SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Sept 8th
Good morning!
Did everyone survive the holiday weekend OK? We were pretty low-key here though we did have a family brunch yesterday. That was only 8 people, counting DH and me. I think I'm going to start counting the fur-heads, too. That will make it sound like a bigger party than it really was! and they are certainly there, waiting for their share!
IRISH - despite being on the go, it sounds like you are having a restful, rejuvenating visit with your DD. You deserve it!
Now the rest of us have to buckle down and cook! I think tonite will be tomato basil soup and grilled cheese sandwiches for us. our friends are slated to roll in tomorrow for a long visit and the real cooking will start then. Though they did say they are bringing a pork loin and want a list of local restaurants. so I don't think they want me to do a whole lot of cooking. Perhaps they've been talking to my family . . . .
have you got any ideas for tonite? We're talking supper here!

Good morning! We had a HOT, HOT, HOT weekend! After a shower in the night, we have rumbles of thunder now... hopefully a cool front will come in. Tomorrow is supposed to be in the 80s--a welcome relief!
Tonight will be some left-overs... chicken, rice and quinoa pilaf, watermelon, tomatoes...
Mary--enjoy your visit with friends!

We had a busy long weekend with Holly and the kids here, lots of cooking was going on too. Tonight might be leftovers, we have leftover meatloaf and fried chicken and all that goes with it. I think I deserve a no cook night, let's see if that works

Good morning!
Chickie - that cold front is coming! It dropped us by more than 30 degrees at night and we are staying cool. We will get back to the 90's by the weekend, but that will be the last.
Mary - I would love smaller parties! But for some reason, my family just is getting bigger! LOL More Grandbabies - I have two that are waiting to hatch and there is a possiblity of another - Sarah has learned that she might be able to adopt again. The mother has children already and doesn't want another to raise - so we may be able to adopt - very similar type of a situation as when we got Ethan. We are praying hard that the right decision will be made for this little one, and if we are it, what joy will be here! That baby is due around the same time as Crenda and Matt's, end of February or so.
Tina - I now have a hankering for chile rellanos! Sarah has some anaheim peppers at the market - so I may make some - we will see
Dinner - leftovers! Yippee! I don't have to cook! I have a million things to get done between today and tomorrow - Sarah is teaching a jam class at the house here and I have my activity day girls - one at 4 p.m. and the other at 7 p.m. - the same day! So I need to shovel out the house and get some embroidery kits made for my girls - I thought that I would teach them some simple stitches. We will make potholders later in the year for a christmas gift and in January I will start the next set of girls on their quilts.
OK - book done -
Enjoy!
Jana

today was my Abergavenny day.......and oh yes.......those bootiful Jammie Doughnuts came home with me......the friends that I go with sometimes go back on some Saturdays to do their grocery shopping.....they will then bring me some back.....now that is friends..........
I"m sure there was something else to say but...........
so todays menu......Lasagne and Garlic Bread and Strawberry Trifle for afters(have a lot of trifle in the fridge) and of course.....Jammie Doughnut for later with our coffee......

Re: SUPPER CLUB - Tuesday, Sept 8th
Good afternoon from warm, sunny, Reno...And it is getting warmer, going up to 90 today, but no humidity.....
Mary, our trip had been busy but so good to spend time with Kathy and Tim. She and I had some alone time yesterday. We left the men at home and went to an outlet and managed to bring home a few bags...Thank goodness we brought big suitcases....
Becca, that sauerkraut sure sounds good. Kathy's DH planted a lot of cabbage and they make their own...
And speaking of yesterday, 60 years ago on Labor Day, our 1st son was born after a very quick half hour labor, so it was a good day...Not exactly when he passed me up in age...
Today, Jim and I are on our own, kids had to go back to work. I had been sitting in the sun but now it's time for lunch. They have the best tomatoes.....
As for dinner, this might be the Mexican night....Of course, since I'm not cooking I really don't care, lol
Happy eating

Hi Everyone,
After a trip to Honda to get the second of the recall notices taken care of I had a manicure, then lunch. The gardener is here now.
Tonight's dinner will be pork chops in a one pot dish with potatoes and vegetables on top of the range. It is quite warm here so I am glad to have a plan for no oven.
Irish - You sound so happy! Glad you had some girl time yesterday.
Jana - Sounds like your house is the place to be for training!
Mary - Basil soup and cheese sandwiches sound delicious!
Tina - Leftovers sound wonderful!
Chickie You too with the leftovers. I will have some tomorrow!
Becca - My Mom made sauerkraut. I would like to have some again!!
Bon Appetite!
Carol
