Supper club, Mar. 16th, St. Paddy's Day Eve!
A very good afternoon from a semi warm, semi sunny but pleasant, SW. Pa.. And just as I wrote semi sunny, Mr. Sun showed his face, very brightly......
Not too much happening in this neighborhood, nice and quiet...Maybe everyone is getting ready for a big celebration tomorrow...THE BIG Parade was held last Sat. in Pgh. and it could be everyone is still trying to recover from that, lol....Jim used to march with the AOH but had to give that up...And the girls always danced/marched in the parade..In fact, the girls were busy the whole month of March with their dancing...DGD Cari, still dances and was given the job of planning all the events for the Coyle School of Dance, near where she lives...Boy, do I miss those dancing days...I've been very blessed with talented dancing girls, lol.....
Have any of you made Easter eggs using silk ties? I saw this on Facebook and I was so determined to try it BUT, in going through Jim's ties, only found 1 that was silk and it was so ugly I wouldn't use it...So, next time out, I'll stop at the GoodWill and see if I can pick up some ties and they have to be pure silk.....Years ago, I dyed eggs using the old time onion skins and the kids thought I had preformed a miracle, just think what they'd say with my "tie dyed" eggs, lol.....
Doing some laundry, doing some uglies and not much else...Tomorrow, I'm going to a super cool St. Patrick's Day luncheon so I wanted to get things done today....
Not sure what I might be cooking up today...Since I'll be out most of the day tomorrow, I might just make our Shepard's Pie today and then Jim can have the left overs tomorrow....
Years ago, when Jim worked, the whole plant would help him celebrate St. Paddy's Day and of course he loved it..He would be dressed in green from head to toe, even his undershorts had to be green...And all his girls would bring in "green" food for his lunch..One year, they put his picture on the front page of the Pgh. paper...
These days, our celebrating is quite a bit more low key but he will be listening to all the Irish music and tapping his toes.....
Well, it seems the washer knows my name and keeps calling me..I remember when the kids used to keep calling me and I'd tell them I was changing my name, well, might do the same with the washer.....
You all have a great day...and you all have my permission to start your "green" celebrating a day early....
Happy eating................

Re: Supper club, Mar. 16th, St. Paddy's Day Eve!
Good morning!
The sun is peeking through the leftover clouds here too. Sometimes so bright I can't see my computer screen! No complaints, I love the east view of my mountains!
I have been working on the Bloom sew along block for this week - just about ready to be sewn down.
Dinner will be leftover - what ever is in the refrig and then tomorrow I will do the St Paddy's day fare - corned beef, green jello, green mashed potatoes and even coleslaw. I love corned beef and could eat it all the time!It is funny how ever state has a different take on corned beef - my DDIL's never knew that it didn't come from a can! That changed quick when they married into this family. My boys quickly taught them how to cook a proper corned beef. After all these years, I learned that I can freeze a uncooked corned beef and it still comes out perfect. I freeze it in the package with all the juice/brine.
Well, Emma will be here in a few minutes and my other sidekick just dumped out a large box of ribbons and is trying to put them back, but of course they are unwinding and giving him fits! I will be good and help, after a few minutes of him struggling,
Enjoy,
Jana

Still cruh-aaazy busy here!!! The art quilt project is in full swing... next step. The results are quite serendipitous, and we've had some real good surprises. This was our learning curve on unbleached muslin. I think they should all turn out quite well if I don't mess up the quilting! I wish we had some bling--some of CindyG's hot-fix crystals would add some real neat sparkle. Maybe I'll have to check on those for summer...
Irish--I love hearing of your St. Paddy's celebrations!!! Years ago, when I first worked at the college, the students were out for spring break while we had to work, but the CAB (campus activities board) sponsor had all the staff bring green food for a big buffet for us. It was so much fun. She did a bang-up job with decorations and just a good time. They only did it once... sad! I know the green beer flows up at Rolla (MO) at the university there... well, at the off-campus bars. It's a famous party time.
I always wore green and changed my name plate to a more Irish sounding name for the day.
Jim would have been a blast to work with! Would love to indulge him with the green food and see his outfits. Workplaces need more fun!!! The college decided the staff didn't need any lunch hour parties (even though we brought the food)... the CAB had spent less than $100 of STUDENT money on us!!! However, the admin didn't see it as an appreciation for the staff from the CAB board but poor use of student funds--bad, bad, bad!
In Parsons, they cancelled the St. Patrick's parade this year. The local catholic church is St. Patrick's. Too bad they couldn't get enough entries. I'm sure the school will celebrate. We don't have any GKs attending there any more. It just goes to 8th grade now. When I was a kid, it went through 12th grade. Several of my friends went there.
Jana--I would love to come to your house for dinner!!! I could eat all green food and corned beef. Unfortunately, it won't happen here. I still may make stuffed green poblano peppers and a green salad. I haven't done this week's Bloom block. It will have to happen with next week's block. DGD is taking all my time with her projects, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I'm enjoying it as much as she is.
Dinner tonight... I'm thawing burger. Still haven't decided what DGD and I will fix. We are up to our ears in paints and stamps and fabrics!
Enjoy!!!

Irish, Jim sounds like he had really fun St Patrick's days! Love it!
Jana, in a can?! Oh my, glad I never knew of that before LOL
Chickie, sounds like a fun busy day at your house!
I'm off today, I totally cleaned the house from bottom to top and have been sewing. I've lost my 4-5 yard piece of WOW, I haven't a clue what I've done with it or my mind for that matter, ugh. Anyways it's the one I'm using for my background for my Bloom Blocks so I can't move forward until I get more this weekend. But I do have other things to keep me busy.
I thawed a small steak for us to share for supper, and will have baked sweet potato and a salad, we might even eat outside if the wind is calmer.
