SUPPER CLUB - Sat, Oct 3rd

Post by purrfect-lady » Sat Oct 03, 2015 4:00 am

Good Morning!

My SIS and BIL are still here. I'm usually up between 5am and 5:30 and have my quiet time on the computer. But my BIL is also an early riser and as soon as he sees a light go on in the house, he's up and at my side, talking a blue streak about cars, trucks, engines, mechanics, his friends' mechanics, etc. For HOURS! Bill is either sleeping or at the gym. By the time my sis and Bill show up, my ears are sprouting cauliflower heads! And then we are all four together every single minute until bedtime. So you can see how I've had little computer (or anything else!) time. Everyone is off to the showers now, so I have just enough minutes to slap together a supper post.

and what's with all this 'banned food'??? Chaos!! We've sunk into chaos!! Even my cat is shaking her head. She heartily dislikes your "pink PNW treat". She's a chicken girl, through and through.

CHICKIE - I love that you have so many dogs because when we have Scottie there, I don't feel so bad about any hair he may shed! lol! Though being black and having a 6" long coat, his are easy to pick out!

JANA - are you done rearranging your kitchen yet? I love rearranging things. I do have one big blind corner though where I put things I rarely use. I had to make a list and tape it to the inside of that cabinet door so I'd know what I have back there. Then I have to lay on my stomach and crawl into that cabinet to retrieve things. What a HASSLE! It's not as easy as it was once upon a time!

IRISH - I would LOVE to slow down a little! lol!! But come mid-October, we should be back to normal, all the company will be gone and no big plans for ANYTHING. I had to get up at 3:30 yesterday just to have some time to sew my cats!

TINA - any baby news yet?

We have a fridge full of taco leftovers as well as beans and potato salad. So that's what will be on the menu tonite. gotta clean out the fridge before we take off to camp.

got to go. Here comes everybody and their dog!

Good morning,

Mary - good to have family visit, not so good when our routines get disturbed! I was good, the banned food is still in the cupboard.

I am putting the finishing touches on the cupboards. They are coming along nicely. Just need to bring stuff up from my storage to restock upstairs.

Conference starts in a few minutes, so I can watch it in the Batt Cave, DH got the TV there up and running. So during church today and tomorrow I can sew!

Dinner - we will see - Sarah will be here sewing with me - so after the boys get home from their meeting, something will make the table.

Enjoy,
Jana

Good early afternoon from another dreary, dismal chilly SW. Pa....As much as I might nag about our weather, there are so many have worse than we are and we're very fortunate.....

I'm going to get all my nagging over real quick...Woke up with a tummy that didn't want to be nice...I was supposed to help serve at a funeral this morning but I was afraid they'd take a look at me and think they were burying the wrong person....But, it will be better, quick!

Mary, I love, love having company but I also love my "own space"...Even with just Jim in the house, it sometimes is crowded, lol.....And speaking of company, had a call from N.C. and DIL is driving this way, probably as I type...She will be staying with a girl friend because my DS told her, she is a difficult guest and he thought we had enough on our plate without her..See why I love my son......She will be in the area until the end of October ("no reason for her to be at home", her words)...Just because you have a DH who has been working away from home and is now back and a son, I guess that's not a reason....But, we'll see what happens......

Jana, I also love to rearrange things, but with this house, it's kind of hard....Now, when we lived in the big house, Jim never knew where I might put things...He often said he felt sure the bathrooms would have to stay where they were......I like the idea of sewing during church...There are times when my mind might be back home with my machine or maybe looking at something in church and thinking what a neat pattern that would be......

Not a whole lot happening....Did throw in a load of wash and going to run the vacuum upstairs and then probably join Jim at the TV...Full day of football, along with the Pirates game later and then end with Notre Dame tonight.....

I'm kind of thinking dinner will be hot ham and cheese sandwiches and soup for Jim and just soup for me......Still have a little banana/nut bread he can nibble on for afters......

Happy eating............

With the "crappy" weather here today I have just been watching college football and working on a 1000 piece puzzle. Been doing more of those than quilting for a while. Been so busy just haven't done much quilting, but have been doing cross stitching. Need to get back into my quilting mode.

For supper think I will have sandwich spread sandwich, cole slaw, some cranberry salad and a red pop float. I know sounds weird, but just not in the mood to cook tonight.

Have a good weekend all!

Good afternoon! What a fabulous day it is here—only around 70 degrees and sunny. When I came home from shopping and seeing Mom, the dogs and I took a walk across the pastures to where DH was cutting wood. We visited awhile and rode around in the ATV, then the dogs and I walked back. When DH comes up with a load of wood to split, I’ll go out and stack it for him.

MaryZ—stop reading here… Yesterday DS3 brought two packages of catfish for us. I fixed on package last evening. When he gave them to me, I said I was happy they were big packages so I could have a few leftover pieces to take to Mom. When I left her today, she was happily having catfish, broccoli and tomatoes for her lunch.

MaryZ—start reading here… Scotty will fit right in here with my passel of puppies! Between Tinker Bell’s long gray hair, his black hair, and my white hair… no big deal!!! You may need to bring your own chairs! Seating space is at a premium when the dogs are hogging their chairs and sofas. Boomer has fit right in.

Jana—I love that you can have church in your jammies! About the only thing I did during sermons at church was write grocery lists and design quilt blocks.

Irish—You have great sons!!! So glad you don’t have to put up (or put up with) your DIL! I meant to ask you if you noticed the stamp on the envelope… Willie Stargel. I picked it just for you from my sheet of baseball players. I remember when he played.

Sherry—my dad made red pop floats for us. He called them burpsy-boomas. The pop made the burps, and the ice cream made the booma. I would never cook if I didn’t have to.

Dinner here tonight… DH will have steak, but I’ll be having the pink treat I didn’t get last night when I made the other stuff. I’m sure I’ll find something to go with it… corn, baked sweet potato, tomatoes…

Enjoy!
