SUPPER CLUB - Happy Easter!! March 27th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Mar 27, 2016 4:07 am

Good Morning and happy Easter to you all!

I'm nearly ready - have my swiss steak in the crockpot. My key lime pie is thawing. I also decided to make a chocolate cake for some reason. I don't even care for chocolate cake. and I found Texas Pecan Pie Ice Cream in the freezer, so we're good for desserts. I'm going to roast asparagus, too, with sesame oil and toasted seeds. SIL is bringing fruit salad and our friend is bringing potatoes of some kind. For the rolls, I am borrowing Chickie's recipe from the good folks at Rhodes. Honest, they taste just like my mom's homemade and she won blue ribbons with her baking.

LADY CAROL - hello!! You really had an adventure, didn't you! Glad it all turned out Ok for you and all you got was a great campfire story. Hope Sir is feeling a bit better by now. I hope you find your cousin!

IRISH - when I was a pre-teen I read a book set on a pioneer farm in PA and they used the term 'redding up' and I've always remembered that term. Makes me think of buckets of soapy water and scrub brushes and calloused knees. Glad you are enjoying the boys' visit. sounds like a blessed time at your house. The luck you are having with your delivery folks, your UPS 'fellow' could end up being a woman, you know. . . . Ours often is.

CHICKIE - are you ready?? Tell your mom hi for me next time you see her! Today I am making my rolls by just nesting them next to each other in a 9x13 pan so they all have soft sides. That's how my brother likes them. But sometimes I thaw them, roll them into ropes and tie them in knots. Brush them with butter and sprinkle with poppy or sesame seeds. They are so good!

BECCA - I hope your DH is soon feeling better. Does he have a fever with those chills? There is a serious flu going around, I hear. My Autumn was down with it for a week. It went through her library and everyone was sick. I hope you got to skype in on the baby shower. That was yesterday, wasn't it?

TINA - I know you are busy, busy, busy at your house with all the family coming and the babies 'helping'. Happy Easter to you and your crew!

CAROL 7 - What is happening at your house today? steaks on the grill?

Well, I already shared our menu. There will be leftovers tomorrow, I'm sure. and swiss steak makes the best veggie soup the day after. So, other than a little tweaking, I'm set for a few more days to come! Wishing you all a blessed Easter!

Good morning,

DS4 begged for leg of lamb for dinner, but the family vetoed it, so dinner will be ham, Aunt Sarah salad, asparagus, green stuff (jello salad), rolls and homemade cheesecake for dessert. Crenda called me yesterday to double check on the recipe for the cheesecake. She has never made one before, so I was the recipe doublecheck. She is a good cook and follows the recipes exactly as they are written, but she never used a waterbath before.

Happy Easter!
Enjoy,
Jana

Lady Carol I have been wondering about you.Thought you must still be on trip. What a scare.Glad all was well. And you didn't have to hide the fabric.

Maryz Yes we facetimed for the shower. It was the church where DSIL is Pastor that gave it.Was very nice & lots of gifts. She loved the Raggedy Ann.I made her one when she was small & it was her fav.She said they had to bring one this week to birthing class so Raggedy is going. She loved all the other things I gave her.She being a teacher got lots of books for baby.

Jana Cheesecake is yummy.

Chickie Glad Mom is doing well.Enjoy your day with family.Never thought of making cinnamon rolls with Rhodes dough.Always mAke my own but will try it.

Carol 7 Hope your Easter is a good one.

Good Evening All......its a bit rough out there today.......
.....sorry....should have started off with a "Happy Easter All".....

yes the trip back home was quite eventful.....I did find a couple of quilt shops......both were on a trip to Canterbury(this was included with the holiday trip)and I went because I wanted to visit the Cathedral.....the last time I was there I was about 7.....however the town was heaving with visitors from all over and time didn't allow the long wait......so brought fabric instead.....cousin no.1 still had not appeared....so...met up with nos.2 and 3 had coffee and giggles again.....due to pack and set off for home the next day.....having evening meal.....and.....blooming tooth fell out.....as my last dental bill rendered me speechless(that says it all)I am getting aquainted with the new gap.....so....I didn't get to see the cousin to hand over her quilt.....but I did have 2 offers to buy it....but you know what......I really didn't want to part with it.....so it came back home with me....and now resides on the settee...
week 2....helped Sir with the garden.....back braking work.....but soil turned over....Onion Sets planted.....Potatoes planted in tubs....Tomato Plants seeded plus some bedding plants for the front....Greenhouse spring cleaned and ready to go....and trench dug and composted ready for the Runner Beans when they are ready to go in....
week 3.....helped a friend to de-clutter her attic.....I have a ton of knitting patterns to go through.....she had all her late mothers....nothing....but....nothing was thrown away.....she also found her mothers sewing box....actually like a smallish table....that came home with me too....as she had her own I could have it or it could go to the tip.....was she nuts....its beautiful...I have taken photos.....ready for when my techie brain gets into gear or the grankids help....

So.......I am now ready to settle down to a nice quiet and uneventual few days......until we set off sometime next week to see the Bristol family......our lovelys are coming down from up North for a few days.......

todays menu.....Turkey....Sage Apple and Onion Stuffing.....Roast Potatoes....Honeyed Parsnips....Carrot and Peas.....Strawberry Trifle for afters......

Lady Carol

The party's over, the guests have all gone except one... DH's sister. They are off together on the ATV. I stayed with Odie and Tinker Bell to chillax. We had lots of yummy food. I forgot to get SIL's casserole out of the oven after I had to warm it and put on the fried onion rings. She just leaves it in the kitchen and leaves to visit with the guys. I'm in trouble. Oh well, what else is new!!! I messed up my rolls... They over rose, then they wouldn't do a second rise... I think they got too warm or something. They were pretty dense. No one really complained, at least not to me. There was so much other good stuff!!!

Happy Easter!!!
