SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Dec 8th

Post by purrfect-lady » Tue Dec 08, 2015 3:08 am

Good Morning!

Boy, have we had the rain! Anyone who lives east of me, batten down your hatches - 'cause it's coming your way! Wait! That's just about everybody, isn't it?!

JANA - I can't believe Ethan is almost 4 yrs old! How did that happen??

CHICKIE - what are you doing, reading this?? You should be sewing! Did you make those stuffed peppers last night?

TINA - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope today is a good day for you. I know yesterday wasn't so wonderful. Thought of you all day.

BECCA - wouldn't a garland of those ornaments you make look nice on a tree!

IRISH - Jim wouldn't be happy in my house. My baking skills have sunk to a new low this year. Everything I try to make flubs. I might try cookies today. Oatmeal craisin since that's Bill's favorite.

I was originally planning homemade pizza for tonite, but there is enough chicken parm left for another supper, so looks like no cooking for me. Gosh darn it! We had salad and frozen peas/carrots with it. I skipped the starch since the chicken was breaded (and since I seem to have gained 3 pounds somewhere). And we didn't miss it! I think I'll start doing that more often. Trouble is, starch is like my favorite food!!

Are you all starting to make plans for your holiday meals?

I know I need to be sewing!!! On my way in a minute! I did make the stuffed peppers last night, and they were delicious!!! I used venison with taco seasoning--I like to cover the venison with spices, so I do chili and tacos with it. DH made a liar out of me--he really liked them!!! Of course, he was hungry enough to peel paint and eat it. He was out playing lumber jack and didn't get an afternoon snack. The great news is that I have more peppers/filling left for tonight. Some of it may make taco salad or chili tomorrow night... I love not having to be cooking every night!

I gained from eating last night... must have been too much protein! I honestly only had salad with it... only a bit of brown rice in the filling... I love starches too!

Mary--you will laugh. I bought a pound bag of Brussels sprouts, and I will eat the whole thing! I ate all of the last bag of them, too. DH and greens... sigh!

I must start thinking of Christmas dinner. I think it will be here, too. That means cleaning house... Aaaaak!

Tina--happy birthday to you!!!

Jana--Ethan's hollow legs are funny! By the time he is a teen ager... look out!!! Buy stock in farms and grocery stores!!!

Irish--Your DH and mine must be brothers with their sweet tooths! DH always has room for dessert, and he's lucky if he can find anything. Sometimes it's just peanut butter and jam, but that jam is sweet and homemade, so he's happy.

Becca--did you make the ornaments? I think any ribbon would work. The candy came in all widths. I loved it as a kid--haven't seen it in years. I think Russell Stover made some really delicate ones that were packed in boxes but I haven't seen them in at least 20 years.

Off to sew until the geezer coffee group breaks up and DH arrives for brunch...

Good morning from a very dreary, kind of chilly, SW. Pa...But, it's an OK day for getting caught up, which I really need to do....

Tina, our birthday gal! Hope this is the "bestest" day ever.....

Mary, I'm sure you're cooking skills aren't as bad as you think...I often don't even eat what I bake, not that I really get the chance...Jim is usually standing near the oven as soon as the timer goes off...Yesterday, the pie was hardly out of the oven and there he was with his plate...I haven't thought too much about Christmas cookies yet, just because I don't have enough hiding places in this house.....

Chickie, I've never thought about taco seasoning in stuffed peppers, does sound good...But, sorry, I just can't do the venison...The "other Jim" from breakfast will give us some when he gets a deer and I will make it for my Jim and he loves it but, just not for me....

Becca, When you start to talk about ribbon candy, I think of my Mom, that was one of her favorites and for Christmas, everyone would make sure she got her candy....Good memories......Would love to see the ornaments......

Today, I thought I had an appointment with the allergist but it's tomorrow, thank goodness, so I get to stay inside all day....I'm repairing a quilt for a DGS along with "making it longer" and hopefully, be able to finish a couple of projects....

As for dinner, the chicken ala king was good last night, will be even better tonight......

Happy eating....................

Back To Dancing again, yippee!! DH is doing burgers on the grill.
He tells everyone that he got a promotion, with my accident.
He is "Chief Cook" and "Bottle Washer" LOL
Love him dearly for taking such good care of me. :-)
