SUPPER CLUB - Wed, Jan 20th

Post by purrfect-lady » Wed Jan 20, 2016 3:27 am

Good Morning!

Lots of weather happening in the U.S. this week. Praying everyone can cozy up at home and "weather" it in comfort.

Yesterday I had a massage appointment in the morning and in the afternoon we went to friends' to pick up two beds for my sisters to use when they arrive in 10 days. In between I cleaned my sewing room and did a small bit of sewing on my Thanksgiving quilt. I just have 6 sunflowers to nail down and it will be finished! It won't get quilted for a while but that's OK. Thanksgiving is a ways off yet. But I sent my DD a picture and she said she loved it - with 3 exclamation points! Whew!!

CHICKIE - your SIL should pack his STL Ram shirts away. One day they will be a piece of football history and might even be worth what he paid for them! My brother can have up to five shots a day. We are hoping that Medicare or his insurance will pick up the cost - or at least some of it. Or even the drug company. At $1,000 per shot I don't see how they can expect to get many customers!

IRISH - My brother was able to ride a bike 10 years ago, but not now. Perhaps with the new med. Actually this med isn't that new - about 9 yrs, I think. But no doctor had ever told my DB about it before. We often have to make the bed with the 'help' of kitties, but more often of a bouncing 30-pound sheltie!

TINA - I hope your stove is fixed soon! Brrr!!! You will have a long day today. Prayers for your dad's surgery. Does he need to have the other knee done, too, eventually, or is this it? When the surgery is over, who is going to drive their MH back home? Is he going to rehab or right to home? Cindy only spent two nights in the hospital when she had her hip done.

BECCA - How are you doing?

JANA - did I read that Ethan has strep throat? Poor little guy! That hurts a LOT!! Hugs and smooches to him!

Well, because I ran short of time yesterday because we were out picking up beds for my sisters and because my cabbage leaves all broke into pieces, I just made a layered dish - chopped cabbage, the meat/rice filling, and more chopped cabbage with tomato sauce on top. It was awful! Don't do it!! there are enough leftovers for another meal, but I'm for giving it a toss. Life is too short! Bill can have it if he wants, but I'm moving on. We have lots of frozen leftovers so I think I'll pull out a container of frozen stew I saw in the freezer and pop it into the crockpot. I can 'beef' it up for a second go-round. Salad and biscuits and supper will be complete.

Here's hoping your supper isn't awful!

Good morning! We are going to be warmer today— 35 degrees… out of freezing anyway! Tomorrow… not so warm and the precip forecast. At least we have no accumulation, but there is an icy glaze from yesterday that I hope will evaporate soon.

Yesterday I made my carne asada into tamales and tamale pie (when I ran out of corn husks). I was so happy! They honestly tasted authentic!!! ¡Muy delicioso! I almost made myself sick eating too many, but I held back and saved some for another feeding frenzy. Yum, yum, yum!!! DH liked the tamale pie. I may get him to like Mexican food yet!!!

I doubt SIL keeps his shirts, besides they are well worn. That’s dreadful about $5,000 a day for meds!!! Seems like there should be some help out there somewhere!!! Some drug companies will supplement the cost… be persistent!!!

Odie helps me with the bed, too. Then he makes his own nest in it… back under the covers and on DH’s pillow!

Your layered dish sounds delicious! I know which layers DH would eat and which would be left for me… think green!

I have several things in the fridge that I’ll pull for dinner… have to get brunch out of the way first. I’m thinking DH will have a burger, and I’ll have some soup. Every day could be a soup day for me… unless it’s tamales!!! (Maybe I’ll have one for brunch??? Or perhaps huevos rancheros…)

I made some Valentine scarves for Ava, so the dogs and I will walk down and take them to her today. I’ll be the one that looks like the Michelin Man’s wife waddling down the road in my layers and layers of clothes!

Good morning,

We are cold here too, 36 and large flakes of the white stuff falling. Quite a bit, but it is the tail end of the storm, so it will pass. We have gotten about 2 inches in the last hour.

Michael finished my new closet shelf, after he had to rebuild the original one. Good thing he added the new shelf, the old one was pulling away and about to detach from the wall from the weight of all the clothes. Now, I can add more ! LOL

Michael has hinted, he bought the fixings for tortilla soup, so I will make a batch.

Ethan is doing much better. He is a little trooper.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from cold, no snow yet, SW. Pa...It seems, if the "people in the know" are right, we'll be getting some snow, how much, even those people don't know....I just know, it's cold, up to about 21 right now....

I have an appointment with the allergy doc this afternoon and can't believe, I actually have to put on all those clothes and go out...Why, oh why didn't I cancel! But, if I'm out, I might also run to Walmart and pick up some fabric to finish a couple table runners...Need to be prepared if we get snow....

Mary, with the bike riding, it was a new experiment...I am always taken aback by the charges of some meds...A nephew is fighting leukemia and his med is $5000, a mon but has gotten help through the company...I don't care who you are, no one should have to pay that much.....And you know, there is a recipe to make cabbage that way but I've never done it...Too bad you didn't like it....

And if anyone sees that Michelin Man, tell her Hi....You also could look like that little boy in the movie about the Red Ryder BB Gun....Hope you don't slip and fall....AND, I also need to know what is carne asada? Not that I'd be making it but just curious...When we were with Kathy, her DH kept talking about TriTip and how good it was..Well, he made it and it was OK....Our there it is something special, I guess.....But, for me, I really could get along without eating meat.....

Well, guess I'd better get moving....I have a lot of stuff to drop off at GoodWill on the way......

I made the Swedish meatballs/noodles last night and it was really good, so tonight will be leftovers for Jim and a salad for me...My kind of cooking..........

Happy eating.........
Stay warm, stay safe.................

Hello from snowy Carolina.Have 3 ins & still coming. We got DHs hair appt.& Finished my uglies.

Maryz Prayers that DBs med helps.Meds price has gone crazy. My Dr prescribed a generic for me that was 115.00 per month.Notice I said generic. He said when the drug Cos realized they were using it again they jacked the price up.
I am some better but still dizzy & weak as the meds do that.Just hoping it gets regulated. Was to go back to Dt tomorrow but with snow had to cancel as we live on Mtn.

Tina Prayers for your Dad that all goes well. And hope DD can get some help for you with the little ones. That is hard for you.

Jana Happy Ethan is doing better. He is a sweetheart.

Irish I too look like a snowman when I go out.

Chickie My DH would love your Mex food. Not so for me.

It will be pasta in creamy sauce with brocolli & chicken. Becca
