SUPPER CLUB - Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas to you all!
CAROL - I bet that vegetarian lasagna was good. I'm kind of half vegetarian myself - just not a big meat eater. Going through "body lab" in nursing school knocked that meat-eating gene right out of me!
IRISH - I know you're loving having the boys home, messing up your kitchen! And I'd be happy with coconut cream pie -happier still if someone were making one for me from scratch!
JANA - I've never made prime rib. Not being a big meat eater - and when I do eat it, I want it done to a crisp! - it's not high on my list. But I understand that for those who like it, it can be a tricky thing to make. My DB asked for prime rib for today's dinner, which surprised me because it's traditionally cooked rare, isn't it? And like me, he likes his meat very well done. So we'll see what we get today! His wife has never made prime rib. And funny thing - friends have invited us over for New Year's Day and they also want to have prime rib! Just for us.
CHICKIE - I bet Doyal would LOVE prime rib! Are there prime ribs on squirrels? lol! Sorry, just have to tease - but then you know that, right? Hope the storms have left you alone!
TINA - I know you are in your kitchen cooking up a storm for your crew today!
BECCA - I can't remember if your big dinner was last night or this morning. But I know your family is really helping with the menu!
We'll be at my brother's for dinner and I'm taking green beans and a caprese salad. Their other guest is bringing potatoes of some kind (she is the food artist I mentioned a few days ago). And I hear there will be pie and rolls and bread pudding. No one will go hungry!
Merry Christmas to you all! Bon appetit`!
P.S. While I was typing this post, we had another bird 'incident'. So we had the big chase scene again, this time downstairs in the family room, amongst my collection of kerosene lamps! Once again, we saved the bird, though he seems a shocky. WE put him outside under shelter, up high, and he's in an open box on its side. And Foxy is locked INSIDE. I think when the shock wears off, the bird will be OK. Tiny little finch with a bright yellow streak on his head. Cats!! Why do I have to be a cat lover?? But I am and there seems to be no help for it.

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Christmas Day!
Merry Christmas!
Mary - my roast fit everyone's tastes last night. The end slices were well done and the middle a nice medium. It rally isn't hard to cook. I use Paula Deen's recipe and add a little time at the beginning to get it done the way this family likes it. Some are like you, well and then some are like me - rare!
Dinner is fend for what there is here. I will bring back some of the leftovers from last night.
In a couple of hours we will be Skype ing with Stu. This is one of the 2 days a year we can talk with him. As a mom, we look forward to this day with the anticipation of a child at Christmas!
Enjoy,
Jana

Merry Christmas Everyone!!
Maryz - The lasagna last night was delicious. Best thing about it was how simple it was to prepare dinner.
Jana - Know you are looking forward to skyping Stu!
Becca - Enjoy the pizza today. No leftovers are great when you are going to have a big dinner the next day.
Today's dinner will be steak, salad, baked potato, and broccoli. We do have leftover lasagna for tomorrow so no leftovers tonight is very good!!
Have a wonderful day today!

Merry Christmas to All!!! And to all Good Eating!!!
Dinner will be here at 4:00 to accommodate some of the family attending other noon meals. My turkey is browning in the oven, and I'll be sticking the dressing in the oven before too long. Rolls are rising and will bake while the turkey is "resting". Ham needs to be heated, and SIL's (unassembled) green bean casserole to make and bake. I did cranberry sauce yesterday. The gravy is ready to add some final broth from the turkey... I love it when a plan comes together!
Best wishes to all of my friends!!!
P.S. Yes, DH would love prime rib! He likes anything made of beef... as long as it's in big hunks and not hiding in a bunch of veggies. I'm much more of a non-meat person. Give me the dressing and cranberry sauce from today's meal, and I'm a happy camper!
