SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Dec 19th
Good Morning! It's still dark here, but I don't think it's raining! Hallelujah!! It's been so gloomy here that our outdoor Christmas lights are coming on at 2:30 in the afternoon!
I gave Warren his quilt last night and while he doesn't show much emotion on his face or in his eyes since his stroke, the look he gave me said how much he appreciated that quilt. Brought tears to my eyes!
IRISH - Tell your sis I really like her a lot! If we could just do Mexican now and then instead of Chinese . . . . And a new grandkitty! and black and white - the best of the best! I'm jealous.
TINA - I bet you really needed Calgon to take you away last night! Even I was exhausted just reading your post! Glad you got to go out to eat.
BECCA - Are you making your sugar cookies into shapes and decorated or simply round and sugared? I won't be making any this year, though I have a recipe I just found for pinwheel cookies made with chocolate and vanilla dough. I think for Christmas it would be fun to make them red and white instead. The recipe was in a cooking-themed paperback I just finished. I may try that - next week. I'm also thinking of making Mary Q's Mom's Cranberry Bread.
Today is our family Christmas so I'll be putting on a turkey dinner. Just turkey breast as no one here likes the dark meat. And Bill HATES the smell of a simmering turkey carcass. So I no longer do an entire bird. We'll also be having mashed potatoes/gravy, dressing, succotash, green beans, pineapple casserole, and a tuxedo torte (from Costco). And the usual tray of pickles, olives, and cranberries. And I got a text from my Dd last night that said she was bringing a blueberry pie. I think we'll be well fed! Both my DD and DIL want to bring appetizers, too.
Anyone who is in the neighborhood, feel free to stop in! We've got plenty!

Oh my goodness Mary your supper tonight made my stomach growl, yum yum yummy!
I stayed up till 1:15 but I got it done! I wrapped and packaged this morning, I scheduled the pick up last night so that was a little more incentive to get it done LOL
I'm not sure what's for supper yet, I haven't had breakfast. We're going to take all the furrkids to the groomer in a little bit then lucky me gets to come home and start cleaning so the baking can start. Hopefully I can get back later to tell you....what's for supper

Good morning! Today is luncheon with DH's late wife's clan--always lots of food and family fun!!! I have baked beans in the oven and guacamole chilling in the fridge with chips waiting on the counter.
I had a fun excursion yesterday that included lunch (way too short) with my DD, a medical exam (routine), delivering my DGS's birthday cookie and an afternoon of Yatzee with him before his sister and dad came home. We visited awhile, then I headed west after picking up chicken, taking some to Mom and sitting and visiting with her while she ate dinner, and on west again. When I drove in the lane, Odie was running to meet me, so I opened the truck door for him to jump in. I had a VERY wet, smoochie welcome home!!!
Mary--so glad Warren enjoyed his quilt and was able to "tell" you so!
Dinner tonight will be a few leftover snackies after this dinner at noon. The family will probably get together later for cards and the leftovers and snacks... it's always a fun day--all day and most of the night!

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Dec 19th
Good late morning from cold, semi dreary with a few of those nasty white things floating around, SW. Pa....Yep, it's back to winter but hopefully not for long...2 days is enough for me.....I was teasing Jim, yesterday when he walked to the PO, I told him he'd better take a shovel...We were having a few of those white things and I didn't want him not make it back home....
Mary, so glad to hear about Warren....Expressions and looks can mean so much....Oh I'm sure you'd like my sister...We, on the right side of the country haven't really been introduced to good Mexican food so, I guess we'll have to visit the left side of the country...When she and I visited Kathy, she took us for Thai and I thought that was great...Didn't know what I was eating but it was good, especially the peanut sauce....We lead a very sheltered life here in the east.....
And you're right about those black and white kitties, she is really something......
Becca, I can smell the cookies baking the whole way up here.....I sure wish someone would get started in this house.....
Chickie, it sounds like you really had a fun day and having another today....It's sure is good to be you......
Tina, sorry but your day doesn't sound like fun...But at least you got your wrapping done...I still have boxes sitting in the sewing room that have to be done....Thank goodness for gift bags and in a pinch, white kitchen garbage bags, lol....
As for dinner, we are supposed to be getting together with Cari and Matt and not sure who else...BUT, they left early this morning with Dan and his girl, to visit the Zoo...Today is the Penguin march and these crazy kids wanted to be there.....
So, when they decide to get back this way, I guess we'll find out what's happening.....As long as I don't have to do much cooking, I'm up for just about anything, and sure would be satisfied with take out.......
Happy eating...............
Finally figured, after I post, the next time I come to the site, I have to put in my name, even though I have checked that box.....Now isn't that a revelation, only took me months to see it.....

Good afternoon,
I've got the big game on, not doing well - in fact, could drive me to drink, if I did!
Sarah and I finished shopping today. Now to start wrapping. This year I am not waiting! LOL
Dinner - I am making Cinese - shrimp fried rice and chicken chow mein.
Mary - what a special time for both of you. He may not be as expressive as he once was, but was able to convey how much he loved it . That is what Christmas is all about.
Well, need to get going,
Jana
