SUPPER CLUB - Sun, Jan 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Jan 03, 2016 3:24 am

Good morning!

WE are still 29* here but have been sunny all week long. Actually, very pleasant! Our wood detail is done, though we may be getting involved in splitting/stacking for my brother soon. And my annual "January clean and purge" is done. Whew! I just need to straighten up my linen closet now. No big deal there. All the furniture is rearranged, which makes everything look fresh. Today will that one closet, breakfast out, and Seahawks. In between times I plan to sew some Valentine lotto blocks. I can dig it!!

BECCA - I agree with you - no canned soups here except for tomato. And then I add diced tomatoes and basil to jazz it up. I do use creamed soups for cooking now and then, though.

CHICKIE - that was some adventure you and your hubby were on! I bet the dogs thought it was great fun! lol!

IRISH - my daddy was a logger and I grew up in the woods. I even set chokers for him by the time I was 8. And I learned to stack wood, too. and it better be stacked right!! I enjoy it, actually. However, I AM glad that chore is done! I've heard about the 'rainbow' method of eating. Also, I've heard of the "no white food except for cauliflower diet', which sounds like it would be similiar.

JANA - I'm sorry, but I'm laughing at the story about the car getting stuck and then the truck getting stuck. Good thing there was a tractor!

TINA - Bill keeps saying he wants to see Star Wars but so far isn't making a move to go. I told him I'd go along to keep him company, but I'm sure not going to initiate it! Glad, though, Jaz has become a fan. Maybe I would, too . . .

CAROL 7 - you bet I rested yesterday evening! From 3:30 pm until bedtime I sat on my tushie, in front of the fire, watching TV, and sipping wine. I'd made my BBQ pork earlier in the day so we simply put the pan on top of the wood stove to heat. When we were ready to eat we simply spooned it over buns on our plates and resumed our seats. Relaxing evening!

Now on to supper - Not a clue here. the leftovers have all been dealt with. Bill says let's see what ideas come to us as we walk around Costco later this morning. Personally, I'm thinking homemade pizza, but we'll see.

Hope you have more ideas than I do!

Good frosty Morning to all.Sun has peeped out so it will warm up.Irish maybe it will reach you.

Maryz I used to can tomato soup & it was tasty but not anymore.Occasionally I use canned soup to cook with.Dont like the sodium because of BPressure.

Tina Glad the movie was a fun time for all.

Chickie Your life is never dull on the farm.

Jana Your MIL must been spunky to go out in a blizzard.DH had to pull one out with his tractor a long time ago.We had a big snowstorm.

Someone mentioned a date cake.Sounds so yummy as I love dates.I used to make a prune cake & so did my Mom.They were real moist & yummy.

Enough rambling & on to menu.DH wanted one of the chicken pies our DD brought us for Christmas. They are frozen. She buys them from a Church bazaar close to her.they are all meat between a double crust. Will add Cole slaw & green beans.Have cookies. Becca

Good morning!

Oh yes my MIL was a one of a kind. Very independent. I was never on her like list, she tolerated me at a distance. Now, her mother was a spitfire!

Mary - hope the Hawks win this week. I loved going out to breakfast, but where I am now, there aren't many places.

Becca - oh those pies sound yummy!

Dinner tonight will be the pork chops. Got side tracked the other day.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon from a very chilly, overcast, Sw. Pa...I am going to complain about the weather today, it's really causing problems with my muscles....I have a feeling, the heated throw and I will be best buds most of the day....

We did go to early Mass and then on to breakfast and it was a good time..After having all the kids join us other Sundays, today was quite sedate......This afternoon, Jim will be parked in front of the TV watching the Steelers, probably with his eyes closed....
We both had a bad night...If Jim knows he's leaving the house in the morning, he's up all night asking if it's time...He has a bad time with nights and times so neither get much sleep....

Today will be a lazy day for me, for sure....Finished reading the paper and after I get a cup of tea, I see a nap coming on.....

Funny stories about being stuck, not funny at the time but when you look back, does make you laugh...And it's always good to have something to smile about....

I'm thinking our dinner will be something light...Do have left over breaded chicken fingers, so just need to come up with something to go with....Wish I had 1 of those chicken pies, Becca is having....Sounds so good!

Happy eating................

and yes.....before you ask......he did manage to eat his dinner........naughty me.....have slapped my wrist.....about to take a cuppa tea to the "sick" room.......
