Good Morning!

I'm having my coffee, chatting with you all, and getting up my energy to clean this house. I did get some dusting done yesterday and 'picking up'. Today will be vacuuming and bathrooms. We also need to do some furniture rearranging in our downstairs family room (we have a split level house) so we can set up a table there for Easter dinner. My brother, Jim, will be here and he just can't do steps anymore. Our family room is level with the garage and he can just walk in and sit down.

IRISH - I'm bummed about your Schwann's man shifting his route on you! I always looked forward to your 'reports'. ;o) Your house is going to be busy this weekend! How old are the boys now? I have my own to keep track of and it seems they change ages all too often!

JANA - what are you making for Easter? Didn't you say you are going to your son's house? By the way, I forgot to say happy birthday to your niece last Wednesday! I hope she had a happy day!

CHICKIE - I certainly don't have a mini-me in my DGK's! lol! They are both boys, ages 22 and almost 19. But I'm glad you have your Tasha. It must be fun to teach a young one all you know about sewing and quilting.

TINA - I hear you woke up early, spent some time in your sewing room, and will be baking pies today. I cheated and bought a frozen pie - key lime - to thaw tomorrow. I'm a rebel!! My SisIL will disapprove, but if I'm honest, that's probably part of the appeal for me! See? A rebel...

Tonite's supper - let's see . . . Maybe just poached eggs and salad. I don't want to make anything with potential leftovers the day before a big meal. But if Bill gets a hankering, we can toss a pork chop and a potato into the oven instead.

What's the plan for your pre-feast feast?

Good morning,

Saw yesterday was National Waffle day, so to oblige, I did the fried chicken part to go along with Chickie's waffles! Teamwork! LOL

Yes, we are going to Matt's for dinner. I only need to do the Aunt Sarah salad, aka, funeral potatoes. Eggs were very cheap, I wonder why, so I will do up some deviled eggs as well.

I may make a goodie, but ee shall see. I am still old school and make pie dough from scratch. My magic chocolate flan cake turned out perfect. May need to make one for here, just need to figure out how to downsize the recipe.

Dinner - surprise, I have no idea

Enjoy,
Jana

Good morning from a very sunny, gorgeous, SW. Pa...We are indeed being blessed with this great weather and of course, my super company......

Mary, I had to smile when you said, you were "picking" up...Around here, we would say "redding" up...And you're bummed about Mr. Schwann, just think about me and the long summer ahead, darn! But as long as Jim keeps getting his Ensure through the VETS, I'll still have the UPS fellow....

it is hard to remember the ages of kids...They seem to go from 4 to 18 in a few days....But, my boys, Nick is 16 and well over 6ft. tall and Stephan will be 21 on the 7th of April. Terry...AND my baby, Terry, is 50 and could pass for Chuck Norris...
It is an absolute delight having these boys in the house..Being able to actually make a big meal and then sit around the table and hear the chatter, unbelievable...I've really missed that....

Jana, Those "funeral" potatoes are a favorite around here, so good and so easy to make....In our paper this morning, they had the names of the 2 other missionaries who were injured in Belgium the other day and another picture of the fellow they have interviewed on TV...It's a miracle they survived....Will certainly keep them and their families in our prayers...

Chickie, After seeing the wind whipping up in your area, I sure hope you're battened down...If that keeps up you might end up visiting another state.... Stay safe....

Not sure what we'll be doing today...Another DGS has a Lacrosse game this afternoon and the boys might want to see him play and then later, they are meeting an aunt for dinner...Yesterday, I turned them loose in the Goodwill store and when we left, I could not lift the bag...Love, love to shop with them, might have to try to squeeze in another shop....I had been on a mission to find a silk tie and came up with only 1 so will only dye a couple of eggs...Might be a dud but I have to check it out.....

As far as tonight's dinner, just Jim and I so it will be something simple...I think we're having burgers on the grill for lunch so dinner could be "get your own"....A friend sent us a poppy seed bunt cake and it is so good...I had never, ever tasted anything with poppy seed in it and was happily surprised....

Happy eating.............

Good Evening All......Storm Kate has arrived.....wind and rain......

its been a little over 3 weeks since I last sat at the table.....and may I say.....a rather eventful 3 weeks.....certainly the 1st one was........

to recap....you may remember we were off on a coach trip to visit my home town and see some of my cousins.....
well Sir decided he didn't feel up to the travelling.....so Ladyship goes it alone.....quick to add here.....I didn't mind the alone bit.....especially.... should I chance upon a Quilt Shop.....
anyway.....travel was fine.....coach was fine.....hotel was fine....though a bit worried at first.....wondering if any immigrants were about.....the room corridors can be very long and lonely when nobody else is around.....anyway all was ok......

I phoned the cousin I had been in touch with who asked if I had heard from her sister....er no....but I had her quilt with me....that was the Tumbler Quilt I made for her 70th birthday.....apparently she and her husband had moved.....and no-one knew where to.....they hadn't been in touch.....anyway...we arranged to meet up next day with her brother and sister-in-law....
next day I walked my little legs off.....wandering around lots of my childhood haunts.....met the cousins and had a jolly good laugh about the "old"days......
was so tired that after dinner went up to shower....bed....and.....book.....promptly feel asleep....woke up to flashing lights in the bedroom and sirens at full blast......it was only 9 30pm.....fire alarms going at full pelt.....everybody to go downstairs....had to get dressed....no slippers or dressing gown.....the building behind the hotel was burning and flames (so we were told)about 8 feet tall .......didn't know the town had so many fire engines or police cars......we were allowed back to our rooms about midnight......can I just slip in here......I was on the 4th floor.....in the east wing.....and the next to last room of a very....very....long corridor.....it felt forever to get anywhere.... after that little incident everything else felt quite tame......
will continue tomorrow....Sirs just informed me my telly prog.about to start......
lady Carol......menu still going strong....no hunger pangs here.......yet

Good afternoon! I need to be doing some last minute prepping for dinner here tomorrow, but thought I'd stop and say hi to everyone first. Mom was doing well today--I showed her pictures of some of the calves and other farm projects.

Jana--those waffles sure were delicious! Every day could be waffle day for me.

Lady Carol--what an adventure you had!!! Did you find any quilt shops and acquire fabric? It's nice not to have to hide it in the dirty clothes bag or under cushions... you are certainly not the first wife to do some creative fabric packing.

Irish--our wind has calmed. There have been several fires to the west of us... none too close, but I feel for everyone in the paths of the wild fires. I love poppy seed bread/cake!

MaryZ--my BIL was at the store when I was, and he was buying one of those key lime pies for their dessert tomorrow. He's cooking a turkey with all the trimmings. I'm rebelling and making frozen rolls with the help of Rhodes'. I started thawing their bread and making my cinnamon rolls with it, too. Easy, peasy--more time for quilting!

Time to make myself get to work here... Dinner tonight will probably be tacos or taco salad. I have some makin's left, so...

Happy Easter!!!
