SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Jan 12th

Good Morning!

We had cops and their canine officer roaming our yard and woods last night. A guy in his undies was going from house to house, trying to open doors in the small development behind us, and then came into our next door neighbor's back yard. He confronted the guy and then called the cops. Two cars came and said they'd been looking for this guy all evening. We don't know if they caught him or not. We stayed inside and watched all the flashlights criss-crossing our yard and woods. Scottie, of course, was nuts about all this. I told him to hush or the cop dog would arrest him!

IRISH - you are right about the Steelers/Broncos game. I was mixing up my brother's fave team with my brother-in-law's team. Right now, we are watching all the games, no matter who is playing! And yes, I HAVE tried making - and un-making - a bed with the help of cats, and also a rather robust sheltie! Sometimes I just have to walk away and come back later when the bed isn't so occupied!

JANA - you can root for the Seahawks if you have no one else in mind. We have the prettiest uniforms!

BECCA - my kids have brought meals to us exactly twice - once in 1997 when I had major surgery my DD brought us a casserole and in 2006 my DIL brought an entire meat loaf supper for Mother's Day - the week after Mother's Day. She's an amazing cook! You are VERY lucky! FIVE DAYS TO GO!

CHICKIE - Dogs! They bring so much to our lives, don't they? and that includes potty sashays at 0400! haha! and they act so innocent!

TINA - chicken soup would be a great meal after a long day at the sewing machine! Or chix'n'dumplings! Or chix'n'noodle casserole. Or . . .??

I made Carol's navy bean soup yesterday. Of course, after all my additions, subtractions, and substitutions, it probably wasn't Carol's any longer. But I liked it. And we have enough for forever! So no cooking again tonite. Then I'll freeze the rest, I think.

What's your plan?

Good morning!

Oh, Mary! What a crazy night!!! Hope they caught the guy and got him into rehab or on some meds to quiet him down. Our dogs would have been going nuts as well—try 3 times Scottie’s noise level!!! We got through last night without a potty run at zero-dark-thirty. Nice!

I went with the alternate clean-up menu last night, so tonight will be the burritos and chiles relleños casserole along with salad materials.

Anything with chicken or banned food sells me! DH prefers beef. I have a mixed marriage. We often have two entrées at this establishment.

Enjoy!

Mary, I really liked our soup, Frankie said he preferred the cuppa one so I told him I'd freeze the chicken soup so he doesn't have to eat it again and he said, no no that's ok, he'd want another supper of it LOL what a goofball. Well it won't be until tomorrow night because the final season of Pretty Little Liars starts tonight and Holly said she's cooking for us :-)

I don't think I would have been able to sleep or go out with the dogs till I knew the almost streaker was found.

Chickie, you're a better person than me, my motto has always been, I'm not a restaurant, eat what I put on the table. However I do take requests :-)

Good morning!

Mary - what a night! I definitely would not like dealing with a 5150! That's the code for a nut case. Hope that they found him. Those canine dogs are amazing. Aaron worked with them in the Sherriff's office in California.

Chickie - many times here, I am a short order cook. It's me not in the mood for what Michael eats.

Tina - when I try new recipes, I wait to see if I can add it to the repertoire.

Dinner tonight will be a soup - a new recipe. Supposed to take 20 minutes. We will see. It is a chicken enchilada soup. Soup is good when it is 10 degrees outside!

Off to run errands, and start getting Robin's end of the Batt Cave made more efficient. She is my LA.

Enjoy,
Jana

Jana--it is my choice here as well. Often I have the sides and not the meat because I don't want to do more cooking. I am so lazy!

Hello everyone from a sunny but cold & very windy Carolina.
Maryz I am counting the days too.Oh our children are very good to us & very concerned about us as they know their Dad isn't doing good at all.My DDIL talked again to us trying to get us to move over there,Our DS called this morning telling us to pick up the gift certificate at Restaurant. When we saw the amount we almost killed over. Will take awhile to eat that all up.Plus every time they come they bring the food already cooked.Sunday was the first time I have cooked for them in probably 3 or 4 yrs now.

Chickie It is the same here 2 meals most days unless I just eat the veggies.I too eat the banned food & chicken. We do both eat soup & grilled chicken.

Tina With your babysitting & all you do cooking would be on the back burner for me.Glad DD is feeding you tonite.Enjoy.

Have no clue yet here but it may be soup as it is so cold.I did go to crochet class but only due to wanting a new pattern & for her to check what I had made.

Maryz I can do without that kind of excitement.lol Hope they caught the guy....Becca

Good early afternoon from snowy, cold, SW. Pa...But, we still don't have the snow or the cold that some of you are having...But, this white stuff if still a shock to my old system.....

Mary, what a night! Maybe the fellow had been "visiting" someone and was trying to find where he left his clothes....Those dogs are something, aren't they...Chris's son, Andy, works with them in the Pittsburgh area...Amazing animals.....

Tina, I have the same motto....When the kids were all at home, and to feed that many, it was, "it's on the table, eat it"...None of mine ever refused a meal and thank goodness, grew up not to be picky eaters....Our buddy, Ted's wife, used to cook 4 different meals at dinner time....I'm afraid someone would go hungry or make their own....

Chickie, I think I'm glad we don't have a dog...Getting up for me to go potty in the middle of the night is bad enough...My interruptions are mostly having a fat cat laying on my chest....I'd like to have your recipe for the chiles rellenos casserole....The only time I ate chiles rellenos, the sauce they put over it was way too hot...I'm sure Kathy would also like to have the recipe.....

Jim had a short check up this morning...This is the doc that caught me in my PJs and won't let me live it down...But, now when Jim goes, he wants me with him and I stand behind and more or less answer docs questions with a nod....With the snow and cold, we came straight home, I didn't even want to stop for lunch, now that's bad!

But, I'm going to catch up on my banking, clean off this desk and then play with the sewing machine....Had a request to make an Irish Chain in shades of blue, which will mean a trip for fabric, darn....(but on a warmer, snowless day)........

For our dinner, last night's chicken pot pie was delish and will make it to the table again tonight...I really should be baking something but we don't need it and I just can't seem to fit it in.......

Happy eating.........

Stay warm, stay safe......
