SUPPER CLUB - Friday the 13th!
Good Morning!
We are having quite the weather system blowing through. No twisters or hurricanes or Texas-sized flooding, but still, very attention-getting for us Northwesterners who are accustomed to generally quite mild weather.
TINA - how did the Zuppa Toscana turn out? Isn't that a lot like minestrone soup? I've had Z.T. in restaurants and it was yummo! My salsa-making marathon is over. Whew! I ended up with 24 pints. Personally, I could wish it were a bit spicier, but since I made it for Christmas and hostess gifts, mild is probably better. Now to cut fabric circles, pink them, and add them to my jars under the ring. Presentation is everything!
CHICKIE - your birthday cake sounds a lot like something I would love! Pineapple, coconut, rum... what's not to like! Hope your day was special! Relieved to hear your mom is doing so much better.
JANA - I love your term, "quick and dirty"! I think I'm going to steal that one! And I know little Tanner is going to love it!
BECCA - I bet you are busy being over the moon over that new baby girl! Love her name - Charleigh Rae! Is it pronounced "Charlie"?
Supper tonite? Hmmmm.. We are supposed to go to a "wine social" at the home of a couple we don't know very well. We've never been to their house before. We have mutual friends, but those friends are in Tennessee right now. So we will know no one else there. which is OK, but it's always nicer if there's a familiar face in the crowd. We're taking an appetizer (cheese and crackers) and DH is pulling out one of his better wines. Personally, I'd rather stay home and watch Last Man Standing, but that would be being a "stick in the mud", or so I was told. LOL! And that's probably true. So, the take-away here is that dinner will be cocktail food, and I will be a good sport!
What will your plate be sporting tonite?

Hello everyone.Sunny but colder.Tonite we see 20s so must make sure the flowers are all in.
Yesterday was a very busy day so never made it to table.I was waiting on Drs office to call & baby girls birth. Her name is pronounced Charlie. She was born late last nite.
We had lots of wind yesterday & it really helped blow leaves away.
Maryz That tree would really be a concern. They do major damage if they come down.I thought you said the owner doesn't live there.I wouldn't want to be liabable.all your salsa sounds delish.Enjoy your party.
Jana sounds like you are getting prepared for the Winter weather.
Chickie Glad you had a wonderful Birthday. And That Mom is doing better.Good DH had moved on to a new location.
Irish Hoping the meds are working & soup is soothing all your ills.
Tina DSs dinner was delish I am sure.If we don't have to cook it taste better.
DH will have a burger,Cole slaw, oven fries,For me chicken breast strips, roasted eggplant, green beans. Cherry pie for DH. Becca

Mary and Becca, yeppers it was sooooo good, a bit too spicy but did that stop me from eating a bowl, no way! LOL I think the leftovers are going to grace the table tonight
I sure hope so anyway
Congratulations Becca on the new baby girl
I'm at the Drs office for the second time today, 3rd time this week! I've already exceeded my yearly visits quota! I only go to the Dr when one foot is in the grave LOL please let this pain in my head stop already :'(

Tina—twice in one day!!! I hope you get help!!! I would go for the spicy soup. I even put “Slap ya Mama – hot” in my potato soup. I will look up a recipe for your soup.
Becca—I thought perhaps it was “Shar-lie”—do like it either way for a girly girl!
Mary—I’m sure you will have no problem working the room and finding things in common with people you have never met before. Enjoy!
I’ve been cleaning house, and the dogs and I walked down to play with Ava. Boomer and she really romped and had a big time. DH is off to his woodcutting. No wind today, so I feel better. It’s beautiful outside!
Yesterday was a nice day. I had lots of birthday wishes, and I especially appreciate all the ones from my pals here in QIAD! You are the BEST friends!!! The cake was delicious—I’ll be using that combo again. Tonight’s dinner… potato soup for me, the last of the pork chops for DH along with some apples and potato soup. I might make a salad… maybe.
Enjoy!
