SUPPER CLUB - Thursday, Feb 11th

Post by purrfect-lady » Thu Feb 11, 2016 3:32 am

Good Morning!

Well, our house is back to normal! The sisters are gone, the beds are gone, and the sewing machine is back! and I used it! The cats came with and climbed into their baskets for naps while I sewed. Aaahhhh..... we were all purring! and to top it off, Jim went to rehab yesterday afternoon. He is eager to get started. The nurses wouldn't let him do hardly any walking. And it's been 10 days since his surgery. He needs and wants to walk, play some cards, and drink a beer - possibly not in that order! lol! We're taking him some cards, PT will walk him, but I think he's going to have to wait a bit for that beer.

Scottie is lonesome, looking around for his aunties. They really gave him a lot of attention. And I haven't told him yet, but his best friend, Max, that we walk with most days died this morning. She was 14+ years and went downhill very fast these past few weeks. I wish they could have had one more walk together.

IRISH - I am very tempted to get a little brother or sister for Scot. Problem is, his father is less tempted. I hope there were no spats in your household over dinner last night! lol!

TINA - glad you could join us! Sorry everyone was 'troublesome' yesterday. I hope today is a better day for you.

BECCA - I'm happy your 6 yr old DGD is enjoying learning to sew! Maybe she could teach my 39 and 44 yr old DD's!! I sure haven't been able to!

JANA - I hope you get the birthday present you are hoping for! We had a triple birthday in my family, too: Autumn was born on my dad's birthday. And so was Shamrock, one of our shelties! We had some fun parties!

Well, all the leftovers are gone. Whew! I didn't think we'd ever get that fridge emptied! But we 'got 'er dun!' So we're moving on! I'm thinking something Mexican - perhaps tamale or chile relleno casserole, or chicken tacos . . . it all sounds good right now!

What's sounding good to you?

Mary sounds like Jim is doing way better, I'm so happy for him and all of you! :-) Dad went for his check up to the surgeon, 6 more weeks of physical therapy, he can take his brace off some times, still needs to use the walker. They told the Dr about the nursing home, he's going to look into it so he doesn't let any more of his patients go there. I asked Mom if they asked if Dad would benefit more from also going into a PT place and she said no because she would have an even harder time of things and she was pretty ticked off that I would even ask. Your supper suggestions sound yummy! Glad you got some sewing time in, I could hear you all purring from here ;-) I hope to sew tonight, last night I was just too tired and after supper had to go into Wal-Mart for milk and lunch meat. I'm sorry about Scottie's walking buddy, losing are furrbabbies is awful.
I'm not sure what's for supper here yet, I would prefer nothing LOL but Frankie needs to eat.

Good morning from cold, snow covered, SW. Pa...It's cold, darn cold but everyone is reminding me, this is FEB....But, I can remember those Feb. days when I spent my time in shorts in the sun in Florida....Spring is coming soon, right????

Mary, so sorry to hear about Scotties walking buddy...How hard to have a fur baby leave...The other day, when I was sorting all those pictures, of course I had more of all the fur kids we've had and with each picture, I remembered the fun things...Oh my, we've had a lot....
Very glad to hear the news about your DB...He's well on his way if he's asking for cards and a beer (or 2)...

Tina, hoping today is a better day for you...I honestly don't know how you do it and remain sane...You can be our Wonder Woman.....And, you know, I'm with you in the supper department...There are times I only cook because I need to get something into Jim.....Give me a bowl of chips and I'm satisfied, lol....

And as far as our dinner, I have nothing in mind (except that bowl of chips)...The freezer is stocked and I just can't decide...I do have another box so maybe I'll make the Prosciutto wrapped chicken saltimbocca...It has a garlic sage spinach and tomatoes with it...I think I've talked myself into that....

Happy eating..........

Eagle update: Baby eaglet is still in the hospital but is doing very well...I think they like spoiling him/her...But, as soon as the swelling goes down and the foot is normal, back to the nest....

Never fear… we have been eating well here, and the scales prove it! I just keep getting side-tracked from my computer and don’t make it to the table.

That’s amazing news about Jim! ‘Fraid the beer might interfere with some of his meds, otherwise you could sneak it by the nurses’ station.

Scottie definitely needs a brother or a sister. I was watching out the window today, and Boomer and Tinker Bell were rockin’, rollin’, runnin’ and rompin’ all over the yard. It was so much fun to watch. Odie is the elder statesman stick-in-the-mud and thinks that kind of play is beneath him. He’s kind of Grumpy Dog when they get carried away.

Boomer misses Tasha and scratches at the sewing room door hoping to find her. He will be so happy, because tonight we are going to go meet her and Mommy and bring her back home with us until Sunday evening. They only had three days of school this week!

Tasha plans to sew on her “Paris” (fabrics) quilt this stay.

Mary—my almost-49-year-old just didn’t get the sewing gene either. Sigh! Where did we go wrong???

Irish—DH couldn’t figure out what was going on with the temperature on his phone app awhile ago. It was showing 2 degrees, and all the daily stuff was in the single digits. Mine was showing 37 degrees. Finally, I checked a little closer, pushed a button or two… back to Fahrenheit!!! Somehow he had gotten switched to Celsius. It was too funny! Talk about Frick and Frack at our house… OMG! Your dinner sounds fabulous!!! I salivate just reading all your gourmet creations!!! I’m the same way… DH would not like if I cooked the way I would want… or no cooking at all!!!

Tina—I hope things are better for you today. So sad your mom is becoming difficult when she needs to step up and get her DH well. Rearing parents isn’t any easier than rearing kids… Ditto… I have to fix for DH, too.

Speaking of… Chinese take-out is gone… finished it last night. I have burger thawed and will make a couple of burgers for DH before I leave to go get Tasha. We’ll meet at the C-store at the half-way point. Tasha will probably have some chicken tenders while DD and I visit before parting. We might have a snack there…

Guess it’s time for the dogs to take me for a walk to see Ava…

Enjoy today!
