Good morning!

I guess today is All Hallow's Eve Eve! Celebrate! Have a candy bar! We are having a big storm - wind, rain, and things blowing over. No time to be living in amongst the big trees! Scottie is off to the groomers this morning. He won't be a happy dog when he sees where this 'ride' takes him. And then DH has an appt with a surgeon about a recurring ganglion cyst on his wrist. It's gotten pretty big in a very short time, so we may be looking at him being laid up for a week or so from doing any "manly" work.

BECCA - what a great feeling to get rid of more stuff! I'd be happy just to unload my piano! Congrats on the new Gr Grandbaby coming in May. I think I have a quilt pattern for a Raggedy Ann Baby Quilt if you'd like to borrow it.

IRISH - Did you know kittens in one litter can all have different fathers? My fluffy calico, Riley, has a sister that lives with my son. She is sleek, grey & white (named Dorian for Dorian "Grey"). And the third kitten in that litter was Siamese! They will all be 17 yrs old in April.

CHICKIE - I'm coming to your house to do my trick-or-treating! I love Chocolate chip cookies! Here, you can't give out homemade treats. Everything has to be packaged. So we bought the mixed bag of fun-sized Snickers, M&M's, Milky Ways, and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. At Costco. Just in case that first trick-or-treater in 28 years knocks on our door. We'll be ready!! If DH doesn't have it all eaten before tomorrow night! lol!

TINA - I know you are neck deep into sewing Halloween candy bags!

Now for this evening - A woman in DH's gym class said she is thinking of buying a travel trailer. So my social husband invited her to come and look at ours! They've made the plans and set the date - today. Now it is a group of four coming - 2 couples! Bill mentioned wine and the couples asked what they could bring. Does this mean I'm hosting a cocktail party? In our trailer? To top that off, we are having company (that we actually know!) for supper! Just chili and cornbread and salad. I told them they may as well come early and join the party! All y'all can come, too, if you want!

Good morning from a dreary, no rain, but cloudy, SW. Pa....A very good day for staying home, which I plan on doing....I already warned my sister not to call....Of course she did tell me her DH left for camp this morning and she just might come up with a good reason to "drag" me out of the house......

Mary, Sorry to hear about Bill's wrist...You'll have to put that "honey do" list away for awhile....I did know about the kittens and the different fathers...Years ago, we had 2 semi feral gals (mom and daughter) who presented us with litters, at the same time...And actually brought all the babies to our back porch, they were so proud....We had 11 balls of fur, long hair, short hair and every color you can imagine...We put out an extra big cat bed and these little balls of fur weren't particular when they were hungry, either mom would do...Each of the babies were adopted (pre screened by me) and then we were able to get the gals fixed...They lived here for years until old age took them...
When Scottie comes home from the groomers, does he strut around for everyone to admire him? Our Simba used to think he was the "cats meow" after his grooming...The other cats would just hiss at him.....Silly fur kids......

Becca, another baby???? You are certainly blessed....

I did get some of the small candy bars and will fix up some bags...We'll get maybe 4, (next door kids) and the rest will be Jim's...Now this is the 3rd time I've had to buy candy so we know the extras won't go to waste......

For tonight's dinner, I think I'm going to join the party at Mary's...I've never known anyone who could whip up a diner party with people they didn't know but why not...They'll end up being great friends....

But, since it's chilly, I should use the oven so it might be "mac n cheese" filets with some real mac n cheese....And I'm thinking apple pies...That should heat up the house.....

Happy eating...................

Yeppers Mary and Becca, I've been sewing sewing sewing :-) and been having grandson lovin ;-) I just put the finishing touches on Jayda's TOT bag and took a 15 minute break, State regs you know ;-) now I'm going to go finish Easton's hopefully before lunch :-)
Supper is more leftover soup, tonight will probably finish it off :-) It looks and feels like snow outside! Holly still has no heat, they said they couldn't get to her until November 18th! Ridiculous! We're trying to gather up portable heaters.

Good morning,

Mary - sorry about Bill's wrist. My mom had one of those on a finger joint, it came back too. Party at your house! You are a good sport for doing it!

Becca - oh what fun, more babies at your house!

Irish - Sarah keeps trying to drag me out shopping too. Today I just said no! It is quiet here for a little while.

We have tons of ToTers here. I have 3 huge Costco size candy bags and Sarah has a couple more. I sure hope we don't run out. In the Ward Primary - there are around 200 kids - that doesn't count the teens and the non members of the church kids, so we have quite a few. My friend does home made donuts for all the kids - the kids all hit her house first!

Tonight is a semi no cook for me. It is the Ward Fall Fest party and dinner - a chili cookoff and we eat all the entries. Michael signed me up for a dessert to take, so I have in the oven, my impossible chocolate flan bundt cake, topped with caramel. Hopefully it comes out of the pan, I ran out of Pam, so used the Pam for baking. Crossing fingers! The cake is on the bottom, topped with a custardy flan, with caramel dripping down the sides. It is yummy!

Enjoy,
Jana

Good afternoon! I started here earlier but didn’t get any farther than opening the thread to see what everyone was doing. Since then I’ve made brunch, helped load several ricks of firewood and get ready to make some pies for a friend who lost his mother. A brief break, and on to the pies…

DH went to town to look again at the rental that someone slimed out of under cover of darkness without paying or cleaning. Gag!!! I’m so sick and tired of this!!! I don’t have time to clean it. PERIOD!!! I’m sure eventually I’ll have to let something slide, because DH won’t want to wait to get the next skank into it. Grrrr! I really hate the rentals!!!

Mary—come to my house!!! The few who make it to the end of our dead-end road and up our lane should be rewarded, right? Just don’t tell! I only make for six ToTers.

I’m taking guacamole, cheddar poppers (hot with jalapeños and mild with mini bell peppers), sausage balls, and caramel corn to the party tonight. I’ll be baking the poppers and balls “just in time” and making the guacamole while the pies for Kelly and John are baking.

Mary—sounds like a party at your house!!! Amazing how things morph, isn’t it! My late DH had a ganglion cyst and had surgery. I had one that came back several times, but last time I wacked it… wacked it GOOD!!! Have had none for 12 years now!!! Mine got pretty gnarly looking until I took care of it. BAM!!!

Irish—THANK YOU for the salsa recipe! I’ll be making it next year with my bounty. With our frost… tomatoes are finished. I was helping with the wood in a heavy, chilly mist.

Jana—I had tons of ToTers in Missouri. They came in on flatbed trailers and ascended in droves upon our neighborhood. They din’t get anything like what I give out here, and of course… pre=wrapped, purchased items.

Tina—You are a busy grandma!!! Don’t even mention the SN-- word!!! Poor Holly! I hate being miserable cold.

Becca—I do miss the cute little kids that ToT, but I can do without the gangs that were taller than I am (5’8”)—they were kind of scary! I hope the little twins come again this year. They were our only ones other than the boy from across the road who is now maybe too big for ToT.

I didn’t make it to the table yesterday, but we ate… taco salad. Since the party is tonight, we’ll be eating there… chili with all the goodies everyone brings. It’s a good night for chili… cold and drizzly. Tomorrow night I’ll make the left-over taco meat into taco soup.

Enjoy!
