SUPPER CLUB - Sunday, Oct 25th

Post by purrfect-lady » Sun Oct 25, 2015 3:38 am

Good morning!

This morning is breakfast with my DB and SIL. DH also wants to go to Costco for rope lights for the roof-line. Now get this - for 20 years, I tried to get him to hang the Christmas lights in Oct when it was still somewhat warm and dry, but just not turn them on until December. But he'd get argumentative, refuse, and then do it when HE wanted - in cold/rain/slippery ladder. So he could complain about it. Finally we went with just LED rope lights that could stay up there all year and just be turned on with the flip of one switch. (also my idea, but that factoid has been lost in time. lol!) Now, after 5 yrs, the lights need replacing and he's got the great idea of doing it now before the weather gets cold and wet! I just told him how brilliant he is. Men are so funny!

CHICKIE - so happy your family is all back together again! I bet one could lose an eye with all that tail-wagging going on! Scottie had to wear a cone, too, when he had his 'work' done. No one was happy about that! We left the next morning for - well, YOUR house! - and he had to wear it in the truck and the RV for the next few days. Ugh. The embarrassment he suffered at the Rest Area pee-mail stops!

LADY CAROL - as usual, you are on the run! But that's retirement! There's never a day off! I always laugh when I hear people say they can't wait to retire so they can sit and relax!

IRISH - glad your DS is there to get things done for you. Maybe if you moved closer to me, he'd work on our list, too . . . . DH would gladly hand it over! But happy he is moving forward with his life. And glad to hear he is coming back for TG!! How far away does he live?

BECCA - happy heavenly birthday to your mom. Mine would be 101 and I miss her, too.

I used my noggin last night and cooked for four. So tonite, all we have to do is warm up the last two pork chops, dressing/mushroom gravy, and green beans. And toss a salad. Though I think DH might be getting in a chili mood. It's that time of year. And starting today, the rains have arrived. It's definitely chili weather. With cornbread, of course.

Whats the mood at your house? Is it soup yet?

Hello Mary & others, sunny here now.

Mary z You are right about men.The soup pot is going on later today for DD.She loves it.Glad the breakfast was good.

Chickie Hope all the little doggies are healing. One of ours had to wear the collar & what a time it was.I felt so bad for him.

Irish You are blessed to have that special son to come help. Our DD does but the boys just seem to not see anything that needs doing.Guess it is a man thing. The one keeps after us to move close to him.We keep staying here as it is home for many years.
Hope DSs life gets better.Sounds like DDIL did make her own bed as Chickie said.

Lady Carol You sound like a busy bee buzzing around. We have had one of those weeks too.We did have a rest on Wed when we visited DGD,Sawyer was playing Dr with Papa.He saw an age spot on his hand.He told Papa he should have a Dr look at that.Cracked me up.

Will be chicken breast stir fri over a bed of rice ,salad, grapes & ice cream later. Becca

I put dinner thoughts out of my mind long enough that DDIL1 texted and invited us for dinner there tonight. I’m making a gluten-free apple crisp to take. One of the DGDs is GF (her choice). I do respect it, but sometimes it’s hard to make things for her.

Well, the dogs and I walked out to where DH was cutting some hedge posts for a friend. I helped him with loading, and the dogs explored. For 5 minutes!!! Boomer came back with his “he can’t get out of this” cone of shame gone… just like last week he lost a brand new harness! I think he should be called Houdini! His foot bandages got pretty dirty. I think they can come off tomorrow. I still have to work to keep Tinker Bell out of the ponds for 10 days. That is no small task, either.

Apparently the cone of shame was just too much for Boomer, but he was so cute wearing it… He also loved to cuddle and have me hold him. I hope that stays! The collar certainly didn’t slow him down at all, except he ran into a few things with it and couldn’t figure out how to maneuver through the doggy door… not such a bad thing!

Irish—KC and PGH are playing now. KC is ahead but Steelers are gaining. I’ll root for the Steelers for you. KC hasn’t been a fave since Joe retired.

Becca—your dinner always sounds delicious! Sawyer must be a cutie to look after Papa like that!!! I love to listen to them when they don’t know it.

MaryZ—that light hanging is such a man thing! I used to work the psychology on late DH. He usually came up with my thinking after a few weeks, but it was then HIS idea. LOL! Doyal was an undergrad psych major, so I can’t put much over on him.

Every day could be soup day here, and I would be happy, happy, happy! Last eve we had veggie soup and grilled cheese because we had a late lunch.

Enjoy!
