Did you get to see your DGS yesterday?? I bet he seemed taller, more muscular, stronger, and it felt so good to hug him! What a happy day!

JANA - what a nice supper - sitting watching the trains. Have you ever sat and watched them at the Tahachapi Loop in CA? And there is a place in B.C. where the loop is inside a hill and you can see the tail end of a long train still going into the mountain and the engine coming out at a higher altitude. Worth the drive up there . . .

The pasties were good last night. And that is PAST-ies, not PASTE-ies. Totally different things!!! A pastie is diced up meat, onion, potato, or anything you want to put into it. And you spoon it onto a round of dough (i just use pie dough), fold it over, seal it, brush with egg and bake it. It's a dish that originated in Cornwall, England, I believe where there is lots of mining. It's a complete handheld meal, keeps in a lunch bucket and is easy to eat. When people migrated here and up into the Upper Peninsula of Michigan where there is a lot of iron mining, they brought their lunches! And my DH is from Ironwood, MI, originally. It's a great use of leftovers.

But now for tonite - we just might have those grilled cheese sandwiches and add a bowl of tomato soup.

What sounds tasty to you tonite?

Mary, glad you're on the mend. Those pasties sound good, I'll have to share with three Kurds, they are always trying new recipes : )
We've been eating Lol we had burgers on the grill last night and a salad. I need to look in three freezer to see what we're having tonight. We've been getting below freezing every night brr! Frankie is out mowing the yards.....it's only 38 out there now, too cold for me! I'll try to make it back later.

Hello everyone.Sunny but nippy even though temps are rising.
Maryz Glad the cold is lessening.
Yes DGS got Home but not without delays. His truck broke down which I was afraid of because he was pulling a trailer .Think it was too much for his old vehicle. He was 3 hrs away so a friend went after him.Now he will have to pick his truck up this wk.
So he got in late.He is coming this afternoon.Said he is so happy to be home.
I saw the pasties on a show on TV & they said the miners used them for lunches & they looked tasty but have never tried them.Sure they are good.

Tina Hope you warm up.We had lots of wind all day yesterday that really chilled us down.

Irish Life here is different but we do our best. His personality changed a lot & his memory gets worse but with all the strokes he has had it is amazing he is as good as he is.Only by Gods amazing grace.Have to laugh to keep going.

He has been under the weather last few days so he still wants soup. For me a salad with grilled chicken on top. And the chocolate cake. Becca

Good afternoon! We have a beautiful day here—just WINDY! I’m doing laundry. We had lots of adventures that I described in the Sew In for today… never a dull moment!!!

Mary—your pasties sound delicious! Of course, hand pies are all the rage… what’s old is new with a new name. Feel better soon!

Becca and Irish—when my late DH was on medication and ill, his personality was so different. It also changed less than a year after we were married, just before his bi-polar diagnosis. I wondered who I had married. It was just one day at a time… HUGS to you both!!!

Tina—we were 30 yesterday morning! It was warmer this morning and going for almost 80!

I have a piece of steak that I think I’ll turn into fajitas for dinner with salad and all the salsa, etc.

Enjoy!

Good afternoon from a sunny but cold Sw. Pa...Would you believe, we woke up to an inch or so of that white stuff????What's going on????
But, as I said, the trees are in full bloom and at least we have sun...

We went to early Mass and then onto breakfast...The other Jim had a big surprise at Mass today...They were honoring 50 years of the Knights of Columbus and the other Jim being kind of the founder at our church, was presented with a plaque and a certificate..He was quite surprised...And along with that, his family had a 90th birthday party for him yesterday and all his remaining brothers and all his kids, grands and great grands were there...AND on top of that, this month he won the lottery ticket for the Knights, which was $1500....He sells these tickets every month and keeps saying he wishes he could sell the winning ticket...Well he did, to himself, lol....You would never guess he is 90, special guy!

Mary, hope all that reading and napping put an end to the cold...We can't have you sick, too much to do....Jim started his "thrashing" before he was put on meds but with the meds, it has gotten worse....I'm still working on the Velcro.....

Becca, Wow, what your DGS had to go through to get home! But, I'll bet he's one happy camper and those hugs are extra special....And I know what you mean about laughing...I've gotten, I can make a "funny" out of almost everything that happens.....

I'm really not sure what we might be eating tonight...I've looked in the freezer and nothing "jumped out at me" or said, "eat me", so maybe I'll just cancel dinner....Lots of soup on the shelf and lots of cereal in the cupboard....Or, the car is always ready, we all know that.....

Happy eating...............

Good afternoon!

Mary - I know those! Sarah's DH served his mission in Leeds England and ate them while he was there. Sarah is learning to make them like he had there. That and authentic banned and chips.

Dinner will finally be the chicken I defosted in the last millenia!

Yes, we have watched trains at the Techapapi loop. There was one closer to my home in Northern California, called the Williams loop up on the Western Pacific line, running through the Feather River canyon. We are now finding new places to watch trains here and drag the grands with us too.

Well, last session of conference is starting,
Enjoy,
Jana

Good Afternoon Everyone!
Maryz - Glad you are on the mend. Your pasties sound good.

Tina - 38* sounds cold to me! It is 66* here, clear and breezy. I have a turtleneck and sweater on. DH says my nose is cold!

Jana - Glad you enjoyed the conference this AM. Ethan needs a sandbox. Just the right age. Glad others can join him in the fun!

Becca - Glad DGS made it home safe and sound. Sorry to hear your DH is under the weather.

Irish - Glad you are enjoying the day. Happy 90th to your friend, Jim. Very special to be honored by the K of C. Very cool that he won the raffle too.

Chickie - I read your adventure with the cows getting out this morning. No, never a dull moment.

After Mass and breakfast I decided it would be good just to putter for a while this morning. Nothing seemed urgent today. I need to get to sewing, but after a few weeks of not working on a project I have to get back into it. Tomorrow morning I should be ready.

Tonight's dinner will be Parmesan Chicken, potatoes, vegetable and salad.

Have a Great Day Everyone!
Carol
