Good Morning, y'all!
Well?? Do we have any millionaires in our crowd this morning? Don't you think having all that money suddenly would be a big headache? Though it would be nice to be able to afford a big jar of aspirin for that headache!
It's my baby's birthday today! Autumn is 39. I wish I was there with her. But I'll talk to her later today. And she said she put the package I sent her on the table, waiting for this morning to open. I hope she has a nice birthday. Next year, her big 4-0, I plan to be there!
CHICKIE - our bottom of the barrel meal is usually either poached eggs or pasta with olive oil, garlic, and whatever else I can find to add in - veggies, olives, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, etc. It's never the same twice. I never think of using rice in place of the pasta, but that would be good, too!
TINA - that's how my mom got her job, too. She was volunteering in the library of my school and after a few years, she 'suggested' they start paying her. and they did! $2.75/hr, if I remember correctly. Full time. It beat driving the 30-mile round trip to school twice a day and paying bridge toll 4 times a day to drop us off and then pick us up again! And it was fun having her at school. Everyone loved my Mom!
IRISH - Is there a campground or RV park near you? You never now who might stop by some day . . . Did you watch your Steelers game last night? We did. Man, what a game! I ended up rooting for the Steelers at the end, and they took it with a field goal in the last few seconds of the game. I'm not too experienced at football yet, but so far I've never seen a game when the announcers have said, in flabbergasted tones, "Now what's going on???" TWICE! lol! And then there was that one TD where the player caught the ball and as he was rolling through the end zone, was handling the ball around his back and under and between his legs like a Harlem Globetrotter doing tricks!
CAROL - wait a minute! Didn't you already have banned food this week?? Did you get the part about 'BANNED'?? You are making me shudder here!
BECCA - my friend, Lois, used to make her sauerkraut and sort of gave me her recipe. That meant through the meal we were having at their house one time, she would call out things she added to it as she thought of them, and I tried to remember it all until we got home and I could write it all down. Small wonder mine never tastes like hers! But I like to add diced potato to cut the tartness and a bit of shredded carrot for color. Lois also added a splash of white wine while it was cooking.
Today my Seahawks are playing Mary Q's Vikings in the playoffs. And it will be COLD. What a showdown this will be! We'll be out to breakfast with my DB and SIL but will hurry home to get the game on by 10:00am. I'll be in front of the TV if you need me!
Happily, we have enough chicken cacciatore left over for tonite's supper. I actually got a comment from my DH on it, so it must have been pretty good.
I hope your supper tonite is pretty good, too!
Go, HAWKS!!
