SUPPER CLUB - Tues, Dec 15th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 15, 2015 3:48 am

Good Morning!

We had a dry, sunny, albeit chilly day yesterday! And I didn't mind the chill. After all, it is the middle of December. We got all our storm debris cleaned up. it's looking pretty good around here now, for a winter yard! All that's left now is the dealing with the resulting firewood. I don't run the chainsaw, but I do help with the splitter (we borrow my DB's log splitter) and I do the stacking into the woodshed. We probably have a cord of wood to deal with.

CHICKIE - I forget how a 'rick' compares to a 'cord'. My logger dad would be ashamed of me for sure.

IRISH - today's your day to run with your sister! I've got my cell phone handy! If there's mischief afoot I don't want to be left out!

BECCA - I didn't envy you at the post office yesterday. but glad you 'got 'er dun!' so sorry to hear about your eye problem. Is this a big deal to fix or is it more like a cataract procedure? Your Panthers are really burning up the gridiron!

JANA - So what is your weather going to do today? You said you wanted snow and I complied as best I could. You should probably know there is a sunny day on it's way now, too.

TINA - I can see why you don't care for blue! It's one of my favorite colors, along with green and turquoise. Are your pork tenderloins pre-seasoned or do you season them yourself? If so, what do you use to make them 'spicey'?

I think we're going to have beef stew tonite. I have all the makings in the house and it will give me good leftovers for tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon is my brother's surgery for his bladder "tumors". (we're not using the ca word yet. We're hoping it's just scar tissue from ca he had 4 yrs ago and then repeated cystoscopies.) Anyway, I suspect when we get home from the hospital it will be nice to have a supper we can just reheat. Tonite, we'll have salad and maybe even bread. Bill picked up four vacuum-packed baguettes at costco yesterday that have a pull date some time next year. I wonder what's in them to make them last that long!

Hope the eatin's good at your house!

Good morning from a very dreary, overcast, chilly, SW. Pa...From what I'm hearing from the "weather people", it's supposed to only get into the low 50s today but tomorrow is to be sunny and warm, BUT then the bottom drops out.......Do we trust what the weather people say????

Mary, you can go save your "bail" money for another day....We have to cancel out little excursion until tomorrow...Between her husband and Jim, they seem to keep doctors hopping....So bright and early, barring any husband's flimsy excuses, we are off...I know, you'll be concerned about your DB so we'll try, will be hard but we'll try to stay out of too much trouble....Of course if I'm not here on Thursday, our trying didn't work.....
My prayers and thoughts are with your DB, certainly praying it's scar tissue...

Yesterday's trip to JoAnns surely helped the economy...I hadn't planned to make so many fleece throws but when I saw all those bolts, I almost needed a 2nd cart....Now if someone would just hide the car keys so I'd stay home and get them done.....Oh well, I really do work better under pressure.....

Today's plan is to go to Walmart...We are down to our last 2 cants of cat food and I can feel a revolt being planned...Need to stop at DGS, Dan's and give him some "feel better stuff" and then get home and sew....

Tonight's dinner will be stuffed peppers and maybe throw in some baked potatoes and a veggie....Do have some ripe bananas so maybe will mix up a few loaves of banana/nut bread...One of these days, I do need to start cookies...What did I say about working better under pressure??????

Happy eating...............

IRISH, I'll still be keeping an eye on my phone, 'just in case' . . . and down to your last two cans of catfood!!??!! Oh no! STARVATION IS IMMINENT! You KNOW better than that! Our cats get all hinky if the dry food bowl gets even half-empty! You better get yourself off to the catfood store immediately or you'll be very sorry!

Hello girls.Sunny & warm here.Just got back from walk.
My crochet class went well.

Maryz The eye procedure is nothing like cataract. It is a very delicate operative where they peel back layers of tissue.
Maybe you really don't want to know what is in the food to make it last so long.

Irish my DD works better under pressure but not me.Do not like being pushed.

Did get all my sewing done except 2 cozies & if the machine doesn't stop acting up they will not get made.Yesterday nothing went right & the stitching wasn't looking good.May get to check it out today.Hoping to get some of the ribbon candy ornaments made.No sewing there.
Hamburgers are on the menu. Will add a veggie.... Becca

Good afternoon,

Still snowing, albeit lightly. The walks and driveway are shoveled and salted. I have been a busy bee. Packing up the box for California. Taking it to UPS just down the road in a few.

Becca - my mom dealt with macular degeneration - is yours similar?

We have power, but DH is studying how to turn on the gas fireplace if we lose it. We have to add batteries to the ignition system.

Ethan and Grandpa are playing with the big train under the tree.

Dinner - chicken something

Enjoy,
Jana

Mary, I hope it's just scar tissue too, prayers. My pork tenderloins aren't seasoned, I use an egg, cayenne pepper and Dijon mustard mixed up together then put them in a mixture of bread crumbs and toasted pecan bits. Frankie loves them.
Tonight we're having leftovers, chicken soup that I had frozen.

Whoo-hoo!!! Sewing is complete and everything is wrapped! DH took my mailing boxes to the post office this morning. WHEW!!! I’m beat!!! Tomorrow will be cleaning up some of my messes in my sewing room and starting on the house. Thursday will be making DGS’s birthday cookie and delivering it on Friday and having lunch with my DD. Saturday is a luncheon. Next week will be cleaning in earnest and preparing for dinner here on Christmas. If possible, I might get ambitious and make some sugar cookies, but I think I really should work on my sewing room instead.

Dinner tonight will be either reruns of the fajitas or reruns of the ribs. Cook is tired!

Mary—a cord is 2 ricks… at least I think so. I believe a cord is 8’x4’x4’, and a rick is 8’x4’x2’. Maybe it’s different in other areas, but DH sells his ricks at 8’x4’x2’ which seems to be standard in these parts. Yes, did I tell you, the ribs fell off the bones and were/are dynamite! Best wishes to your DB and your family!!!

Irish—count me in for mischief! I’d rather be playing than cooking or cleaning!!! Plus, you like to go for Chinese! Anything suits as long as I’m not cooking! I always seem to work better (work at all) under pressure. Your fleece blankets sound delightfully snuggly!!! I know they will be welcomed!

This is the earliest I've ever finished my sewing projects! Wonder what/who I forgot???

We had a beautiful day today. albeit somewhat windy. That’s o.k. It will dry out the ground a little. Yep, either too wet or too dry around here… We only had 2” of rain over the weekend, but it was mostly runoff or stayed on the surface with the wet grounds from earlier. Tomorrow, the high is to only be in the low 40s… that’s 20+ degrees cooler than today!!!

Every color is my favorite! I even like orange! Brown is probably my least favorite, but I can live with it with other colors. I’m not fond of pastels—I like vibrant colors that shout… nothing meek or mild… That may be why I really like batiks. I have very few pastel or light batik fabrics.

Tina—I’m always wanting to come to your house for dinner! YUM!!!

Jana—I’d have to find someone to issue a UPS pick up here. They are only open about half an hour in late afternoon/early evening for window service in town--Same with FEDEX. Our PO is only open two hours a day, but usually there aren’t lines for our little town. Hope you didn’t have long lines!

Becca—hope you get your sewing machine straightened out! I had problems one day and just had to leave it. The next day I worked on it and was able to make the adjustments and it sews like butter. I had hit a couple of pieces when I was cleaning lint from under the throat plate. Good luck!!!

I suppose I should drag myself up and go start dinner… Enjoy!
